Yes, but does it has beans?
Seems like Dean Hall is at it again
to me it seems like he is just looking at the technical aspects of ss13 when the most interesting part of ss13 to me are the social aspects. things like smoothtalking my way from assistant to captain, or holding the station's cargo hostage until i win a court case as quartermaster. i love that the state of the station can be dramatically changed by small things, like a door staying open a bit too long giving someone with nefarious intent access to somewhere they shouldn't be. when the station starts going to shit for one reason or another, i like how the social order can both fall apart with it or stick together in some parts surprisingly well. of course the depth of the systems contribute to this, but what makes ss13 special to me is the people.

I mean, it looks okay: I'm interested.
Instead of constantly trying to make 3D spessmen, changing what SS13 is, why not just make it an updated 2D game that isn't written on spaghetti code? I personally wouldn't play a 3D SS13 clone because I prefer it as a 2D game. Hell, just clean all the sprites up a bit without even changing them. But 3D clearly isn't working.
The people at r/SS13 actually managed to make a clown in the "Place" April Fools Reddit Event. Good to see that even a small community like SS13 can come together and withstand the odds of an unforgiving community experiment.
so I haven't played SS13 in like a year or two, whats the best server to go on right now?
so I haven't played SS13 in like a year or two, whats the best server to go on right now?
Every year, the servers and the general attitude of the players change so much, so you're probably in for a shock. Good luck. I've heard /vg/station is quite good, but I've never had the chance to play on it yet.
Some people have an inexplicable hate boner for Goon because it's not open source but it still has hands-down the best admins and content around.
so I haven't played SS13 in like a year or two, whats the best server to go on right now?
Goon is still good, /tg/ is trying to be more like /vg/, Hippie changed about five different times and is now under new management (Not that Hippie himself ever did much anyway). I'll advocate hippie just because it's where I've been all this time so it feels like home to me. If you want mediumRP then OneyG (yes the youtube animator) made his own station based of yogstation, no idea how good it is but it is supposedly just yogstation with less cranky admins. Paradise is so popular it has an automatic invisible mode that toggles on when when the pop count hits the 70's. I don't like the premise of Paradise but if it's your thing, hey Go for it. There's also FTLstaiton where the whole station is like a ship in FTL, not tried it but it sounds baller.
That moment when someone accidentally makes a SS13 comic. [t]https://photos.smugmug.com/Comics/Pa-comics/n-xmQS5/i-7gjxR4j/0/2100x20000/i-7gjxR4j-2100x20000.jpg[/t]
When mining arrives science is a magical place, with autocloners and other stuff
The reason /tg/ has such a hateboner for science is that it gets powergamed every round, this never happens on hippie as miners steal the ORM then go die to the ash drake. But on the rare times it does happen, when the likes of John Mclaime gets their hands on a combat mech the salt is incalculable and glorious.

Never played this game in my life. Just joined a server, chose Janitor because I assumed it'd be pretty easy for starters, apparently the entire station was evacuated or something, I walked into a room full of blood and a severed butt. I wandered around trying to figure out inventory and how to interact with things, game ended. I have no clue what's happening.
I've recently taken a liking to Aurora station. Am I a huge nerd for playing on srs RP ss13 servers? :v:

It's big, its messy, it's complex and death is not a case of "if" but "when and how". As a janitor you are the first line of defence vs anarchy, when the station looks like a hellhole people will get crazy like its the apocalypse. If you can keep the station neat and clean people tend to stay calm for longer. If the server you play on is an open codebase learn to read its wiki and github. Always know where your toolbox is. Always have a plan B. Imagine that the guy behind you has a weapon to hand at all times. The guy in front of you DOES have a weapon to hand at all times. Give a clown a banana and he slips and steals one guys shoes. Let a clown into the botany area and you are a horrible horrible human being. In addition the to the previous point, if the clown is ever given space lube the supplier deserves to be spaced. Try every job, try everything! As long as you don't upset peoples rounds too much you should be fine. Don't just read a servers rules but try to understand their culture, it never hurts to ask admins when it comes to grey areas. When it comes to combat, disarm intent is best intent. If you are not fighting a guy, for gods sake stay on help intent. A severed butt is a good hat. SS13 is like a point and click game with regards to lethality, experimentation will lead to answers and death.
a severed butt.
lucky, you got two asses now keep em somewhere safe
I've recently taken a liking to Aurora station. Am I a huge nerd for playing on srs RP ss13 servers? :v:
I think it's because on a serious server, shit hitting the fan is a pretty rare occurance, which makes it a bit more fun Though you can forget that if you happen to have a job that requires an awful lot of Paperwork
I did a thing: I don't play changeling any more.
I did a thing: I don't play changeling any more.
The only time I ever do changeling things as a changeling is get 5 DNA points and just spam spiders. Heck last time I just went to main;t ba and chugged changeling sting the whole round while mashing the spawn spiderlings button.
Changeling is so boring spiders is really the only thing I bother with too because at least then there's something going on besides sucking up genes in the shadows
Changeling is easily the most fun enemy type for me, I remember once I was caught super early in the round and was welded into a locker and sent down the conveyer belt into the gibber, luckily for me I changed into a monkey which somehow allowed me to be fast enough to run away from the gibber as it destroyed the locker I was in but not me, I ended up surviving and absorbing the sec officers who did it to me. I really need to get back into this game.
Only time i played Changeling was when i forgot to turn my antag roles off I also suddenly got pushed into being transferred to HoP out of nowhere I barely did anything for the rest of the round and when i did try to do something i was caught and executed quite quickly
I've only had fun as a changeling by running around making ruckus just using revive and seeing how long it takes to get killed for good, without killing anyone myself
I've only had fun as a changeling by running around making ruckus just using revive and seeing how long it takes to get killed for good, without killing anyone myself
Nothing like getting the adrenial gland or whatever it is to go as fast as you can, using cryo freeze on everyone while being called Mister Freeze and making terrible puns.
