Based on Crytek’s original Far Cry directed by Cevat Yerli. Powered by Crytek’s technology “CryEngine.”
Presumably referring to the previous sentence
The controversy has started: It's just as fucking stupid as the claims Resident Evil 5 was racist because most of the zombies were black. ... of course they were, it took place in fucking Africa...
What's everyone's prediction for how they will treat the politics of all this when it comes to the main story? I can see 3+1 possible outcomes. 1. Outright say or heavily imply that right-wing/religious extremism is bad. 2. Outright say or heavily imply that all extremism is bad. 3. Say or imply nothing, or than "yeah these guys are nuts". 4. (Insanity Option) Outright say or heavily imply that right-wing/religious extremism is misunderstood/just desperate/etc.
The resistance seem to be still christians.
One of the resistance is a fucking pastor iirc
One of the resistance is a fucking pastor iirc
And one of the more nuanced characters as seen so far. Everyone else is "Boohoo my family/town/way-of-life" and the pastor is disparaging the socio-economic disparity that likely allowed such a cult of personality to form.
Yeah, population per real existing county, we're talking about a fictional county, we don't know how many people actually live in it.
Gonna be a whole lot less by the time we're done with them. It's just like any other modern video game, where they pluck out a fictional version of real criminal group, make them about ten times worse so its justifiable to murder them all, and then swell their numbers into the hundreds for some good old fashion shootin'.
1:56 on the trailer it says cryengine though.
Look at the trailers for FarCry 3, 4 and Primal. They all say the same thing.
Ok yeah I watched the new trailer and read all the posts responding to my post and it looks like it's just going to be shitting on religious dictators instead of religious extremism as a whole. I'm getting reminded of all those movies with fascist pseudo-religious leaders from movies such as V for Vendetta, Equilibrium, and Priest but it's more grounded in reality where instead of it being a massive country or a massive city, it's just a small town in buttfuck nowhere. While religious extremism was an element in those movies, the focus was about the people in power instead of the idea. Far Cry 2-4 likes to focus on their villains. Like no shit is given about the people you kill, they're labeled as minions and that's it.

Even in regards to the people you're working with.
I've never really cared for the story of Far Cry. Far Cry one (the original PC version) was the first PC game I ever bought and loved every second of it. Far Cry 2 had a shite story, but the game play was fun. Far Cry 3 had the best story, along with Blood Dragon. I liked the FC 4 story until I realised that Pagan Min basically gets 15 minutes of screen time. All in all, the stories for FC have been quite lacking BUT the game play, imo, has always been superb and can keep me hooked for hours. Exploring, hunting & fighting - that's why I play the Far Cry series.
Far Cry 3 was excellent for pioneering the modern FC gameplay but its novelty wears off after 2 games of same old, same old. I didn't even bother to finish Primal. Really eager to see if FC5 spices up the old formula.
Far Cry has gameplay that's really video gamey, which is why I like it, it's something you don't need to change but instead add on to it, more stuff to do that's actually engaging and less chore like
Why there's no news thread about ongoing petition aimed at either cancelling the game or totally rewriting the script changing christians to muslims?
Why there's no news thread about ongoing petition aimed at either cancelling the game or totally rewriting the script changing christians to muslims?
Because anyone can make a petition and they hold no real power.

Also I'd like some American Flag/eagle gun paints and shit since we're in Montana.
I really hope the villain dude isn't just the usual religious nut trope character and that the pastor guy isn't just a less hobo Longinus from FC4. 1 guy non stop saying bible verses is already too much.
All I want is a world that actually feels alive. Far Cry 3 and 4 may have had gameplay so much more polished than Far Cry 2, but 2's world and the way the entities in it react to the world is something I haven't seen in anything yet.
Like Far cry 4, co-op mode. Sadly far cry primal didn't had it. So here's me hoping for co-op with lots of fun.
It is pretty hilarious to see thousands crying in unison for absolutely nothing though.
I find it hilarious as to what it says about the people who clearly associate with Branch Davidian-style nuts enough to want them to not be represented in a videogame.
Pagan Min best [del]villian[/del] leader
I still consider the ending where you wait for Pagan Min to get back to be the Canon ending for Far Cry 4.
I still consider the ending where you wait for Pagan Min to get back to be the Canon ending for Far Cry 4.
Its the only one that makes any kind of sense
Its the only one that makes any kind of sense
I dunno, I just finished it today and I like the ending I got. [Sp]Chose Sabal, spared Amita, spared Pagan, was given Kyrat to do with as I please, saw Sabal start slitting throats, gave him a SPAS 12 shot to the face, headcanon is that I'm now the ruler of Kyrat, and based on how I played the game, I'm just like Pagan albeit minus the torture and bathing in blood and things of that nature.[/sp] In any case the endings are miles ahead of FC3
There's absolutely no reason to shoot Pagan because he never did anything bad to you personally. Also by the time you arrive to Kyrat he's already [sp]a broken man who doesn't give a single fuck about the country and the real power is in the hands of his lieutenants who's responsible for all the bloodshed around.[/sp] Also your "allies" are no better than Pagan too. I really enjoyed FC4's grey morality.
Ya know what I like about the newest Far Cry the most? No more fake accents :v:
The setting alone has me interested. It's surprisingly unique. Judging from that alone it seems like they may be trying to mix things up from the previous numbered titles (I never played Primal) and that's really what the series needs. Far Cry 4 was so much like 3 it was like playing the game again but with a shittier story and a talking rock with a gun for a main character. It became repetitive and boring very quickly, as did 3, but at least 3 had a good enough story to keep me interested.
I absolutely loved the setting of FO4, but I just hated both Sabal and Amita's side, the overall story was a bit bland, I almost wish I could have just sided with Pagan properly (well, other than the surprise ending!) and taken the religious bigot and the drug dealing terrorist down.
Sorry about the bump, but I had a question for anyone who's been following development. I googled this, checked Reddit, but couldn't find anything about it. Far Cry 4 had restrictions on how far apart co-op players could get from each other. It was extremely annoying, but it wasn't awful considering that there were no fixed-wing aircraft and that the only flyable helicopter in the game was very slow. In Far Cry 5, with fixed-wing planes, such a restriction would be extremely disappointing, even if the distance was more generous. Really, I'd prefer no restriction on distance at all. Anyone else hear anything about this?
Felt like I had to mega-bump the thread seeing as this game comes out in 20 days. We've got tonnes of new videos and information.
