Apparently special characters and vehicles are unlocked by in-game points earned by playing the game, replacing the pickup token system.

I do like the new Battle Point system, gives everybody a chance to be the Special Mechs/Spaceships/Heroes/ect.

Imo yes, I like just being able to play regularly and then spawn in with a vehicle if I feel like I need it
This looks much better than the previous battlefront, and having free DLC fixes the biggest problem with the first one.
