Far Cry 5 - Shoot Dirty Cultish Hipsters in Montana with guns and stuff

If anything you're doing them a favor.
I had Sharky repeat "JESS I JUST WANNA SAY--" about 20-25 times before he actually finished
I can't rationalize the resist ending being nuclear war. It's just so ham fisted and strange that we're given almost no hints at this til after the game is over. Maybe my shit is buggy but I never once heard radio news til after I was finished with the game. Same thing with a friend who chose Walk Away. That and we also apparnetly had all of our friends bliss'd up and then two fucking barrels of it knocked down at our feet, then I'm assuming the resist ending literally had the player and others tripping fucking balls after having arrested Seed. Why? Because the fucking NPCs congragulate you on taking down Joseph Seed or arresting him in the resist ending.
I imagine Ubi would retcon it as such as tripping balls because there's no way in hell that shit was real if coming out of the Bliss earlier in the game was anything to go by. Joseph also made a nuclear explosion in the Bliss in that one cutscene, so something tells me he was just fucking with the player and everyone else to kill them.
I'm seeing a lot of people talk about not hearing the radio broadcast until after beating the game and I'm noticing I only heard it after beating it as well. Further, isn't it brought up that no signals really reach Hope county? Hence why until you help that Whitetail kid the only station that plays is the one for the cult. So yeah, I'm pretty sure you'd never hear the broadcast while the cult is active to begin with. So if we take the shitshow ending as real, it means its literally impossible to know about that radio broadcast because it can't be played until after the fact. Which means its more trying to justify the ending than hinting at it.
The nukes were a surprise but I did like the twist. That said, I don't really care whether or not the nuclear war was real I just want to kill the fucker that I've been wanting to kill the entirety of the whole fucking game, to end up becoming his little bunker bitch really left me feeling unsatisfied as fuck and I hope there's DLC or something to expand on the ending and actually let me kill the fucker.
Yeah that’s not good writing to come up with that out of nowhere with no sign posting or anything, and then explore it poorly.
It just felt bad IMO.
No, I heard some of the broadcasts earlier in the game. The thing is, as far as I know, they only play on the radio in Holland Valley. It seems like all three regions all have their non-cult station for some reason, Hollands being some rock and country, Henbane River being oldies, I think, and Whitetail Mountains being static until you help Wheaty (and for me, not even then, even after I collected all the records. Glitch?) I don't know why all three stations aren't county-wide, so we can have some selection. Personally, I didn't start using cars very often until after I was already done with the valley, so it's a miracle I heard the one news report I did hear.
"They thank you for taking down Joseph"
Fucking what? I hadn't beaten the game yet and I knew about the endings and how the game implies Joseph is gone with the x on his face on the map but I told myself "what's going to confirm this theory is if the people acknowledge this" and you're saying they do?
Christ man it's like they knew if the game ended with you coming out as victorious their narrative would be meaningless so they shoehorned in "heads I win , tails you lose" ending and threw in the subtle implications after. It feels like even more of a mess now
exceptIt feels like they didn't know what ending they wanted so they just shoved in both "oh actually the endings sucks everyone's gone sorry...
It's not like the whole story revolves around the cult trying to get as many people into the bunker as possible, the great collapse, mentioned every minute, doomsday preppers, multiple radio messages about political tensions and that a great fire will cleanse the earth.
I can tolerate the nukes tbqh, but what I can't tolerate is that the nukes go off right when Joseph gets apprehended or even worse; not at all when he doesn't like he really does have divine powers when it's pretty clear he "read the headlines" and decided to be the leader of the survivors.
I'm pretty sure I only give a shit about the upcoming dlc purely so people can make more shit for Arcade. Arcade is fucking amazing
Plus side of Far Cry 5 is that the music is out fucking standing, props to the guys who did all the ambient and combat music. And extra special thnkas to the dudes who did all the cult music. Because it sounds so goddamn good.

How do I make this garbage not autoplay
Arcade hero mode is getting ruined by every idiot uploading their "test map v.01" that took them 10 minutes. It's also really annoying to play multiplayer because I don't want to play a 6v6 tdm that requires 200 kills to win and and hour of game time for the same amount of arcade XP as playing an outpost.
I was thinking of making a journey map that goes from a town to a cave, or an outpost that's a summer camp, but I'm nervous it wouldn't be a good level or I'd spend too much time on it.
