The Elder Scrolls Megathread XX: Might as well be XXX

Oddly enough, I find them to be too pretty for the character I have in mind.
Skyrim is a filthy medieval fantasy setting, not a pretty babes parade
I google it and granted, I'm very, VERY understanding when it comes to other players' taste in mods, but ... just why?
I mean, the game's setting, Skyrim, is a straight medieval fantasy world taking place in a Northern European setting, including the fitting landscapes, environments, culture, flora and fauna.
Why one would go out of his/her way to change all of that so drastically into something else entirely (some kind of jungle at worst or more temperate region at best)? At that point why not picking up a different game with the desidered setting entirely?
I don't want to sound overcritical, I just can't figure out the purpose of such a mod, and it may as well be my limit and my limit alone
As a counterpoint to this, I don't think Skyrim should really be a downright filthy place filled with dirt-covered villagers with greasy unkempt hair.
It's a harsh place to live in for sure so I would expect people to have fairly bad skin to an extent at least in the less rich parts of the province, but almost every single region has access to clean water in enough quantity to justify a daily bath. Furthermore, the larger cities like Solitude should definitely have high enough a standard of living for people to take good care of themselves.
There's a reason mods like Perseids Inns add bathtubs to most rooms you can rent.
Well... If we want to go full down, dirty and medieval
Then I know a few mods...
That's simply preposterous.
It's a well known fact that only men, women and children of Imperial origins bathe regularly
Romans were cleaner than medieval people tho. A civilization crumbling tends to make things go backwards.
I can't really understand the porcelain doll-esque mods, where suddenly females have perfectly smooth skin and silky hair. I mean, what the hell is going on through the modder's head.
Just like having everything in Riverwood-Whiterun. There are more places, you know. Any city in the game is a mere loading screen away from the Whiterun stables. But hell, the housing paid mod is a goddamn house for everything next door to the Battle-Born farm, because it makes so much sense.
...
Oh well, do you happen to know which version of Vampiric Drain is added to NPCs upon turning them into vampires? (with the Unofficial Dawnguard patch; vanilla way of turning people) Because I'm getting irritated of seeing a sword and shield orc disregard the shield and use a piss-poor spell because of reasons.
Yeah, the everyone is full of dirt doesn't really track:
Vikings bathed
Most citizens of tamriel bathe
the cleaning stuff everywhere and idle cleaning animations
so sure Skyrim is rustic as fuck but it isn't detroit.
Is there a way to stop skyrimjob to dump the save files in c:? It annoys me.
See, this guy gets it.
Also, I can only assume that Khajiit takes baths by licking up themselves in public or something, being cats and all.
... Actually, forget I've ever said anything on this matter

Now after replaying morrowind again I must say, I don't think Oblivion is worse, at all. Both of them have their flaws and strengths, but Morrowind certainly isn't the perfect RPG many people make it out to be. I'd honestly set them on the same pedestal.
After replaying Morrowind, I found that complaint about there being so little to do before you get to higher levels to be somewhat unfounded. It was mostly the lack of non-factional early game
quests and a hesitation to explore (slow speed meaning that fruitless searches costed more time, and not wanting to break quests by going somewhere early) that lead to early game hell.
Oblivion is much easier on my eyes outside of the Imperial City, and looks gorgeous. But also facing early game hell with my less-than-stellar class and unadvertantly tough selection of mods.
Morrowind is one of my all time favorite RPGs, but anyone that says it's not incredibly flawed is talking out of their ass.
It's part of why I had a personal hate-on for Morrowind for years, the obnoxious gate-keeping holier-than-thou "hardcore" fandom. Of course they're a minority, but before I could actually enjoy
the game myself they all sounded the same to me..
The urge to play Morrowind is coming back but I wanna be a purist and not download any mods but I end up getting bored of the early game combat and I never wanna sit down and actually pay attention to the quest log
Make a race/class combo with 50 in your combat skill from level 1.

Round 3! this time brought you by valve time.
Look like the Mayor?Town boi? Jarl wasn't sitting on his chair this time so hey don't mind if I do, I find it funny that you do the same pose as him. You shall do my bidding now peasant.
Oh man looks like this time I get sent to jail without being able to pay for a "get out jail free card"? Rude. 3 minutes later I get my everything back and these forksword guys just want a war? Well it does look nice in 3D and I get to pilfer several bodies for free so its alright.
I know this is a bit late, but that USLEEP Unpatch is just a contentious as the changes that are supposedly fanciful.
Unfixing the Dawnbreaker Dupe is just, like, why? A bug is a bug I don't want someone NOT fixing them just because it's a bit tricky to trigger. Same with the merchant's chests being moved to being inaccessible. "Why bother?" Because it's a patch. Don't be so obnoxious about it, MadMansGuns
The Jaree-Ra and Deeja thing is also debateable consideringthey betrayed you first.
The Mjoll weapon-skill discrepancy might have been an oversight when assigning her class. Eitherway, she's more effective with the USLEEP than without and makes the quest to get
Grimsever a bit more rewarding.
The reverting of Lynly's hair colour is also a controversial change considering chemical bleach hasn't been been mentioned in TES universe. Calling Arthmoor a dumbass for that is just double dumbass on MadMansGuns. Why be such a cunt about it?
It's not as necessary for magic since your starting spells will usually have 100% cast chance at high fatigue, but it is a good idea if you want to play a fighter.
what
true
core functionality is greatly improved though.
also for graphics goodies check out Advanced Settings
id recommend enabling distant terrain and per pixel lighting
can also use reshade to squeeze extra graphics out if yoy really need to.
Unless there's any sex mods that OpenMW can run that regular Morrowind can't there's no point in using OpenMW.
vanilla cant even jump right no matter how many code patches you apply
its simply a technically inferior base
Did they fix the player getting stuck on every odd polygon in OpenMW yet?
Did the fix NPCs killing themselves in OpenMW, that was my only bugbear with it.
if you mean the drowning thing then yes if you mean rare pathing issues then no, thatll be next update.
Because Arthmoor is a cunt, and anybody that's had to interact with him to get something done will attest to that.
In either case, the patch changes things completely outside the scope of bugfixes, which where the contention comes from. He had a point of making "story" based mod Cutting Room Floor, and half of the USLEEP stuff should have gone into that, as that's the entire point of that mod.
wasn't arthmoor the one with a fire atronach fetish?
Yep.
That's no excuse for being a cunt yourself. I disagree that they're entirely outside the scope of a patch given the rationale Arthmoor gives for the changes, and MadMansGuns give especially
shakey justifications for unfixing exploits and Lynly's hair changing.
