An exciting 90 minute round on Goon I just played tonight. Grab a drink, it's a long one. I would have posted this as a green-text but I figure stretching the page out so long is frowned upon. Traitor mechanic. I have to escape alone. I buy an Emag, an agent card, and a signal jammer that prevents radio and PDA messages. Decide to set up my usual syndicate outpost teleporter trap that stuns the victims inside for 5 seconds every 5.1 seconds. Can't be escaped through normal methods. Everything works great. I teleport back to mechanics office with a one way teleporter. The other mechanic is there and she asks me what I'm doing. I tell her that I'll show what I'm doing. She follows me. I run around the station gathering supplies, including magnetic boots that prevent teleportation. I grab a camera and start taking pictures of trees in the owlry to cover the pressure plates of my teletrap. "oh you're making a greenhouse." Suuuuuurrrrre. I make my first trap in a door double door frame with one door bolted open and the other closed. First victim walks in and gets sent to the outpost. The other mechanic catches up to me. "whats with the bolted door?" I just shrug. "Hey check out my teleporter, see where it leads." The mechanic eyes the teleporter and reluctantly hops in. Quite a few people walk into the trap, never to be heard from, thanks to the signal jammer placed outside the trap. My other objective is to damage robotics. I emag some construction floorbots and they start removing tiles in robotics. A geneticist sees me do this "HEY". He chases me out of medbay and follows me as I run for my trap. I stop short of it and the geneticist walks over it. I head to medbay, grab a hypospray and a defibrillator, emagging them both into weapons. I go to chemistry and fill up the hypo with neurotoxin. Over the radio I hear: "[B]I JUST ESCAPED FROM A SYNDICATE LISTENING POST DEATHTRAP WATCH OUT FOR TELETRAPS CREW![/B]" The HoS had gotten trapped, summoned the portabrig, then died before he could teleport out. A security officer had gotten trapped afterwards and hopped in the portabrig and escaped. He wanders into medbay, and sees me doing chemistry as a mechanic. He runs in, fires a taser and misses. I leg it. A bio-magnetic storm shows up makes everyone on the station repulse or electrocute each other when they contact. He bumps into me and i go flying into maint. Dodge some taser shots, hit him with the hypo. He batons me and cuffs me. "You're unlucky. . ." He falls over from the neurotoxin. I break out of my cuffs, use them on him and remove his headset. He gets up. The officer explains to me how he got out of the trap. I tell him he fought well and gets to choose how to die. He asks to be spaced. I disguise myself and drag him to the hangar, throwing him out into the void. A shiny new baton, taser and all access ID are all mine. "I have fixed robotics crew!" The Borg has messed with my plan. I stroll into the AI upload disguised as the officer and kill-switch both the Borg and the AI. The Borg panics and runs into the upload. He begs me to turn off the turret so he can run to the console and save himself. Stun him, then start bashing his head in with the baton. All he can scream over the radio before dying is: "eeeecccccc eeeeevvvvvillllllllll". The AI starts shouting, "HELP CREW I AM ABOUT TO SELF DESTRUCT". Confusion over the radio, but nobody comes to stop it. I set up another trap in escape so I can escape alone when the time comes. I start to walk over to bridge to call the shuttle, but I notice the chaplain carrying a Ouija board and investigating the AI upload. I stab him with the hypo and start punching him. He runs over the dismantled teletrap into the owlry. He falls over behind the trees, takes a minute to find him. I check my belts for hand-cuffs before deciding to choke him out and teleport his corpse to the outpost. The quickly assembled teleporter doesn't work. He dies and I hide his body in the trees. I suit up in a space suit and fly out to the syndicate outpost. The trap is broken. There are 13 corpses but no signs of escape. I start moving bodies out to replace the parts. [B]INCOMING RADIATION STORM[/B] I run back through one way teleporter back to my office and into maint to shield myself from radiation. Three gentlemen are huddled outside genetics. I plan to stab one with the hypo, then stun the other two. Plan to throw them into the radiation to die [B]"You have been mindslaved"[/B] What "I'm planning on creating a 3 way gladiator fight between all my mindslaves. Once the radiation dies down, you have 10 minutes to prepare, then head to the arena built in the market." I tell my master that I'm a traitor, but he lets me keep my gear. As I wait, I grab a 2nd taser and load up on death pills in chemistry. I drag a crate into a corner of the arena and stand on top it. A crowd of sec officers, botanists, and staff assistants gather outside the makeshift cage match. [B]BEGIN[/B] The door to the cage slams shut. The geneticist mindslave freezes the floor with cryokinesis. The HoP slave opens fire on the two of us with his taser. Geneticist gets stunned HoP empties two tasers into me. Taser shots cannot enter tiles with crates in them I just sit there Geneticist gets up Stun batons HoP Fires his taser into my corner Still nothing [I]*click click click*[/I] Step off my crate Stab HoP with the hypo Whip out my baton Stun geneticist Feed him the death pill Stuff him into the crate HoP gets up Slips on the ice from the start of the battle Grabs some kind of beaker bomb Lights it Nothing A dud Baton him too Feed him the death pill Geneticist flops out of the crate and faints from the poison Stuff them both in the crate and weld it The crowd roars with applause Master lets me out and tells me I'm free to do what I want outside of killing him, tell him I have to escape alone and he agrees to not board the shuttle. Rush back to the outpost, flying all the way over again. Spend roughly 7 minutes fixing the thing, shuttle gets called as I finish up. I head back over to the station. Build another teleporter trap. I turn on the emagged floorbots to tear up robotics again. I notice the HoP, he must have been cloned. He heard me tell master I was a traitor so I back away. Everyone slowly disappears, a faint teleport sound is heard in the distance as people fall into my new trap. Board an empty shuttle, and launch it early with the emag. [B]ESCAPED ALONE[/B] [B]FAILED TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO ROBOTICS[/B] Apparently you have to damage the APC. Whoops. Still felt like victory. As the round ends, The HoP says: [B]OOC: we brought tasers to a crate fight[/B]

