Thaks a lot for your feedback! There is a loading screen kind of thing where the instrument panel and headlights gradually lighten up when you press play but it's probably too subtle. I'll think of a better solution. At which resolution did you play? Steering wheel would be nice I totally agree. It will be complicated though because the driving physics plugin I use does not support FFB. Also they stopped licensing a few yers back (http://www.carx-tech.com/licensing-car-physics-engine-eng, so I'm stuck with the version I have or I will have to switch to a different car physics plugin. The visibility issue with the fog I hear often. I think I'll tone it down a bit. It could also be related to different monitor brightness/contrast levels. Oh no, she's an integral part of the only mission in the demo. Normally she should either run away, or if you showed her she can trust you, then she'll show you her crib and more. I'll look into the multi-monitor + cursor issue. That one I think I can figure out
whatcha doin out here? https://my.mixtape.moe/owbvmu.png
Worked first try, although weird respawning bug at start. Found some spooky guy in the forest walking around with a flashlight. Ran him over a few times and wedging him between trees makes him flip out and break his walking pattern, and will just stand in place ready to be hit again. Fell off the map and its the most realistic falling off the map Ive ever seen
I played at 2560x1440. For what it's worth, regarding loading, my experience was click start, game does not respond in any way for about 15 or 20 seconds, during which I try clicking a few more times, then trying a handful of keys. Then it loads the car scene, but it runs at about 0.5fps for another 10 seconds or so. Then it actually starts going. You could be absolutely right about the contrast. My monitor (Dell SG2717DG) has fairly mediocre color and contrast, so it's entirely possible it doesn't like the particular colors of the game. If I had an IPS display or better yet an OLED TV, it would probably fare much better.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj9W0QMqlDk&feature=youtu.be Like I said, video is nothing special, playing it in 1920x1080 with no noticeable FPS drops. Going to play some more today!
If anyone has issues with cursor not showing up / disappearing, here's a fix to try out: [url]WeTransfer
It has always looked fantastic ever since you started to show the first images and videos, but letting us drive the car ourselves, taking in the atmosphere, enjoying the views, this is a masterpiece in the making. The combined effect of the lighting, fog, scenario, the sound and gameplay; it just amazes me, and makes me crave for the full experience. Also, nevermind the fact that I love horror games, rally racing and classic cars, and not even in my wildest dreams I could have envisioned all those things masterfully combined in the same game. Now on to the feedback: It performs fine in my rig (i5 8400, 8GB DDR4 2666, 1050Ti 4Gb) at 1080p, I get between 30 FPS in the most lightning-intensive areas with headlights on, like the hydro plant, and 50 something in the rest of the areas, but even when it drops it's a pretty smooth experience, with no stutters at all. I got a weird bug in which the game kept resetting to the initial position constantly, it stopped after hitting R a few times. Checking the logs in the game folder i saw these errors repeating periodically: (Filename:  Line: 1526) The referenced script on this Behaviour is missing! And: (Filename:  Line: 1755) A script behaviour (probably AfsFoliageTool?) has a different serialization layout when loading. (Read 32 bytes but expected 2088 bytes) Did you #ifdef UNITY_EDITOR a section of your serialized properties in any of your scripts? The referenced script on this Behaviour (Game Object 'Dead Shrub Touch Bending Prefab') is missing!   Handling feels fantastic, bumping rear stiffness to around 12k makes for some amazing drifts and saves, and as other people pointed out, it feels like everytime you crash or get stuck is entirely your fault. I would kill to play this game with proper FFB, full pedal set, and an H shifter. About the fog, I have opposed feelings. On one hand, It might be a little too much, using your headlights bumps up the "whiteness" of the image too much, so to speak, distorting perception, but as you pointed out, it might have something to do with people's brightness and contrast settings. On the other hand, it allows me to just barely make out the contour of those roads without reflecting markers on the side, which makes for an amazingly stressing experience when you're being chased, specially before you get to know the layout of the road. To sum up: Keep up the good work mate, what you've given us so far is so unique and seems so promising, personally I can't wait to try the whole thing.
Agreed with you on the fog "Whiteness" when the lights are on, my brightness/contrast on both my montior and GFX card are sat at midway, so don't think it's related too that.
Amazing, very fun to play! https://youtu.be/LOaBNkVDjeg Considering it's Unity, it shouldn't be too hard to post to VR I assume? You'd gain a lot of fans, since indie VR games of this quality are far and few between, people obsess over each one of them available.
I've only noticed the cursor issue in windowed mode if that's any help
I'm so intrigued but I have no idea how to show her that I'm trustworthy. All I can think of is maybe not hitting anything on the way to get to her? That's an awfully big ask. Also I feel like the enemy vehicle is always faster than me, even when I'm going flat out on a straight road. How are they so fast when they have 4 enormous guys in the car and I only have myself??
Is it possible to lose the chasers? Kinda hard to stop for the lady otherwise.
Yes
I found something: https://my.mixtape.moe/xvxipo.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/596/fdf0426b-8e48-46e7-bac4-eb9e5d4f48c7/image.png https://my.mixtape.moe/luolfn.png https://my.mixtape.moe/whftgv.png I don't see the old lady though.
PT Nervously smokes in the corner
I'll have to try this demo as soon as i can. Exciting stuff!
I like that they have a far more powerful car than you. Fitting for a horror game. Also I found the babushka monster but I have no idea how trust works.
Not mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXspztQkHec
Well I guess your game is now one of those Youtube fad games, I kid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boKguvyMwpo
If nothing else Pewdiepie is a godsend for small talented indie devs, that's nearly 3 million views already
He seemed to actually enjoy it too unlike most of the shitty games he was playing a while back. Super cool to see a playable demo out! Been quietly monitoring this thread since it got posted. I would love to see wheel and FFB support but I understand that the physics 'engine' in use would have to get changed and that's a lot of work.
I managed to escape the terrain and fall into infinite void. I will interpret this as winning.
NerdCubed has covered it as well, and he's not one to bandwagon horror titles. Congrats dude, this deserves the attention!
The Fast and the Furious: Soviet Drift
Question: the car we're driving is Skoda 105 right? Because engine sounds like it's in the back and the dashboard looks kinda similar too. Also, bad guys are driving some Lada?
One suggestion for atmospheric I have is when the chasing car hits you, it should play a high pitch offtune piano key and when you lose the chasing car but it spots you again, it should play the same sound from the initial encounter by the factory when it gets close enough to shine it's headlight into your car.
When they start breaking windows, can we be showered in glass, and then if we manage to escape have a wind rushing sound out that side of the car?
Holy shit they have more than one car
Funhaus picked it up too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9dBmT1ZwVw
Can someone show me a youtuber who can actually drive? Also I "killed" the second car as well, but it turns out if the AI gets stuck they'll reset. I don't like that. At least have them do it once you've escaped - not during a chase. Or better, the goons have to get out and hit the car on one side to apply a torque that flips it over. https://cdn-b-east.streamable.com/video/mp4/87mez.mp4?token=Yiidu9MhZLiWFkMgXagvmQ&expires=1528476681
