Ah yeah, we see it. We just think it's dumb and unsatisfying. Though I do kind of like the idea of being The Man who Comes Around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9IfHDi-2EA
One thing that would have been a good way to give Joseph more credibility is if they gave you the choice to have a non-lethal route and allow you to arrest the Seeds instead of killing them and then for some reason arrest Joseph instead of just killing him like the rest. That way, Joseph can judge you for your actions because you as the player chose that course and deviated from your role as upholding the law to judge and executioner.
Well sorry to interrupt all this story discussion, but I only just picked up this game and holy shit is this a refined Far Cry experience. 3 and 4 were bargain bin pickups for me that I don't have too many fond memories over, other than how timesinky they were, but I'm having genuine fun with this one right out of the gate. It feels incredibly liberating to be able to tackle the story areas at your own discretion. I heard a lot of people talk about how this game would resemble GTA with it's new American setting, and while I don't think a GTA comparison is entirely accurate at this point, it does feel like it's morphed into it's own subgenre, like GTA has. I was kind of gobsmacked with the availability of air vehicles considering that Far Cry 4 only just got one single gyrocopter in. That all being said, I'm hearing everyone when they complain that the bars are filling up too fast. I keep accidentally stumbling into story progression points. I feel like I've only just started to dip my toes into this story and already Joseph has had more than one heart-to-heart with me. Does anyone have any advice in retrospect to pad out the length of the game? Any activities to avoid, missions to save? I'm already starting to notice that blowing up a lot of these red silos and freeing these hostages is just bringing my game to an end faster, so I'm kind of avoiding that for now.
Oh, uh, fun fact about story progression; it turns out the game will complete major "story mission" missions, from outposts to unique setpieces like the Revelator, without any warning if you get too much meter progress without doing them.
Also Arcade level is attached to your campaign save, so if you start a new game you will lose all your arcade level progress. So not only does the story progress too quickly, they also make it a huge loss of multiplayer progress when you want to start a new game.
i felt like the resistance bars filled up too fast a lot of the time.
That's annoying to say the least.
I said it earlier; One of my biggest issues that things happen because the writers felt the need to let them happen. I can guarantee you a lot of players saw through Jacob's conditioning almost instantly or on another go around. However how did he condition to player? He played a music box to them and now they have a trigger song? Rather than show us that the Rook got brain washed, we see that the Rook is just triggered by some musical notes w/o any real indication how it occurred. FUNNY ENOUGH one mission we're debrain washing a guy with fucking punk-rock. Some how for the Rook this did nothing. I shouldn't have to be forced to kill Eli when I knew what was happening. That right there LITERALLY show that thought the player is stupid. Then for Faith, I didn't mind it, but how or why was the Marshall given or got a gun? Literally everyone was suspicious of him having been in the Bliss, but he gets a gun some how? We know the player can be taken out of the Bliss, so how did NOBODY else at the Prison see the Rook looking funky? Why were Marshal and Virgil alone, of all people you'd expect Whitehorse or Tracey nearby, but nope him and Virgil are in a locked room out of the need of the writers needing to make conflict. John IMO is the best of the heralds because the only flaw to him is that bliss bullets stopping you. Here we have a sadistic man, who takes over Fall's End because he has the resources, armed trucks, planes and plenty of Cultists to get you. I'm not going to debate capture tactics but his entire final encounter is one the least violent or shows there was more thought put into it. He didn't randomly force you to kill some plot NPC or magically make the the Cult win in an area, aside from taking Fall's End over. Comparing the three Heralds, John is most probably and makes the most sense compared to Faith and Jacob, specifically Jacob.
Depends, how highly do you value a story in games? It's solid gameplay wise and runs great on PC but the story is a stinker and the roster of weapons is fucking pathetic.
Oh my god the deathmatch is such SHIT in this game.
I haven't really bothered with the deathmatch or team deathmatch so far. Singleplayer or coop maps are way too much fun. The only multiplayer round I've ever played was on some flat snow map with all spawns right next to each other and I got kicked out a minute into the game because of some PSN connection error. Speaking of maps - the map I showed you guys two days ago, Defend Your Home, almost made it to the first page of Top Rated by now! Didn't expect people to like it that much. I updated it a little (mostly visually by adding some stuff and fixing little errors) so give it another shot if you'd like!