Despite FC5's idea about choice, I feel like it's beyond limited. A lot of people have pointed out that there's 0 way to actually non-lethally take these people down. One the bigger plot points is that the Deputy is an wrathful person whose killing hundreds of people to satisfy their revenge. I mean yeah, I wasn't given the ability to knock people out, or detain them somewhere. That and it's just so fucking self-righteous to say the protag is bad because they killed people, but the 4 antags and their cult have murdered and brutalized people for no reason other than sick pleasure. Hell Jacob's final "CONDITIONING" thing has you actually killing people when you get to the bunker, I literally called this out the 2nd time I did it, I even knew something was off when I saw that I could move the bodies, but I HAVE TO KILL ELI!? I can't just completely and utterly break his "conditioning" by not doing what he wanted me to do? Come the fuck on, that's beyond weak and shows that the devs and the story team think the player is fucking stupid.
Yeah, on the last one, I got to where Eli actually is and purposefully stopped because I understood what was happening, ran out of time, and on the subsequent playthrough, it just auto killed him as soon as I got through the final doorway. The devs made sure that even if the player outright knew and the jig was up that they'd get their railroaded story through regardless. I mean, this isn't exactly and RPG, but come on man.
Also, on my second time caught by Jacob, I tried far, far too many times to run through the gauntlet without killing anyone. I almost got through, but the final corridor is brutal. It helped that after you fail a certain number of times, the amount of time you have increases. I think it was giving me a minute ten by the end, which is more than enough when you're actually playing correctly.
I just wanted to write about the loading screen for the Whitetail Mountains. You know, the one of the forest stream with the wolf? When I was driving across the country with my dog, I'd stop every 2 hours to give him a chance to piss. On one such stop in the mountains of Idaho, close enough to the border of Montana and Missoula, I parked myself onto the soft shoulder of a fishing spot much like we see in the game and spent a good half hour wading into the river with my dog. That stream had all the same beauty and calm as the Whitetail Mountains loading screen and I spent probably twice as much time in the region as the two others combined because of all the memories it brought back of the mountains and parks around Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. Everytime the loading screen comes up, it hits me in the gut like a sack of rocks. My dog isn't with me anymore unfortunately, but my god the devs did a good job with the environments of this game. Makes me really wish I was back there at times.
Yeah, the loading screens are extremely comfy. I wish I could use them as a theme or something on my PS4 menu.
I was watching my girlfriends tiny chiuaua beagle mix sleep on my pillow whenever Faith's loading screen was on and it was pretty comfy to see imo
Yeah there were a lot of missed opportunities here with playing as a police officer. There could've been some interesting challenges with trying to handle situations in a non-lethal way or trying to stick within the boundaries of the law. Even Battlefield: Hardline, a generic as hell FPS, let you hold people at gunpoint and arrest them. Having non lethal options and the story reflect those options would have greatly strengthened the game.
You can't make me feel bad for a choice that I didn't have, same problem I have with other games that do this sort of thing like Spec Ops: The Line.
I think It's funny how they made the character mute so you could connect to them more but they do things you wouldn't do and end up disconnecting from them.
Kind of shitty that they just show off the ending without warning.
"its not about a certain administration"
"it feels like it is"
FUCK
OFF
Why must they desperately try to relate it to something in real life?
Also I beat it the other day, and I guess I'm in the minority of not hating the ending.
Yeah, it sucks that Joseph was technically right about everything and he doesn't get justice, but I appreciate how ballsy it felt. Fucking nuking the world and leaving you to be trapped in a bunker with Joseph was a pretty uncomfortable way to end things. The part that still doesn't sit well with me is the fact that everyone else is dead. RIP Peaches.
I'm happy they did something different, but I feel like the only reason I'm not pissed off about it is the fact that I really didn't care about the story at all. I felt totally disconnected from everything that was happening, despite enjoying the gameplay.
That was a meme though
a jolly good meme
I really hope they don't stop supporting the game after those 3 DLCs. They HAVE to follow up that ending with something.
I'll take silent protag over set Ubisoft personality any day. They're usually really hard to connect with because they're written to tell a story, not to "be" the player.
Ive been doing Faith's Region, but i accidentally wandered into the Whitetail mountains once. The loading screen reminded me of some forested mountains that my extended family owns property in, we would travel there every summer throughout my childhood.
As soon as Faith's corpse hits the ground I'm driving straight there, golden shotgun in hand.
