Beyond Good & Evil 2 stands out so much because Ubisoft proclaimed they wouldn't show it at E3 a while ago only to do it anyway, and because of its near-legendary status it's achieved over the years due to desire for a sequel. But it's also iffy since it could be taking the classic in an entirely different direction than anyone imagined (or wanted). Was there any other similar surprises besides Mario x Rabbids not looking like absolute shit?
Is it like... natural law that a spiderman game has to have QTEs? Has there ever been a Spidey game without it?
The ones on Playstation 1 didn't have any but those were forever ago Probably the snes ones too but that's going too far back
A boring E3 isn't really the same as a bad one. Like at least most of the games are okay or good, and besides Bethesda there wasn't a whole lot to just be aggravating. While straight up bad ones are funnier to watch I'd rather have decent things to play.
I agree with that, I think I'd go back on calling it bad, but man was it boring. It's true that it's sort of funny that we hated the presentation and theatrics of E3 so much in past years but tbh now that it's just a trailer reel I have to say I prefer the former. Grass is always greener I guess
my point was that having a stage didn't really benefit sony at all. in fact i would say it hindered the conference when you consider all those times they would cut to shots of the audience or their stage to show off their lighting
But there was live music and stage presence.
Honestly Microsoft and Ubisoft felt more like they were genuinely a celebration of gaming in general whereas the rest felt like they were trying extra hard to peddle shit by holding games hostage as exclusives.
It probably doesn't help that most of the really new stuff seems to be going straight for VR which is still a pretty small market
VR is a big trend right now for investors, so having it will get you money. E3 typically is more for that than it is "for the players"
BIG BONGO UPDATE PLEASE READ [t]http://puu.sh/wivug.png[/t] Bongo card post-Sony. Political space on the checklist was activated by Tropico 6. I also decided to just accept The Last Night as the 80s game. I've updated the rules: - Platinum prizes are double bongo+sins, OR triple bongo. - Gold prizes are double bongo, or bongo+sins (basically everyone is qualified if you score a natural bongo). - Silver and Bronze are still single bongo. - If you complete all your sins (everyone should have by now) you can instead count those towards turning another space into a free space. Keep in mind, this will nullify your sins! So prizes may be locked out by doing this instead of waiting for Nintendo. Personal Ranking In Terms of Stuff I wanna Play Sony = Ubisoft > Microsoft > Bethesda > EA Personal Ranking In Terms of Most Well Done Conferences Xbox > Ubisoft > EA > Sony > Bethesda
In the end, I think that the theatrics were what gave E3 it's character and this conference lacked that quite a bit. It was too sterile and too safe.
VR is a big trend right now for investors, so having it will get you money. E3 typically is more for that than it is "for the players"
Yeah definitely. For me it's all very exciting because I have an HTC Vive, but it's definitely sort of a bummer to see some interesting games that most people have to go "oh i don't have VR"
Also the Skyrim VR trailer was on par with the Darwin Project trailer in terms of lessons on how not to sell a game.
No devil may cry and no from soft, see you guys at tgs in september.
BIG BONGO UPDATE PLEASE READ [t]http://puu.sh/wivug.png[/t]
What did you mark lust for?
If Beth just wants to keep selling us its old games they could of at least made another Fallout spinoff but I think its destined to stay in the incompetent hands of Bethsoftworks.
BIG BONGO UPDATE PLEASE READ bongo my butthole
oh so its safe to mark off spots even if you missed announcements? also whats with the yellow borders? [editline]13th June 2017[/editline]
What did you mark lust for?
i marked mine because anime games are easy
I was actually wrong, I kept saying Mr. Sinister for the Spider-Man game but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Mr. Negative. Pretty interesting choice for a villain
You know E3 just isn't the same without G4 and Gametrailers. Every year I get further away from E3 because it use to be so fun but now it's like, confusing where to watch, and when. I still enjoy the spirit of E3 though, just not the same
Easy Allies is most of the gametrailers crew. I generally like seeing their reaction/recap of stuff. Their reactions to last years Sony showcase were particularly hilarious. Despite being so close to games for so long they aren't super cynical about them like a fair number of the other big game channels (and most FPers apparently) and have an open mind to new games, but will still analyze and critique what they see, while still having personalities (unlike other channels).
This E3 really hasn't helped with the "I feel like I'm outgrowing games" thoughts I've been having over the last few months.
What did you mark lust for?
That sexy pig boy
This E3 really hasn't helped with the "I feel like I'm outgrowing games" thoughts I've been having over the last few months.
dont let the sterilizing environment sway you. ive felt that way for a while but im still slamming money down for dark souls and crash remakes. definitely more aware of shitty games though
Someone had it right, 50 pages ago. We're in an off-year (hopefully) where everything's in development and they have nothing to show. ...But really, no RDR? :saddowns: And I hate to say it, but I miss the cringe and the bad memes. Cringe is half of the entertainment.
all nintendo has to do is show more mario odyssey, announce smash bros deluxe, and they win what a terrible e3
rockstar is never at E3 anyway so I wasn't really expecting RDR2
Personal Ranking In Terms of Stuff I wanna Play Sony = Ubisoft > Microsoft > Bethesda > EA Personal Ranking In Terms of Most Well Done Conferences Xbox > Ubisoft > EA > Sony > Bethesda
Same for the first one. The only game topping Sony imo is Shadow of War, but was that Microsoft's or Ubisoft's conference?
rockstar is never at E3 anyway so I wasn't really expecting RDR2
GTA V PC was revealed at the Sony show two years ago. I guess we can expect a trailer in the next few months at least.

I'm expecting they'll show it during the game awards or something.
oh man look at all that i dont have time for because those are regular working hours
This E3 really hasn't helped with the "I feel like I'm outgrowing games" thoughts I've been having over the last few months.
I dunno, I found myself going through the Microsoft, Ubisoft and even Bethesda conferences excited like a kid on christmas because most of the games shown looked legitimately fun.

this could've been literally their conference why would they not do that?
