i wanted to unlock the game early via VPN but i cant even connect to steam to unlock it with VPN going
i don't think the steam unlock is different for any region. it unlocks for everybody in about 11 hours
aussies already are able to play it
only via uplay
Yeah Uplay is midnight for all timezones, while Steam is a set time.
I managed to unlock it with a VPN using a South Korean server. So far, performance is very good. Lots of options.
One different thing for this game can customize your character a bit. Gender, face, and outfit. I'm guessing that will matter most in co-op.
I'm debating on getting the game, but more so because of the humorous DLC add ons as well as the map editor. I've previously played Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and I'm looking to see if Far Cry 5 (and it's DLC/map editor) would scratch a similar itch in terms of not only gameplay but tone.
I did the in game benchmark test, these are the preset settings, I didn't touch anything

I'm impressed on how optimized it seems so far, I remember Far Cry 4 being a bit more demanding even.
Fc4 was extremely optimized for the longest time though.
It was easy to run for the most part, but was hard to get a fully stable framerate on it especially in some select areas in the game, particularly with FC4's slightly broken God Rays and Ambient Occlusion giving inconsistent visuals and performance.
Eh i got 60fps stable throughout my time with 4 by turning off Fog, that was about it
"If your politics lean right and you want a game that will definitely not offend you, Far Cry 5 is the perfect safe space."
ah, kotaku.
I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. If you're on the opposite side wouldn't you find it fun to kill them?
Polygon actually

jesus christ, can't people just have fun with games?
Everything's gotta be a political statement now days, I guess.
Politics should be lightyears away from video games.
"It’s a timely story that could at least try to address the polarized nature of current American politics, or talk about the issues inherent in a country that seems to worship firearms. But I never saw anything that hinted at how these cultists were radicalized. "
What, they literally tell how they did it -ingame, also why does it need to address politics?
(talking bout the Bliss infected people)
" the game totally fails to recognize the horror of shooting American drug addicts while the nation deals with a very real ongoing opioid crisis."
The fuck has this got to do with the opiod crisis?
God Polygon is a load of crap
I was into the gameplay of Far Cry 2, 3, and 4, but only ever finished 4 because the other narratives didn't grab me so much. I'm considering picking this one up pretty soon, full price, just because of the co-op mode. How good is it?
Ben Kuchera is such a wet blanket, I really don't understand why they're even reviewing video games, when every time they do a review, they treat them less as games and more of a soapbox of whether it agrees to their worldview or not
So when did this game start development? For a AAA game I'd figure maybe two or three years ago. Did they have the time to rework the entire script to reference Trump or the school shootings or anything for references to events that happened only weeks or months ago for a game filled with references that would be dated within the decade?
To be fair these are the same damn subguns they've used in Far Cry 3 and 4.
Come on, give us an UZI, a MAC-10, a Spectre, a Scorpion EVO, a P90, anything besides three variants of the same gun, a Vector and an MP-40 for some reason.
Though I can't really bitch about them adding an MP-40. I have no idea why it's there but I won't bitch unless it's a terrible model.
I'm upset they even kind of removed the SMGs the previous game had like the Agram 2000, Bizon and MP34
Yeah those were interesting. Not many games have those guns and I liked using them mostly for that reason.
Every game and their mother has MP5's, Vectors and MP-40's.
vectors is because the licensing is so fucking cheap.
bruh
Macs been confirmed for ages
but yeah i agree, i really wish the Uzi would make a return.
We need new shotguns as well

i put unoptimized by my phone corrected it, it ran like horseshit to me most of the time. I had constant hickups with pop in and dropped frames.
A Sterling would be awesome. They're sexy as hell and I honestly can't remember a game that's had one since No One Lives Forever 2, though I'm sure one exists. Also since they're a cult, it'd make sense if they had some homemade firearms, so something like a ghetto Sten would be the shit.
I totally forgot about that image, though. I wonder why it's not on the list. It must be incomplete.
Yeah the list is sadly small. The only other games I know other than NOLF that has it are Vietcong, Insurgency and Rainbow Six: Siege. Payday 2 has a slightly fictionalized Frankenstein version of it.