Just made a pretty cool map idea, where you start in one bunker, before going up top to a outpost before going through another bunker. Far Cry Arcade on PS4, Xbox One, PC | Ubisoft It's pretty barebones and had to make lots of mountains to cover up the bunkers but it's a cool idea that I hope I can expand on more.
Odd question, but does anyone know if the guns have any "hidden" stats? Otherwise, is there no real reason between buying the different variants of the guns in the game and no reason to buy anything besides the MP5K in the SMG territory?
Some of these arcade maps are fuckin' better than real maps I've played in other games
no what made it worse was both times playing it with me and a friend, there was a dude happily whistling for some reason every time that scene played.
You know what else dampened that whole series of events? The fact that Faiths drugs are apparently fuckin magic. The moment the Marshal was being being mind controlled or some shit I was like "Oh come the fuck on. How is she doing this!?"
That is inexcusable on Ubisoft's part. What were they thinking? The game definitely needs some major campaign overhauls.
It doesn't really mention recoil at all. The lower fire rate of the MP40 makes it a little more controllable than the other sub guns.

looks better than some of the stuff i've seen on the arcade already, keep it up
I have a new found appreciation for arcade maps after trying to make a map for 1 minute.
how do I get the arcade to stop giving me ubisoft maps?
They changed the order with the latest update for some reason. If you use the filter, you can set it off of "Featured" maps, which is all the Ubi maps. I don't know if it picks them if you do Play another Map or if that changes it, however.
Reached the first place on Top Rated holy crap https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/109843/064775bf-30d7-4aa1-a662-a4a8aeab16a2/grafik.png It's looking good mate, keep going! What kind of map is it going to be? I'm guessing Assault?
Assault yes. The Earth sure is thirsty. Gave a try to level 2 : https://i.imgur.com/S7LgBUQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8tIt1xS.jpg
I think the time that would have gone in to a bigger weapon roster went into making wayyy more unique vehicles instead. Can't say I have a problem with it, I feel like 4 guns + melee weapons + 9 types of throwables is enough for me.
Just beat the game and am confused by some things Why didn't the National Guard ever come a' knockin? Where the nukes real or just a hallucination? Why did Joseph survive that car crash and overpower Dutch even though everyone else died and it was in the middle of a nuclear hellscape?
Joseph probably buckled up. He may be a lunatic but he's not completely crazy. As for the National Guard never showing up, the intro made it clear that the cult had greased enough palms over time to keep the government from sniffing around their holdings. Why they didn't roll in after the US Marshal never returned is beyond me. It might have made more sense if it was said that they had surrounded Hope County to keep the cult from getting out (a la the Waco Standoff) but I don't know.
Also, you can see that the cult blew most of the tunnels leading into and out of Hope County. Plus the rest of America seems to be pre-occupied by other shit. The apparent War that is happening in the background. As well as Willis Huntley of the CIA, retrieving the president's piss tape from the cult. Dutch was probably just overpowered by Joseph. The dude's pretty built, and Dutch is an old man. Now, the nukes being actually real is up in the air. It seems like the game takes place in September according to the calendars scattered around the map, or at least it takes place before September 22nd. I'm taking note of this because there are a few time-skips. When Dutch finds you after the car chase, and the week you spend in captivity before you eat the stuff that's in the bowl for Jacob. There are more but, I can't remember them off the top of my head. It takes anywhere from 5-30 days to deploy the National Guard, but judging by the fact that there isn't even any internet in Hope County leads me to believe that nobody except Nancy even knows about what's happening up there. Y'know what. I'm beginning to agree with most of you about the story being mishandled. That whiplash effect is hitting me hard right now, but I think that's just a side effect of how much freedom the game gives us, in comparison to the rest of the games. It just feels wrong to have it taken away so quickly, if they wove the capture sequences into proper missions it would have worked a little better.Ubisoft is experimenting with Far Cry and I appreciate it, it just didn't measure up this time.
