Far Cry 5 - Shoot Dirty Cultish Hipsters in Montana with guns and stuff

It really feels like the game was like, mega rewritten at some point and then they desperately needed to find places to slot in the stupid quests
I feel like Ubisoft tried to emulate Rockstar's satirical america stuff with a lot of the writing in this game, but they don't really execute it quite as well.
It's kinda 50/50. The game isn't bad by any means, but has the same problems as Far Cry 2 in regards to having to travel a lot between missions/for missions. The game isn't boring by any means, but it can get a bit repetitive.
I've had fun for pretty much the entire time I've played, but I find myself taking a breather just due to all the travelling. In all, I'd say it's probably worth full price, and isn't an unfinished game by any means.
I'm having a blast with this game, but I'm getting really annoyed with my deaths. It's usually at some point that I get swarmed because either somehow all the areas around my current mission get aggrod or a mission spawns way more enemies than my weapons/healthbar can handle.
I haven't really had many issues with travelling around the map. There's fast travel points literally everywhere, and once you get the airdrop perk that lets you just wingsuit wherever you want, it makes travel incredibly easy compared to FC2
as someone who dropped the series after finishing far cry 3 (and liberating all of the outposts) i think i'll be 100%ing this one if my two 6-8 hour sessions so far say anything.
my main gripe is the whole "capture party" mess where you're (literally) pulled out of whatever you're doing to deal with another story beat but the free roam and everything has been hella refreshing, even though the last open world game i bothered to play was watch dogs 2 which i liked a fair bit also, but its depiction of san francisco doesn't have shit on hope county.
also i <3 the companions and stuff, particularly jess and peaches.
Boy you're in for a treat if you never been to the deep south/midwest. Because there's people who actually exsist like that.
Oh I didn't even know there was a wingsuit airdrop perk, I haven't even bothered unlocking the wingsuit itself lol. My main problem was that you have to actually reach the fast travel points before you can use them(obviously), but I kept accidentally going off road and blowing up, or being swarmed by random enemies and killed before I could reach them(which is annoying when they are like 5 or so minutes away from your closest fast travel).
The wingsuit drop will probably help with that though, so thanks!
I don't even use cars anymore, I just air drop fast travel to the closest place and wing suit to where I'm going.
I still like driving. Offroading in a shitty Toyota Corolla doing drive-bys with an edgy archer gf is pretty sweet.
Jess is great. She's a psycho punk bitch and she's great.
In general I love all the character dialogue, how they'll talk about different places in the world or different characters and things you're doing.
the shit hurk says is just amazing
The only character I haven't liked all that much is Adelaide, I mean I get what they were going for, but she just comes across as annoying rather than crude-funny. I'm not a big fan of ran-dumb humour in general so I've only really taken Jess, Grace, and Boomer around so far due to that, although I did like Nick as well, I just don't find him useful.
I really like Faith as a character in particular, and really just all the Seeds in general as well.
The last time I took Jess hunting she decided it'd be better to incendiary arrows instead of regular ones.
one of the cultists happened to say "burn in holy fire!" and jess was happy to oblige by hitting him with an incendiary arrow.
also i dunno if im the only one who was having issues with the "flavor country" side mission but this was a rather helpful spot that allowed me to finish the mission.
Are the endings described really the only endings available? Has it been confirmed that there isn't a special ending for getting 100% before the final encounter? It really seems weird that the game would make it so that every single ending is a massive downer ending that lets the main antagonist get away with all his shit.
its dumb how they punish you for mass killing civvies by just magically suiciding you
All Ubisoft games do that. Farcry, Assassin's Creed, Wildlands. They have a pretty hard and fast policy against allowing civilian murder.
I'm gonna join the "people who hate the ending" club.
I get what they wanted to do but the whole thing felt wonky, overexaggerated and rushed. Don't wanna let go? Well boom, the whole world is fucked and it's all your fault you meanie. The whole story is fucked actually. It keeps moralizing you and calling you out for spreading chaos all along despite... not being the case ? Hope County was already chaos before you arrive and all you do is defending yourself and innocent people against peggies. All previous Far Cry games had interesting stories that would develop into making you think "hey, maybe what I'm doing is wrong" but this never happens in FC5. Eden's Gate is literally ISIS in America. And the people who fight against them are good people, civilians who just want to live out of the cult's atrocities. Not rival cultists, warlords or other kinds of folks we had in previous games. EVERYTHING you do against peggies is totaly justified.
But nope. The last fight against Joseph feels like playing games with a kid who keeps making shit up so he never loses. "You may have baten me in this fight but now the whole world explodes and I win nyeh nyeh".
The walk away ending is obviously noncannon since it doesn't get you the endgame achievements and the mission is still to do when you go back after the credits. It's really a missed opportunity. Leaving Joseph alive, but broken because of his siblings being dead and his cult kicked out of Hope County was very satisfying tbh.
the gunplay would be so much better if the weapons had a crysis style customization interface. instead you have to go find a gun dealer if you want to do something as simple as change a scope or remove a silencer. same can be said about custom ammo types, it would be a lot faster to have a gun specific menu hotkey than having to navigate a bulky, crowded menu.
I'm still sore about not having a Deputy jacket.
Did anyone else find the poster that brings you into one of Ubisoft's levels in Farcry Arcade? The one with all the clocks. And goats.
It was fucking trippy.
Game i've completed twice

What the fuck, I just shot two cultists holding someone hostage, then the hostage still on her knees starts panicking and shoots herself in the head with a shotgun
this is some RDR level grim shit
Earlier I was doing Jess' first quest with Cheeseburger tagging along and for literally no reason at all, he just mauled her while we were sneaking around the woods. Not even in combat or anything, I guess he just decided he was tired of her shit??
Anyone got confirmation if modding still works?
so im about ~20-ish hours in and i've never used an ai companion or a vehicle outside required instances.
Also even dumber things regarding capture missions... I have a fucking squad with me and I'm captured in a crowd of friendlies???
It's like other games with Ai partners, most of the time the enemy AI will completely ignore them unless they're supposed to be loud and obnoxious (aka the 2 pilots and the bear).
