The server WAS shutting down because someone called the host a pedo, the host got told to deal with it by one of the headmins and they then went on to try to hire the guy who called the host and bill payer to the team.
However I say was because Hippie himself says he will come back to fund the server.

To be fair, if the guy running the place asks not to be called a pedo, and not only do you do it anyway but people tell the host to deal with it and then hire you to the admin team. It's not unreasonable for said host to want nothing to do with the community anymore.

Initially he stepped down as headmin because of the aforementioned getting called a pedo and not even being able to ask the guy who did it to knock it off. He was gonna fund and host the server on his box but he would have no hand in its running.
Then they go and tried to hire said guy as an admin and he gets annoyed because "well fuck that was the one guy I really truley had beef with and you go and put him in a position of power!"
Justified or not whoever hired that guy knew they would piss off the guy paying the bills.
Reap what you sow and whatnot.

From what I can gather that was more the "things are always going to be shit for me" point on the server. People kept giving him shit for one reason or another, some warranted but mostly bandwagoning. When someone called him a pedo on the forums he deleted the comment but got told off by another headmin and told to deal with it.
So he decided he would have nothing to do with adminning the server, while he was still upset about the whole thing the staff decided to admin the guy who called him a pedo and he basically decided that enough was enough there is nothing left for him here he would basically be sending money over for the enjoyment of people who have it out and want to be dicks to him and cut funding as a result.

It's sad in the actual game its fairly chill and the players mostly are nice but the drama surrounding them is toxic as fuck.
The forums is for three things, ban appeals, admin complaints and poo flinging.
Any tips for a oxygen loop on /tg/ that doesn't instantly burst into flames? Every-time I turn on a emitter the whole thing goes up in flames.
Oxygen has been precooled to -240, vents on 5066.3 (internal), volume pumps replacing normal ones, scrubbers siphoning, oxygen being kept in the loop, plasma being put into canisters from the filter.

Turns out if you set the pressure to 5066.3 the vents won't actually pump until the gases reach that pressure. Ina nutshell coolant couldn't get in.

It's more along the lines of lite-RP more than RP, but it's still definitely RP. Especially during the initial start of the rounds for marines with base-building and scouting.
RP does dip off a bit once the action starts but it's all good fun imo.

Not sure if you've tried this but you might be better off going down to lowRP and trying to get some RP going there.
As paradoxical as it sounds when you have less restrictions on RP the RP that does come forth tends to be all the better for it.
You just need to take charge without being an asshole and if the direction the RP is going is fun people tend to tag along.
There was a brilliant time on hippie of all places where nuke-ops declared war and the captain managed to get several assistants with makeshift armour, shields made from dinner trays and duct tape and glass spears into a ramshackle militia. I have never seen greater brotherhood than between those brave soldiers, not even the cliquiest of furfaggot meta-cliques were as loyal to one another as the Donk-Hulk VII emergency Millitia.
Hell there was a great moment on hippie many years ago where I was a traitor cargo tech, I used my points to buy a singularity generator and particle accelerator and got to work setting it up. A greyshit cam in and said "woah dude sweet!" he then dropped his traitor codewords and I responded with mine.
The HoS jumped out of a nearby locker having snuck in there while I was elsewhere he tased me down and cuffed me. He asked the guy "those were the word right?"
"yep" responded the grey, and they dragged me off to the brig, while I was being processed the grey stood next to me and was like "sorry, they hit me with a loyalty implant, I gotta obey." Rules wise, even when they were named loyalty implants traitors were under no obligation to actually be loyal if implanted but this guy was playing along with it for fun. The captain and HoS strip me down and take me to the interrogation room where they ask me a few questions, the grey also came too and seeing as he stood next to me as opposed to across the table I was able to whisper that he can "fight off the implant, its OK just remember your syndicate training." He paused for a while, presumably to get the OK from the admins but we may never know, but after a while he whipped out a taser and fired on the captain and HoS. He unbuckled me and the firefight broke out into the sec lobby, I stood in a corner frantically trying to remove my cuffs and praying nobody came in. Unluckily for me the captain came back and hit me with a stunbaton. Luckily the fool stood on top of me, which was just enough time for me to do [*superfart].
For those not in the know, *superfart on hippie makes you fart with all your might and soul in a final buttblat that blows your butt clean off and deals MASSIVE damage to anyone you are standing on. These days it only does 50 damage but back in the day of our story it did a whopping 80 armour piercing damage. The captain had been shot at least twice by a laser and he fell into critical condition. With the captain now out of the picture I was able to uncuff myself, i quickly grabbed his ID and his gun and moved to go help my grey-wearing buddy. Sadly he was dead but the HoS was weak and I was naked and if there is one thing I have learned about ss13 its that naked men with nothing to lose are the most dangerous of all. The HoS decided to use the laser setting on his gun and fired a few volleys, I took some hits but was still standing, I fired once, missed, twice, missed I was down to one or two shots before the gun ran dry and thank the lord the third connected.
I finished the HoS with a laser or two and some applied beatings before going back and looting the captain of his clothes and gear fully. As I left the brig the janitor was beholden to the bloodbath, he turned to me and asked "Is the captain ok?" and I thought to myself that this was the one time I can say this and get away with it and I said to him. "I am the captain now..."
I went back to cargo, turned on the PA and ran the second I saw the sing appear, I hid in a locker by escape as the shuttle was about to dock and left the station with a great sense of accomplishment, even if I didn't greentext.
I mean you could also totally play as a xenophobic human on aurorastation and try to hold anti-xeno rallies.
Idk if you would have that many people with you as half the crew are xenos, but it would interesting to try.
I feel like there's a server missing where half of the station is a boarded off crummy sub-district where the scum of the station resides. Potential gameplay would start revolving around earning enough credits to buy into higher status. Pros and cons for both sides, the rich would be under constant supervision with strict rules enforced but have more pleasures to indulge. The poor would have complete freedom with changing diplomacy but live in a constant threat of violence unless they band up together.
People would probably pay more attention to doing their jobs and staying in character if they we're rewarded with some sense of progression in the form of attainable roles.
Would be a bitch to moderate, unless the crummy section would be something near lifeweb tier shit.

