Fuck you too, game.
I had to switch to a male player character to get it to register. Some have said you can also accept it in the Ubisoft store somewhere too.
Played about an hour of the Vietnam dlc before work. The dragunov is good, the M16 is basically just a ACR reskin. Haven’t used the new m60 yet. Playing on survival mode and im enjoying the environments and characters.
I really like the vietnam DLC so far it's just disappointing to me that there's no machete.
I don't know why FC5's team has such a thing against bladed weapons.
Wish the DLC was standalone like BD.
I wish there was more of an incentive to get all the collectables in this new DLC. Overall I feel like this one was kind of shitty. They could've done so much more with a Vietnam setting, but no, they just have you run from one end of the map to the other, capturing outposts along the way that don't benefit you at all.
It's a shame that there won't be a full on Vietnam Farcry.
Loot commanders bodies to get additional intel
Yeah I would if they wouldnt despawn after looking the other direction for five seconds
Damn, this or just a another Blood Dragon like game would be fun as hell
hm, the vietnam weapons are not in the editor?
Was anything new added at all to the editor that wasn't added before the release? Like, more stuff for the DLC? Vietcong enemies and shit?
the only thing added are props.
I've seen it said that they'll be added in the next Title Update. I think they were going to release them yesterday but were trying to nail down something buggy? I don't know. They're not very transparent about this stuff.

So about the new truck in HoD. I get it, they only had time to model a single vehicle, which had to be used in both the Vietnam segment and the main game.
And the Dodge Power Wagon is a pretty decent choice for that: besides the popular civillian variant for Montana, it also had a US military version that some limited use in Vietnam, and it looks old-school enough that it could pass as some Soviet GAZ truck for the Vietnamese Army.
What irks me is that they couldnt even bother to make a separate US and Vietnamese paintjob, so instead we got US-style markings on the front and an NVA roundel on the side.
This is the epitome of laziness.
I went through the DLC, got all collectibles and saved two of three squad mates. I stealthed it and took it slow (despite the AI allies doing all they could to work against that).
In the end? Just over 2 hours of playtime, nothing to show for it beyond a fancy card at the end showing I got bonus objectives done. Maybe its just me but it genuinely feels like I paid for little more then a glorified and lengthened arcade map.
The new weapons 'look' neat but are so lazy. The new shotgun doesn't even have its own name/store panel despite clearly using a new model and being based on a different shotgun. (Looks like an ithaca to me)
The story may aswell not be there. Its little more then "Escape vietnam" You could have sent the deputy to Vietnam by time travel and little would change. What little dialogue the protag in this now has is okay I guess? It never felt good or like it added character it was just 'there'. I assume due to complaints about the mute protagonist.
The enemies are a downgrade and don't fight you using guerilla tactics at all, they just do the same 'rush the players position/take cover' thing that cultists often do.
So why a downgrade? Well heavy units make an appearance but now they lack any head protection whatsoever. One tap to the head and they drop.
The only neat idea I think this DLC brought was the way your stealth skills now work via killing enemies and keeping a low profile. It's got its issues but at least its something.
And again where the fuck is my knife, ubisoft? You had an excuse to give the protag one for once and you still didn't do it.
I want to know who the lady on the propaganda speakers was. Was she originally going to be the villain of this DLC, but they cut that part due to time constraints? Really makes you think.
She’s just a propaganda speaker, it happened IRKL, to try and demoralize the troops.
Hopefully the Mars DLC is more interesting. Aliens and laser weapons will hopefully give them less room to re-use animations and enemy behavior and hopefully add some fun technology like jump pads or something neat like that.
Vietnam took about 2 hours 45 min but probably 30 minutes of that was backtracking across the map to get collectibles. Still missed two lighters just because none of the intel showed where they were towards the end and I didn't want to scour the map. The on-rails segment at the end was shit-tier and totally unnecessary.
Hanoi Hannah
well shit, you learn something new every day.
I did find it neat that once you got out into the open area you start seeing less Vietcong and more NVA.
Is it just me or the helicopter with Vietnamese paintjob (spawnable in the main game) lacks sounds?
I think the SVD when silenced is also silent, by which I mean there is literally no sound when you fire. I know that's supposed to be a good thing, but enemies still react like there is a sound at certain ranges, so it doesn't exactly help me as a player judge what's going on.
The helicopter with the Vietnam Paint scheme is also named wrong.
I wonder if I'll finish the Vietname DLC. I think I've done one of everything: found one lighter, took out one AA gun, freed one camp, rescued one of my friends, taken out one NVA commander... and then I decided to stop and go do something else. I was enjoying myself well enough, I think, stalking through the jungle doing stuff, but I guess I just decided I was satisfied for the time being doing that, and haven't really had an urge to go back. We'll see, I guess.
Yeah, I didn't know what to expect. But as mentioned above, it really felt like an extended arcade map. I know it's a ton of work, but it would've been nice if the NVA heavies didn't use m60's, the emplacements weren't m60's, the only sidearm was the 1911, you actually flew a huey, there were at least one appropriate land vehicle and the m16 actually wasn't a reskinned acr (using modern high cap magazines with the loop and everything. Also, being full auto). I never even used the artillery as no situation really called for it
It's glitched, if you pick it up in the DLC it has a suppressed sound. I tried using it in Montana and it literally has no sound when you shoot, same as you.
It's weird because it does actually have a firing sound, if you manage to find the suppressed version in the DLC. Dunno why it lacks the firing sound in the base game.
Nothing in the DLC feels like anything other than user made maps
Honestly, I liked the 'nam DLC. I dug the "Behind Enemy Lines meets First Blood" kinda vibe it had. I completed it 100% after about 6 1/2 hours and I had a lot of fun with it from beginning to end.
