Far Cry 5 - Shoot Dirty Cultish Hipsters in Montana with guns and stuff

I finally forced a confrontation with Jacob and all the fun of doing the sidequests just got completely sucked out when Rye got his "sin " converted. Jesus the mood whiplash makes me want to ignore all the main quests. Especially after hearing Jacobs speech before he died.
I haven't even finished the game yet and I honestly hate this plot now. I can't let go of the feeling that I'm being forced to experience the shit against my will, semi-literally getting strapped down to a fucking chair having all the monologues and shit forced down my fucking throat. The whiplash of going from raiding outposts with a bear to suddenly getting shot by arrows shot from impossible angles (as if the writers themselves are smiting you from the heavens) and passing out for no fucking reason constantly. I want to explore the fucking mountains but every time I do anything significant it triggers the fucking plot.
Is it not a basic design principle to let the player experience shit at their own pace? Why am I so passive and weak in cutscenes? It's terrible from a narrative and game design standpoint, how did no one realize this was gonna be annoying as shit?
Some of the guns for hire will say Transform and Roll our when they get in any vehicle with you
Adelaide will sometimes say "Punch it, Chewy! ...I bet you loved that, didn't you, you fucking nerd?"
I think Sharky is probably my least favorite gun for hire. As soon as I finished his challenges, I never used him again.
does she even exist in the real world?
I got the second to last silo down in the first region and was really worried about all the land I had to search for the last one, opened my map, planned a route to fly over for searching, got in a helicopter, turned around to start flying and it was right across the fucking road.
Anybody feel like the story progresses way too quickly? I filled the resistance bars in each territory way too fast while not completing many missions. Just rescuing citizens and capturing outposts gives you more than enough points.
If you find some notes scattered around her region it's heavily implied Faith isn't even one specific person and is actually a bunch of different women the cult kidnapped and convinced them that they were Faith.
also Joseph Seed tells you there were many faiths, but she was his favorite.
the parody character of Alex Jones read word for word from his' "THIS IS WHAT WE LOOK LIKE, THIS IS WHAT WE ACT LIKE" rant
More buggy physics anyone?

Once I got all their kill challenges done I stopped bringing the guns for hire. They keep fucking up my scouting and randomly decide to attack enemies whenever they feel like it.
That's why I take Jess and Peaches. They are stealthy and kill quietly.
You would see earthquakes, not explosions. The game's ending is hamfisted and honestly incredibly insulting to the player intelligence.
Fuck that Jess mission. It's 2018 and you still can't program AI that runs at your exact speed?
That's not how it works though, the entire section with Jacob just sent me up a wall because its pop psychology at best.
Are... are 3 of the 4 SMGs really the -exact- same gun?
The game itself is the most solid Far Cry yet, and I absolutely loved it, but the weapon selection is abysmal.
Yep, 3 of the 4 primary SMGs are all MP5 variants, with next to no differences between them. Same for the fact there are basically 4 identical .44 revolvers, with minimal stat differences, and the weapon selection being padded, by having reskins put up as whole new weapons. This goes both for the really ornate ones, and the much more simple ones, like the pump shotty being identical between 3 iterations, and the same for all assault rifles.
I seriously don't understand - this was their chance for so many weapons - keeping the flare gun, adding a couple extra AR-15 derivatives, polished up models from previous Far Cry games, I find it hard to fathom. Hell, the fact that the cult literally uses the same basic weapons all the time is mad enough - am I to believe that the only side by side you get is with the traders!? The attachments being identical too is a pain.
Like all of the reskinned but identical weapons should just be shoved in with the actual weapon premium skin that is available under the weapon customisation screen. That'd reveal the truth, which is you basically have 3-4 guns per category at best.
Wow I just went to IMFDB and Far Cry 4 has way more unique weapons that actually have differences, as well as unique attachments.
The fuck happened?
yeah weapon selection is stupidly flat, it gets very annoying to keep shooting the same baddies with the exact same AR that i had since the start of the game, the fact that some guns that use different models have NO stat differences doesnt help
Not to mention the Signature weapons which are more than just re-skins.
Man, the M60 in this game is such a disappointment. My fav part of Far Cry 4 is the Signature MG42 which so fucking OP it's hilarious.
My guess is that they focused more on the world and gameplay than they did much else, and then also contended with their adherence to the cosmetics and other stuff while having to awkwardly slot in a plot on top, so they cheesed out on both.
Ubisoft's been very good about patching up and improving their games lately, and the Arcade will already get large content updates, so we'll just have to see if they take extra steps with the main game too.
I wasn't a fan of the signature weapons being outright better than all the other weapons TBH.
You did have to unlock them first before you could buy them.
Even if it was dire, we wouldn't Nuke our own country unless it was the only solution.
Far as I can tell from the evidence in and leading up to the ending, it's pure dramatic circumstance that the nukes drop right after arresting Joseph. Russia was nuked, an unnamed aggressor decided to take shit out on other nations (might be a batshit China or something, who knows), and America ultimately catches the crossfire with Montana getting at least 3 nukes dropped on it (each of them notably outside the play area so you couldn't even check if you wanted to). All Joseph needed was some wifi or radio access to the news to be able to see the end was coming after the nation was put into such a large state of emergency, so he's no prophet. Just an insane man trying to create his own personal army to rule the ashes with.
So I beat the game this morning, and as it turns out I got the bad ending with the nukes.
God its so fucking bittersweet. Like yeah I guess they could have wrapped up the story a little better but come on, what the fuck was that final boss fight? How the hell was Joseph able to win over my friends that quickly with Bliss.
I saw some theory on reddit about how the deputy could have been tripping the fuck out on Bliss and nothing was actually real, but y'know it's all speculative.
its north korea. you can hear about it on the radio. it makes it even more ridiculous
You know, the more people describe these radio broadcasts the more it boggles my mind why they're optional and so easy to miss. I kept hearing these but since the audio mixing is so bad, I couldn't hear them most of the time and since I couldn't hear them I just ignored them.
It's quite clear that they are important to understanding the wider plot of the game.
I would have much preferred to listen to these broadcasts with the other characters in a cutscene than be subjected to 50 lame monologues by people whose words I have no reason to trust.
