One thing I've always wanted from SS13 is directional audio in an external VOIP program like task force radio for arma 2/3. Even if it would result in alot of issues that might need some tweaks ingame to make it good the possibilities with something like that are endless, would make the game flow a bit faster in alot of areas too. Plus the escape shuttle would become even more of a torture chamber. Would probably function best for the super hardcore RP servers so it not turned into a micspam fest resulting in lynchings of spammers/5 year olds every round
How would any of the in-game speech manipulation in SS13 work with voice chat?
How would any of the in-game speech manipulation in SS13 work with voice chat?
Yeah I don't think voice chat belongs in SS13. Either get wordlessly robusted or play on an RP server. Simple as that.
You can't log voice chat so it's much easier to metagame or grief.
Love it, but I feel like it should be touch range only.
Thanks to byond step calculation it only hits tiles adjacent to the wizard, it was the least snowflake way I could simulate the idea of the wizard punching as hard as he can in that general direction. Another point to consider is how unless the target hits a wall they only take 20 damage and its usual CD is 10 seconds needing all 10 of your spellpoints to bring it down to 2.
Just played a goon round that left me salty as fuck. I'm a ling captain after spending an antag token(given out when admin shenanigans ruin an antag round) to guarantee an antag round. I gear up in sec, then head to chemistry to make some deathpills. I absorb a scientist and the research director. The research director tells me he has a traitor PDA with 12 telecrystals, I buy a cloak and a permanent mind-slave implant. I sting someone while totally invisible and absorb them when they pass out, while also overhearing that there's another ling and the HoP is handing out all access to a ton of people. I head over to the detective's office to steal one of the few pairs of thermal goggles on the station. I notice the HoS pass by wearing his thermals so I make a note not to use my cloak in the halls. When I get to the detective's office I notice a security officer yelling at some guy with all access hiding in the office. I baton the intruder, cuff him, and strip some of his stuff. I drag him over to arrivals customs to get him a less intrusive ID. When I get to the checkpoint, he removes his cuffs instantly, something only a ling can do. I sting him and run into maint. He chases me, but I cloak before he can sting me. I bump into the catering storage door, he runs in, notices he's been stung and screams over the radio "LING CATERING!". A chef and his sou-chef exit the kitchen to discover a man attacked by an invisible assailant. I exit cloak and pull out my baton to look menacing. The downed ling turns one of his absorbed victims into a leg-worm, a robust little player controlled critter than can take quite a few hits and stun people. The chefs figure that the guy is a ling and they don't object when I feed the downed ling a kill-pill and stuff him into a crate. The leg-worm kicks me a few times and uses the stun ability. The worm takes a brief moment to steal the crate with the ling in it and attempt a mad dash away. When the stun wears off I shoot at the leg-worm and start dragging the crate towards disposals to be crushed. Before I can leave catering storage, the ling dies, passively spawns a head-spider outside of the crate, which instantly stuns me and lunges down my throat. I scream over the radio that I need immediate surgery in bar clinic. As soon as the head-spider stun wears off, I bolt out of catering storage, and into the clinic. About six people crowd around the entrance to the booth, some of them well armed security. Immediately upon lying down on the operating table, I lose control and the other ling assumes control of my body. The ling had died and assumed control of my body in under 20 seconds. He stands up, shoots into the crowd, uses one of MY victims to spawn a leg-worm, regenerates, and successfully escaped from the mob.
what's great about aurora station is that stuff like this still exists but you have to do it locally unless you face the wrath of the admins

You got owned.
Whats going on with Hippie Station? Both the server and its forum are down.
havent played in like a million years. Is Polytrinic acid still the easiest thing ever to make? I remember getting kinda bored of playing traitor because it was too easy to just hop into chemistry and make some acid and murder my target with it. Alternatively I could just not make it and have fun.
Whats going on with Hippie Station? Both the server and its forum are down.
Its back up, its now fully changed hands and is under Hippies control.

Man, soon this thread will have existed for almost 2 years now. It's kind of depressing.
Well SS13 struggles to get over 700 concurrent players at any given point, we are a small thread on a small board for a small game.
Man, soon this thread will have existed for almost 2 years now. It's kind of depressing.
It's not really rare for niche threads to last this long on facepunch. The thing I find incredible is that SS13 itself is 15 years old(and still in active development), and that I've only been here for two.
Context?
On /tg/station there's a tile that's covered with fake space carpet, under it is a smuggler satchel with a pulse rifle. Through the wonders of RNG it spawned that tile right infront of the oldstation.
Man, after playing on paradise for a while now. I can honestly say that place is a hugbox for anybody playing another species. It's almost like there's a bunch of favoritism going on with the admins, you can hardly insult the furry races without having an admin sniffing up your butt. Would not recommend it, the people running the server will change opinions on gameplay rules if one of the established community users are caught in the crossfire.
I'd like everyone to check out a goon admin's response to a specific person's ban appeal. I don't really participate on goonstation at all, but this caught my eye because it was brought to my attention. https://forum.ss13.co/showthread.php?tid=9687 (or https://archive.is/UBc4M if for some reason that link is dead or changed) It's long, but it's beautiful.
