They really undersold this, but those news reports only show up on Wheaty's pirate radio station. The one you need to break the jammers to even access, Dutch's radio tower. Those news reports cannot be fabricated.
I really liked the aesthetic of Far Cry 4. You could definitely tell the devs watched Drive and Only God Forgives when they made it. They even got Cliff Martinez for the soundtrack.
The "You're the baddie" ending would have worked a lot better if they had stuck closer to a Branch Dividian or Jonestown scenario where the player arriving was the catalyst for the violence, but when they're already going around flaying people before you get there it's a hard message to buy.
It feels like you "starting it" was supposed be the intent but shit like Jess' story and the video that results in you being sent to arrest Joseph in the first place breaks that whole idea. What really seems to happen is that the cult was maybe somewhat less overt prior to the attempted arrest and Joseph said that you attempting to take him away was the trigger to cut loose and take over the county. Nothingng that happens is actually a result of you making a bad decision because all you're doing is responding to the violence the cult is creating. Trying to lay blame on you for any of this is just asinine and the idea of it comes off as some part of the writing team having a vaguely Spec Ops The Line sort of idea only to fuck it up every other place in the story.
New live event is up and the personal reward is a custom Vector.
I feel like having the character be a silent protagonist was a huge misstep. Normally i'm all for silent protagonists as they let me carve out my character how I see fit. But then the game gives you so much freedom during gameplay then no freedom at all during cutscenes.
Yeah, and there's no character expressive freedom (which would be in cutscenes, I supposed), so being a silent protagonist isn't really even pointful.
Hmm I guess it's nice they're adding new weapons as part of events. Now you're able to get the best SMG for free at the beginning of the game though. I guess it kinda highlights how flawed the weapon system is because 7,200$ is not a lot of money for the whitetail AK-M assault rifle which you can breeze through the game after unlocking. I have no idea who would ever buy silver bars with real money in FC5 when every prestige weapon is very easy to unlock with in game money. I miss the signature weapons from FC3/4 that had strong buffs like less recoil, more damage, otherwise incompatible attachments, explosive rounds etc. that required actual effort/time to unlock and became major factors of your arsenal. Like, the Buzzsaw from FC5 was brutally powerful.
I really want to be able to join random people for coop, I'm not a fan of just having it be friends only.
A Silent protagonist in a story in which you don't even really have control to be non lethal is dumb, especially when the antagonists start preaching to you about literally nothing and hypocrisy
This game is just a mess themeing wise and it spills into the gameplay itself through shoddy quests and lack of player choice.
I think the ultimate example is that at the beginning they basically tell you that you're going to be undercover and tell you to get rid of all of your deputy stuff. Then everyone recognizes you immediately. And there's also an entire police station of officers.
Yeah, changing out of your uniform doesn't work for one damn minute. They all know you instantly anyway. I thought the model for the uniform looked kind of nice, too. I was expecting some of the outfit options to at least be reskins of it, but nope. And I know for damn sure there are a lot of people who would've gotten a kick out of more directly playing the cop/having more law enforcement outfits and vehicles.
Overall i feel the gameplay side is great story/themes are messed up to heck anyone else agree?
im gonna slam my table until ubi fixes the live event reward and gives me my sweet baby vector
You being a cop is so underutilized that it bums me out. There isn't even a single cop themed customization item outside of a single skin for the default shotgun that is part of the base game. Or a cop based activity
I just want to kill Joseph. I wanna go full on wrath if they force it upon me. I was hoping for the showdown to be some kind of Mexican standoff in his church or something, seeing how he had a revolver on him everytime you saw him. Could've been pretty badass.
Changed my map a bit. It's now Bounty Hunt and shouldn't be as dark as before. Any suggestions? Far Cry Arcade on PS4, Xbox One, PC | Ubisoft
I'm currently building Dutch's bunker for Arcade, with the plan ofputting Joseph in with you for a final showdown. Not quite sure how to make it properly satisfying with the scant options available in arcade, but I'm going to see what I can do. There are already a few attempts of the same thing on the Arcade, but they're pretty shoddy at best, so I'm gonna take a crack.
Honestly, I just want a game like Far Cry 5 but with respawning outposts that are just fun to play in and have more enemies. I like the setting, I like the environment but because the AI just gives up after a certain point I can't even have car chases with them chasing me. Its annoying to be frank. If the game just gave in and peppered the map with a crap load of mini-arenas or side arena content that I could just blast Synthwave to while using a lever action I wouldn't even shit on the game that hard. But as it stands, outposts are easy to get through, they have zero longevity to them. Enemies don't persist for shit and my biggest dangers are myself basically gimping myself.
The game was way to easy even on hard. 100%d the entire thing in 20 hours no problem. I think it mostly stems from how simple the AI is. They never evolve like in MGS5 or AC.
I guess they took the lessons of Far Cry 2 to heart, the AI was absolutely relentless and never stopped pursuing the player. Although it got so obnoxious that players were rather annoyed by it.
So people who have messed with the Arcade map maker, have you tried making roads? Because they're ridiculously narrow compared to structure objects like the bridges, even with their scale turned all the way up and with a backing of asphalt ground textures. It's like they're half the size they're supposed to be.
Burning your uniform is just an excuse to let you customize your character, and I'm fine with that tbh.
I wish there were some trigger objects in the editor. Like buttons and shit to open doors or just areas you need to touch in order to spawn stuff. Would add a lot more possibilities
I STRONGLY AGREE
Yeah, yesterday, I was playing an "escape" level inspired by the Saw movies, and couldn't figure out what to do. It was highly rated though, so I guess some people figured it out. Would've benefited a lot from buttons and stuff.
I couldn't get out of the room behind the one-way mirror, that map was freaking confusing
Just finished the game and hot damm. I though the mass effect 3 endings were absolute shit but this takes the crown, I get that they wanted to add more depth to the characters and what not but it all feels so incredibly FORCED like they constantly throw shit at your face to get any sort of reaction out of the player and honestly i was just fucking bored halfway trough all of the speeches and kidnappings And ending the game with either you ( possibly ) killing your friends when you choose to go away if what i understand about the brain washing is right or going SEE I WAS TOTALLY RIGHT THE WORLD ENDED SUCKERS! just pissed me off, since they both completely go against the objective you had the whole game its like the writting is completely detached from the context and gameplay its presented on
I just finished the ending and actually liked it a lot? I'm assuming that just the group you escape with die, since Hurk went with the others, and he's clearly going to continue to be a long term reoccurring character. With that in mind, I presume we'll be playing as him in the next game, which will also presumably be a Fallout-esque game? Obviously it sucks to see all the characters you fought with die like that, but I can't think of any other game besides the intro to Fallout 4 that has you outrunning not just one, but multiple nuclear strikes as you watch everything die around you.
