If the guys have just finishes a rebase is doing it -again- really a good idea? That's a lot of time just thrown out.
THe old rebase had a good four weeks of actual work done to it, I think this is because the people with experience were busy and those without were too sacred to fuck it up.

because the secret is that they aren't actually good at all
So Hippie quick-rebased to a basically the latest version of /tg/, with Jamie at the helm it got done REAL fukken quick, a few bitchy shitters left because he is being more hands on and actually doing shit and even Limed00d re-applied.
The players are still robust as ever (One or two are very good the rest are epileptic retard cats) and we have a set of friendlier admins and mentors going.
So do drop on by, it's like the angry abusive father who beats you but only because he wants you to be your best. You'll get your shit pushed in but dang if it ain't the crucible that'll reforge you into a hardned toolbox of robustness.
firing pins are needed because 1. lockboxes are dumb, 2. lets you do shit like clown locked guns, 3. a shitton more modular, 4. people who oppose it are likely just #salt R&D mains who ran propaganda campaigns, 5. it's like fixing a broken operator in siege

And yet R&D can just print a lockbox with firing pins in it and acid THAT open instead.
Or just get a crate from cargo and bust it open with a plasma cutter or home made emitter.
It's not a barrier, just tedium that only really hurts people who ant to legit use the items. It makes tackling a blob more frustrating as you are gated by the firing pins you have access to as well as the materials for xray guns.
A tator will just bust on past but a normal scientist gets screwed over and has to wait for someone else to help them, which in the case of a server like hippie is tantamount to literally never happening.
You can't print lockboxes of pins?
Who added that bullshit to your server?
You can't print lockboxes of pins?

My point is, pins one way or another are not a barrier just a delay, if you need to get them from cargo then a plasma cutter or a homemade emitter will bust the boxes open. And if there's lockboxes in THERE you can just lob acid.
/tg/station, the abandoned white ship penetrated the space bar. Decided to go bartender and turn the ship into the bar itself.

No one came to my bar tho. :suicide:
[sp]The abandoned ship counts as an escape pod too!![/sp]

Summon guns was inspired by and literally named after this exact comic.

That's the point. It's a delay.
That's the point. It's a delay.
So all it does is make something tedious for the sake of tedious, no real gameplay enhancements or anything it just slows something down that was already gated by two other things.
It makes science less fun, and that's bad.
man dies at the hands of a traitor chaplain who tries to please the God with sacrifices
goes on another account as security
gets banned
then starts to whine in PMs about how he "accidentally logged onto wrong account"
I've missed the stupidity of these people dearly
I seen the saddest sight in ss13 so far, a quad amputee clown being molested by a monocle top hat wearing monkey in the bar.

Was this Hippie an hour or so ago? because that clown was a tator and rather than kill him, I as the captain had him made a quad amputee and left to suffer.
Im a trialmin on vg nao :v:

Imagine one of those self entitled people who go into shops and bitch at the poor cashier for half an hour because THEY made a mistake but because they are a customer they MUST be right ergo they will do anything to blame somebody else and do all sorts of mental gymnastics to warp the world around them as opposed to accepting the truth.
Now imagine that said person is autistic and are right in your ear and forgot their ADHD medicine. THAT is what admining for ss13 is like.
On a lighter note, not enough captains know to use the station charter on Hippie station.

Me however I am a sucker for a good laugh at anything's expense.
What's the best server at the moment?
Haven't played in a while.
Do any of them still have the real atmospherics where you could get sucked out through holes and stuff?

No true best, all different flavors. If you want competent admins you can't go wrong with Goon but be aware that the codebase is pretty different from most other servers.

Goon cut their atmos system down to something more basic, not sure on the specifics but the reasoning was lag.
Bay and bay derivatives have the "most deadly" atmos in that breaching a single window will cause the whole area to be decompressed and everyone is thrown towards the hole with great speed.
/tg/'s atmos is a little more tame, it will suck most loose objects out into space but players can quickly turn around and run away. However due to their sped-up master controller it is very likely you will start to take pressure damage if near a breach for more than a few seconds.
As for "best" servers thats hard to say, if you're in it for the gameplay and care not for being bound by RP restrictions I reccomend either /tg/, Goon or /vg/. /vg/ is not listed on the byond hub and you need to go to their website to get the IP. it serves as a semi effective idiot filter, much like goons "No racial slurs" rule.
For Roleplay you have Paradise and Baystation, but those servers have a bit of a reputation and supposedly feel cliquey so it's hard to get into.
FTLstation(built up from /tg/) and Colonial marines(Built up from Bay) mix things up a bit, both having a unique gameplay gimmick. FTLstation being inspired by the popular indie game FTL:Faster than Light and Colonial marines being about going to an alien infested station and shooting the shit out of some fukken xenos.
Colonial Marines gets a reputation for it's staff being shit, I can't tell you anything concrete because I've never played there but complaints about them were commonplace not too long ago. It wasn't just how they banned people for silly reasons, a common running gag was "BANNED: HOW THE HELL DOES A MARINE KNOW HOW TO USE A LMG/DOCTORS TOOLS/MICROWAVE?" which was after the amusing event that someone got a talking to (and POSSIBLY and ban) for using a scalpel when he wasn't medical staff.
This is not a problem directly unique to Colonial marines and for the sake of balance the admins excuse was that "Whats the point in having medics when every jarhead can just whip out a scalpel and patch everyone up no problem". At the time, they didn't have the abilty to restrict items or surgery to a specific class and I'm not even sure if the first few people got banned for it. However things like this are sometimes seen on "High RP" servers (usually Bay derived) where even though you the player know how to fix some atmos pipes, your job role as a scientist might not.
I must re-state my recommendations for Goon /tg/ and /vg/ for as long as you don't actively fuck other people or the server over you can do more or less whatever so for someone who wants to learn SS13, they are good options.
There is another server I COULD put on that list, which is Hippie Station, which began life right here on facepunch and was kinda the facepunch server for a while. Due to it's very lax attitude with regards to rules the playerbase is remarkably robust and political correctness is a phrase who's meaning has been washed away in the tides of time. HippieStation is basically /tg/ but you will get your shit pushed in real quick, you either git gud or git ded. They suffer inexperience poorly over there, from an IC standpoint at least, you can expect to be knocked on your ass and given a light to medium beating for getting in a more experienced players way and setting up the engine too slowly. However the mentor team is usually friendly and willing to help **COUGH COUGH** but please read the wiki for inane shit like chemistry recipes and how to build machines. And use the /tg/.station wiki for now. Hippie just rebased to a newer version of /tg/ so the codebases are roughly the same for now, barring the fact that Hippie only has one map whereas /tg/ has a few.
This was a rather unexpected wall of text but I hope it helps.
how likely am i to get robusted if i refuse to order things for people as QM unless they have documentation signed and stamped in triplicate by the head of their department

Most people will get upset and fuck off. A rare few people will get very upset and try to break in, at which point they have broken the NAP and you are free to incapacitate them, tie them up, amputate their legs, and forcefeed them pizza until they're ready to be put up for display in the bar.

People will either grudgingly accept that, or mount an all out assault to lynch you. Most likely the latter.

Once I ordered some parts for engineering, when it was denied I cut power to cargo until the qm agreed to get my parts. He assaulted me instead, and got thrown in the brig.

Make sure you declare the cargo department it's own sovereign nation. Cargonia is a popular name, but you can name it whatever you wish. For maximum effect, unhook yourself from the station power grid by ordering solar crates and setting up your own array.
