The Asimov laws are supposed to be open to interpretation, most of his novels are about how the laws are interpreted differently and people end up hurt. The playerbase of SS13 doesn't realize this of course, and just assumes that the AI is supposed to sit there with its thumb up its own ass while the syndicate tries to blow it up.

You really have to accept that and move on. Changeling is designed to be uncounterable at earlygame or even late, and is generally considered the worst gamemode, even wizard is fun compared to it.

Bad design, it's shit and even if that's the way you are supposed to play it that's still shitty.
Nobody likes dying very quickly or instantly when they had little to no warning or any means to prevent it. I could go into a big rant about other games and bring up things like Snipers in FPS's but it all boils down to nobody likes dying instantly when there is nothing they could do, even if it took [I]"skill"[/I] on behalf of the other player it's still anti-fun and ultimately detrimental for all bar a very select few.
The first time I played changeling was right around the time when the VR room was introduced. I got the mindbreaker toxin as my first mutation (or whatever the fuck the game calls them) and I only used it on people who were using the VR room. So then there was panic all around the ship that the VR room was fucking with people's brains. Good times, I died though.