Maybe someone can give me a hand, I started playing again recently but I'm having an issue with the text that shows up when you mouse over something, it only stays there for a short time and then disappears until I move my mouse again. I have the same issue, either try updating to the beta branch of byond or see if there are any settings on your internet explorer you can fiddle with. it usually fixes itself for me after a few minutes so I'm not usually too bothered
The long and short of it is that byond is shitcode. Take it from someone who's a project maintainer of Hippiestation, it's shitty shit code that was not designed to do what ss13 is doing.

I think that's one of the best features of the game and there are no plans to change that at all. However there's some special snowflake controls that break away from the norm, the biggest offender being drag and drop. This is used for buckling into chairs, opening containers that aren't in your hands, and dragging people into vehicles or containers. And that's it, these few actions seem completely unrelated to each other and don't justify drag and drop existing when it can be solved some other way. Grab intent is already used to table people, so it's logical that you could use it to sit someone down or shove them into a locker. For the particular case of opening a box that you're not holding, it'll be added to the context menu, which is coming along. The context menu only holds the few special actions like "set transfer amount" on beakers, so it won't be used that often.
I'm really really excited to see this project grow. It's gone further than any other remake has.
Ah, cool. They added eyes to the model. I was a little worried about that. It's also good they're making the mechanics less dumb - if anything this will allow a new playerbase to figure out the mechanics much more easily.
Ah man, I don't want to get excited about another SS13 remake but that looks great. And they seem to get what makes SS13 what it is, too many tried to make it into a modern FPS and it just doesn't work.

I'm really optimistic for a couple reasons: The team is already crowdsourcing models. Normally it'd be easy to tell because of the stylistic differences but the dev released a pretty extensive guide detailing what style to use when making the models The game is going open source after (closed?) alpha. I wouldn't be surprised to see this one gain even more traction and release given the way its development is being handled.

pro strat: put remote detonated grenades inside of a box or backpack to completely conceal your actions since nobody pays attention when someone runs into the captain's birthday party, throws a box, then runs out, polyacid smoke exploding out and killing everyone around it shortly after
Because coders have fragile ego's imma stroke mine and rattle off its features like an 80's used car salesman. It consists of a pair of skates, a helmet, body armour, a backpack and belt. The Helmet and Armour are spaceproof and some of the strongest armour in the game, certainly the strongest any basic traitor can get. The backpack is what houses the hockey stick, the stick when held in two hands deals 25 damage and acts like a powerfist that send people flying. If they hit a wall they get stunned a bit and take an extra 10 damage. The idea being 4 hits to down someone normally but 3 if you position yourself properly. It also deflects incoming energy pellets when held like this but not bullets. When held one-handed it acts like a baseball bat except rather than increase all thrown object by %20 it does so by %40. It's also capable of cutting heads off when held one handed if you ever want a trophy. The skates let you go sanic fast, not much else to it, but they are not noslip so do watch out for wet floor tiles. The mask is a badass looking gas mask and that's about it. The belt can let you make a hockey puck every 10 seconds and has slots for two of them. When thrown these pucks stun very briefly forcing people to drop whatever they are holding while dealing some brute dmage and some stamina damage, 3-4 pucks will cause someone to drop from exhaustion. The catch to all this? The items are nodrop so once you commit you have to go with it, and the set costs all of your TC.
