...I got to the end and when going into a mortar it teleported me 2KM away
I mean if you enjoyed yourself, thats good. Experiences will vary from person to person but I'll be honest. The more I think about it, the more I think this is not a 11.99 DLC. This is 4.99 at best. It has no lasting content or quality much of it is currently locked to single player or multiplayer (if you fancy the bad looking cosmetic outfits the dlc adds and the map assets only). I mean I could be wrong, anyone here done a playthrough of the DLC and feel like giving it another go? I did a 2 hour stealth run, got 100% in one sitting and I don't feel like going back. It was like a demo for a larger project except this is it and you paid for it. Seriously where was the story or world for that matter? You see one Vietnamese civilian at most and they die real quick in the intro. They even bothered to give her dialogue only for her to die quickly after. Its like they planned to go somewhere with it but just said 'lol nope' at the last minute and rushed what they had done out the door. How about your squadmates? You learn minor things about them but never really get a chance to bond as a team. Instead they just scream repeated one liners and quickly remind you they're little more then npc's following you from point a to point b. Here's another question I thought of, why are you even there? You go through Vietnam with just about no american forces in sight save for you, your team and the POW's (who when I freed spoke like.. Vietnamese citizens? Despite clearly being american.) Even the firebase you're supposed to retreat to is abandoned by the time you get to it. Yeah this DLC might have me more livid then I should be but this is really pathetic even for ubisoft, in my opinion
I'd say that overall Hour of Darkness was pretty underwhelming. A Far Cry set in the Vietnam War is cool, but they did little to realize any potential. It could have done with an actual plot and characters rather than just a quick set of missions that I was able to get 99% in just two hours of gameplay and with little replay value. It also kind of bugs me when games do "motion comics" in place of an actual cutscene. Hopefully the Mars DLC will have more to offer because this was pretty disappointing. I will say that having your companions permanently die is a nice touch that I wish they had in the base game given that the companions are a dime a dozen.
Two of my companions died instantly because we got out of a truck while it was on an incline and them hopping out simultaneously got them run over somehow.
Honestly nevermind I'm really not a fan of the 'nam DLC now that I had time to think about it. I realized it adds way less to the game, has less features and is slightly more expensive than the Yeti DLC was for FC4 which I felt was a damn good DLC.
Yeah it really feels like a glorified arcade map. It could have had an awesome story, awesome characters with neat character development. Also I expected it to be more thick, lush jungle than what we got. Also no knife/machete so 0/10. But honestly like a 6.5/10 it was fun to play through once.
Also anyone got a suggestion for the weekly challenge? I'm having some trouble even finding a place where both cultists and a non direct explosive spawn
Tbh I did that simply at Josephs compund, sneaked to the white pickup truck, lured a few cultists threre, then sabotaged the truck (if you die close to there, you'll respawn literally next to the truck, so you'll get the challenge in no time).
Really? Thats odd I was doing just that and made no progress whatsoever
Did you even put the Handbrake on?
Try the outpost southeast of the prison in Faith's area, 2 cultists always spawn near an explosive barrel at the shed in the backyard.
That's exactly what I did too, though it took an infuriatingly long time. It was hard to get the NPCs to stand next to the truck in large enough numbers close enough to die when it explodes. Helps hiding out by the front corner while they close in on your, and then hitting sabotage and retreating down the small fenced in corridor to draw them in closer. Another tactic I've heard is to reset the outposts and then go snipe explosive barrels and fuel pumps at the Druman Boathouse. Plus you can die before you retake it and everything respawns.
The AI in this game is horrendous.
I got it in the Vietnam DLC. There is a lot of camps with red barrels just waiting for vietcong.
I will say one thing about the Vietnam DLC. That sequence at the end might be one of the most boring on rails sequences I've ever seen. You're barely moving, using a gun that can't hit shit, and are in no danger what so ever. It's really, really bad.
Well, six and a half hours on my first Hours of Darkness play through. I take it that’s not typical. Still, like an hour was trying to go back for the last collectible before it ended it and dying a bunch of times because I was trying to be fast and getting loaded back at the beginning of my journey 2k away.
The deagle is back, baby. This weeks event reward
Now, are its stats a copy and paste?
Actually not! It’s madly op. Dmg is 9 like the 50 cal rifles
The trade off for the damage, is slightly less range and handling compared to the other magnums.
Bring back the USAS-12 from Far Cry 2.
It is a bit of a cannon. I'll be more happy next week when the generic version hits the stores. Though the next patch is hitting Thursday. Maybe they'll add it to the Arcade creator.
A live event that has a nice reward and easy to do? I'll be damned.
Small patch was released, so far the changes I've noticed is the MP34 now has paint options, Citra and Vas outfits were added (yet seem to be locked, despite owning far cry 3) and they added some free to use assassins creed outfits for both genders.

I figure I'm probably pretty late on this take but, holy shit the main games ending is bad. Which is a shame I really enjoyed the story up to it but then jesus

Take that, already existing Egyptian pyramid maps!
Question, can you slide down it?
Sort of? you sort of just slowly fall down the side.
