Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback! I'm super happy you were able to enjoy the demo. I poorly programmed the main menu, so the game will load as many times as you hit play. Concerning rear stiffness, I use 16K (and 41 for front lock) - makes it harder to escape the chasing cars because of the extra oversteer. Thanks! Yeah VR is definitely very high on the wishlist. I'm not sure it's that easy to implement it properly so people don't get sick. I'm currently communicating with a studio specialized in VR to see how much it would cost. The granny will trust you if she sees you being chased by either of the two cars. I thought it would be logical to make it work this way but many players couldn't figure it out on their own, so I don't know. What do you think? The enemy vehicles have the same parameters as stated in my second post in this thread. Black car: 110Nm torque, Orange car: 105Nm, player car 101Nm - so it's not a huge difference. They are also heavier but not by much. In reality those four goons would probably add +350kg to the car's weight. That's an easter egg If you let the car fall for a longer period of time, things will get really weird (due to floating point precision issues). Thank you! Yeah lots of youtubers picked it up - I was quite surprised since I did not contact any of them beforehand. Yes, it's a Skoda 105 (rear engine, RWD). The goons are driving a Lada 2103 and a Dacia 1300. I had to simplify for lack of time but we're planning to have the sounds and music adapt to different situations in the full game. Yes, I wanted to implement that as well - will be in the full release
I saw a gameplay video just the other day, the game looks fucking incredible. When the chase music started my hairs stood on end. I'd play the demo but I don't want to spoil it for myself.
Those things are not in, yet. I wrote about it in the description on indieDB: "Quick and dirty getting in and out of cars for the enemies. Read instant. Enemy cars will recover quicker when stuck - goons getting out and pushing car not yet implemented" So, for now it's faked. If they're stuck in mud close to you, their car switches to 4WD after 5 seconds, until they're back on gravel/asphalt. If they're stuck and further than 150m from you, they'll just teleport back on the road. Concerning youtubers who can drive, this guy is pretty good IMHO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb4qVZW69lM :P
So, after roughly a month: 96K downloads and over 6M views on YouTube, which is great but does not get reflected on Patreon, where the amount pledged is still far below what I would need to be able to survive and continue working on this. It worries me quite a bit. Here's a clip showcasing new gameplay, where you can chase a "victim" car and help it to escape: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/270250/15f60002-9f4a-4a17-8063-d8632b0a21bd/Chaser_01.gif And here's a link to my patreon: https://www.patreon.com/ondrejsvadlena If you could take a look at it and maybe tell me if you feel there's something wrong there, I'd greatly appreciate.
Do you have any other social platform that leads to your Patreon? You need to put more emphasis on highlighting that since I am in no way aware that you are looking for funding, other than for your post here. The mention of it in IndieDB is barely visible since it is written in plain text at the end of an unformatted, lengthy description that admittedly even I didn't read it. Also, is it advertised within the game?
Be sure to advertise it in-game for the time being. That should help a lot with visibility.
I didn't really realize there was a patreon. I started supporting you now I know. Perhaps if you had included a little popup at the beginning of the game that says "Hey, if you like what you see consider supporting me on Patreon [link to patreon that opens in your browser here]" If you just ask people to type in the patreon that will stop a lot of people from doing it, so you have to make the link clickable since, no offense, but your name is hard for us Westerners to spell.
Thanks a lot for the quick feedback! I have direct links to the Patreon from both my twitter (1950 followers) and YouTube channel (1922 subs). There's also a clickable direct link from the demo's start menu. Good idea with the pop-up window! Generally, lots of people wondered why not a Kickstarter/early access. I'm aware that patreon is not the platform of choice for funding game development but still expected, maybe naively, that the quite positive reactions would attract more supporters. Last thing: on patreon, I offer working by myself on a "prologue", which would be kind of an intermediary version - maybe that's just not attractive to most people. I'm guessing that they would prefer me putting a team together and working on the full game (?)
imo if YandereDev can continue to exist, so can you. You gotta exert some confidence. Admittedly, if you feel that you need a team to bring the game to fruition, by all means, work towards that!
I had trouble finding your Patreon when I tried the first time.
Some more "helping other victims escape" gameplay: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/270250/d2c1d252-3053-4f00-ad5d-67ef445ccb20/VictimRescue_01.gif
Put a big fat Patreon button on the title screen to your game, it might look a bit tacky but you'll get funds.
I got vorpx to work with this, so basic VR, but it helps with looking around while driving.

Hey, anywhere else we can follow you- other than Patreon and your Youtube channel? With newpunch's fate being uncertain still, I'd never forgive myself for losing track of this project
loving this shit
Love to see this project still alive! By far the most intriguing driving game I've ever seen
Concerning (anti)social media - I'm probably most active on twitter: twitter.com/Ondrej_Svadlena . Also on instagram since shortly, but much less frequent posts there: instagram.com/ondrej_svadlena/ Yeah, what's happening with Facepunch? I remember it was such a vibrant crowded place back in 2008, when I discovered it by chance. Thank you Thanks! It should get even more alive once production of the full game starts - hopefully this fall.
Such great stuff - I remember seeing this thread long ago and I'm really impressed with your work. Short version is that Garry isn't interested in maintaining the forums and so they are at risk of shutting down (there are other things, but this is probably the most important). Inacio is making a spin-off forum as a backup in case FP is shuttered. Several of the mods plan to follow in such a case - but the spin-off is not super active and probably won't be unless FP actually goes down.