Oh not to mention goon has LLJK1 which is a roleplay server... but with goons who are a chill bunch. Goon is actually farily good for RP, everyone has this wonderfully whacky kind of fun where being good at the game garners no respect or reward (unless you can do something genuinely hilarious) and its more about the shenanigans you can get into.
For example challenging the HoS to a drinking contest for his ID.

I did this on Citadel before getting permabanned for metagaming. Shitloads of fun, especially when you start shaving Mary Sues and telling them they're part of the Space Reich now before skedaddling off and mugging all the unrobust snowflakes that come after you. Admins were totally cool with me doing it, since I wasn't causing any trouble, the only problems came from people who went out of their way to attack me.

AuroraStation Staff are great, no sarcasm.
Playing malf ai first time on their server, while the crew were in evac, I wanted to scare them by blowing an APC as I expected a 1x1 light explosion, but it turned into a maxcap explosion killing half of them. Admin bwoinked me and I explained to him honestly that I thought it wouldn't kill anyone because usually blowing up machines on other servers gives a 1x1 to 3x3 explosion. Gave me a more than fair warning for it when most servers would probably ban you for something like that.
Thought it was a great server, submitted a whitelist application for Dionaea because THEY'RE TREES. Went through and about a month playing an admin gave me an on-record warning for not speaking slow enough as Dionaea/Treeman (guy wanted me to add "..." every other word instead of adding "..." every other sentence). The Captain and Head of Security was breathing down my neck about them wanting me to do surgery to borg a prisoner and debug this rogue cyborg, all while I was a missing an arm so it was very difficult to stay in character when 10 people are talking to you at once. Admin didn't seem to care about the situation when I explained it.
I asked in their lore discord channel asking about how slow treemen should talk, lorenerds were split on it, some saying it's required some saying it's optional, some saying it's a non-issue, so [URL="https://i.imgur.com/Vi7KgnB.png"]I made a thing in python that makes me sound like a retard if I type something in[/URL] so I don't have to kill my fingers. I gave a suggestion on the forums posting suggestion and python code hoping someone could convert it, a day later despite me not even complaining directly to the loredev (or really complaining at all), the loredev decided that it was a dumb requirement and said that speaking slow is optional and deleted my warning.

So out of respect I got back into byond code and coded a PR adding in optional automatic slowless to dionaea speech. Coding staff were eager to help me when I had questions.

One thing I've always wanted from SS13 is directional audio in an external VOIP program like task force radio for arma 2/3. Even if it would result in alot of issues that might need some tweaks ingame to make it good the possibilities with something like that are endless, would make the game flow a bit faster in alot of areas too.
Plus the escape shuttle would become even more of a torture chamber.
Would probably function best for the super hardcore RP servers so it not turned into a micspam fest resulting in lynchings of spammers/5 year olds every round
