I'm mostly concerned for the single player content\gameplay but i thought the rage came from thinking the game was a kickstarter but instead it's just some project?

The game being a prequel for one, when the original left off on a massive cliffhanger and all the previous hints and trailers seeming to be a sequel. But also, while the original game was dark certainly, it was still somewhat cartoony and characters held back from harsh language. To have this thing suddenly dropping F-bombs left, right and center at least once a minute until they escape the police, it's incredibly jarring.

I guess it kinda makes sense. The audience that played the original is a lot older now, so Ubisoft probably thought it would be smart to make it more mature. I'm not sure if I'm completely sold on it yet but I am remaining optimistic. They wouldn't keep this game secret for so long unless they had a good idea on what they are doing.
Either that or it was a major clusterfuck behind the scenes and this is the best concept they could salvage. I certainly want an inside look into the history of BG&E2. I bet there's some really interesting stories they wanted to explore but couldn't.
