The idea of a horror / survival driving game is REALLY intriguing to the say the least. The mood and atmosphere of those last gifs / vids gives my brain a boner.
This has come a long way mate.
Incredible job.
Thank you! Yep, it's been a long road

Thanks! Happy to read that!

Wasted some days modeling a supermarket, to bring at least some variation into the placeholder infested demo:

I've just picked myself up a rift and man I'd love to have a go at this in virtual reality. Especially with the ability to look at the mirrors and everything. Do you think you'll end up implementing anything like that?
You are like the Nikola Tesla of games man, you're ahead of your time here.
oh my god yes you're still working on this

Definitely wish and hope there will be a VR version along the way.

:boxhide: Then I should beware of the Edison of games! Jokes aside, thank you, I'm flattered.

Still on it!

Why don't you have a patreon page or something yet? This shit is incredible so far, I'd be happy to pitch in a few $$ to keep it going.
Same.
If you have anywhere else you share your development of this please do share! I check the fuck out of this thread.
Latest video!

And yeah, if you set up some kind of support page I would be willing to send some money your way as well.
Is that workings of a Day/Night or is that area just lighter? Either way I am still absolutely in awe of the atmosphere! I would also definitely contribute to a patreon or something if you were to set one up!
Is there any news on this? It's been.. a while since anything? :)
Would love to hear any updates to this - just an incredible looking thing, I love simple games like this with more depth than meets the eye at first. Would love to know if some kind of release is still in the future!
I'm so happy this isn't dead. Have you considered mud and dirt spraying onto the car? What about the mist that comes off car tires when they're on wet pavement?

I think this is dead, haven't had any updates for quite some time
@Nikpo could you contact me via email/twitter - ...if you're interested in betatesting
Aaw, really happy you are still active and working on this, I was afraid that the switch to newpunch had put an end to your progress updates, good to be proven wrong tho
Yeah it's taken longer than expected - been in solo-crunch-mode for the last 6 months. Also lost some time and energy negotiating with publishers last year. The last conversation seemed promising but the proposed deal would have meant that the demo would only be available to their monthly subscribers. I could not go with that because demo != paid. Two weeks later I read in the news that they were bought up by a big corp, and one that I quite dislike for what they do.
That got me fed up and decided I'd simplify the demo and continue working on it by myself. As some of you have proposed (thanks), I'll be using patreon to gather funding for further development.
Right now I have an unfinished but playable demo ready. Just a piece of land and a couple AI enemies. So far it's only been running on my machine so it needs testing on different rigs
I've been planning to give back for how the posts in this thread have helped motivate me to keep on going, so If you have posted in this thread in the past and would be interested in betatesting, write me a PM. Oh, ok, no PM then. How can we do this... Just write me an email and attach a screen cap of your FP profile settinga so I know it's you:

For reference, I have an i7 4790K @ 4GHz >X770 and when I run the demo at 720p on lowest settings I get between 70 and 100FPS
The demo is out: BEWARE demo file
Enjoy
The demo doesn't work at all for me. I can get in-game but after like 3 seconds the game just stops and it either crashes after some time or I have to close the process.
Sad to hear that. That's the first crash report I read about but I'm expecting more since it's only been out a couple of hours. What are your system specs?
The game just outright crashes on the main menu for me.
My specs are:
AMD RX 480 4GB
i3 6100
8gb ram
Game runs okay for me, took about 5 crashes before it actually ran.
Controls are a bit janky, it picked up my Xbox One Controller but only for headlights and starting the engine.
Runs fine at 1080p for me.
Specs:
Win10 64-bit
Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.00GHz
AMD R9 390 8GB
16GB RAM
Uploading a 4 minute video I recorded too. Nothing special, will post it once uploaded.
The mouse isn't locked so I can't look all the way around and keep clicking out of the game.
I really like this so far. Spinning out and seeing those yellow headlights coming up over the hill while you struggle to start going again is the most tense a game has made me in a while. Not quite sure what to do, but trying to evade your pursuers is fun itself.
The driving is hella fun, I like how you can still save yourself while spinning out. Also, I got into the gate:

What an absolutely INCREDIBLE job you've done creating the atmosphere for this game. It's truly chilling. The tension you've created with the enemies is better than that of any horror movie I've watched. Beautiful, tense, stressful and one of a kind. This NEEDS to become something.
The driving mechanics are spot on. The car feels like it has weight to it and pursuits are fun and tense at the same time. The car in the rear-view is one of the most satisfying parts of this demo. You actually FEEL like you're being chased by an ominous, almost unstoppable threat, growing ever closer with every mistake. That makes your successes that much sweeter, when you manage to outsmart or outdrive your pursuer. It feels like you're being chased by a classic horror movie monster.

This needs support, what an absolutely brilliant gem in the rough we have here.
@Soul Challenger Please, you are pretty much bound to making this into a truly one of a kind video game experience. Your work is brilliant. If polished correctly this could become one of the greatest horror experiences we've ever seen. Thank you!
I'm afraid I won't be able to solve this. Will need a real programmer to sort that out. Sorry
Controller is not supported yet - I made a few tests but it felt worse than keyboard control. Its planned though
Do you have a multiple monitor setup, I'll look into it. I have heard from more people with cursor issues.
There's a small mission in the game - but it's not so obvious. See below
Nice! So you've found her. Did she run away from you when you get too close?
Super happy your experience was such as you described it. It's still too early after launch to make conclusions. I'll definitely need adequate funding and more competent people working on this. Been in crunch time for the last 8 months, and as much as I like working alone, this is not a project for one guy in the long run.
Oh man, this is SO GOOD!
The atmosphere is amazing. I've been following this thread since Page 1, and I'm so glad I finally get to play it.
Firstly, performance: Game runs >100fps for me with a Xeon E3-1230v3, 16GB DDR3, and a GTX 980 Ti. However loading the first time made me think the game wasn't working at all. Please add a loading screen of some sort.
Driving: The car feels amazing to drive. I feel like every spinout or crash is entirely my fault. Getting stuck in the mud is so panic inducing, and barely sliding around a corner feels great. Please consider including proper joystick/steering wheel support, especially if you could add force feedback.
Atmosphere: Incredible. The first time I rounded that corner and saw the headlights flick on behind me I about shit myself. The first time the enemy car caught me and I got Death, I almost freaked out. It's so good. At times I lament the heavy fog because it causes me to not see turns coming until its too late, but on the other hand I wouldn't ever take it away because it contributes so much to the atmosphere.
All in all, I'm super excited for where this game will go.
I don't know. I didn't try to hit her or anything, I just assumed she was something extra you forgot to remove.
Yeah.
