racial bonus's are overrated Playing Fashion Scrolls is the only true way to play [editline]24th January 2018[/editline] Being stylish is more useful than stacking numbers

May the swag guide us
[t]https://i.imgur.com/tJ5FroY.jpg[/t] Fashion lord spotted
reminds me of wearing those ridiculous "exquisite" clothes in morrowind for the affinity bonus
at what point did bethesda need to relay this information
If you think that's strange there's the one book in daggerfall (which is censored in the rest of the games) that says how khajiit [sp]have barbed dicks.[/sp] Then there's all the sermons of Vivec which is just a whole bunch of :what:. The Elder Scrolls' lore is weird but I like it for being there behind the scenes where not too many people know about it.
Cats have barbed dicks in real life and Vivec's writings were literally drug fueled from what I've heard
Cats have barbed dicks in real life and Vivec's writings were literally drug fueled from what I've heard
Kirkbride has said that he hasn’t done drugs since college iirc he did lock himself in a room to write the sermons tho
Kirkbride has said that he hasn’t done drugs since college iirc he did lock himself in a room to write the sermons tho
requesting that meme image of Todd finding Kirkbride after writing the sermons [sp]Please, I tried finding it a while ago and couldn't[/sp]
Yeah I was trying to find it to fact check it but I can't even find the picture either
nice fursona
I plan on making a scotsman orc warden tank after if I feel like it
The 36 lessons are heavily influenced by Vedic mythology and Hinduism IIRC Muatra is pretty much Shiva's Lingam

Is that S'teve Rhojjurs, Captain Skyrim?
Oh my god lol natures grasp without even morphing it is insanely OP as fuck and then you look at the other abilities warden has, its just solid [editline]27th January 2018[/editline] Honestly warden just has so many more options than pre-nerf templar if you ignore restoration staff. Having defensive options that help teammates is a pretty huge deal. and even with rest staff it's templars skill line + rest staff VS using like 2 rest staff abilities and still filling both bars up everything I like about both, ignoring restoration staff, and too lazy to name the variants I don't use
Remembrance: An indiscriminate 'fuck you' to everyone you are fighting that will insta-heal a room full of people Breath of Life: A reactive heal that will be better than all other heals in the templars arsenal. It's basically an instant 360 no-scope heal (I think they nerfed that, fuck you Zenicunts) Ritual of Rebirth: A AoE version of BoL, its more for large groups I guess Radiant Aura: Honestly enchanted growth makes this look worthless. You use it on bodies while EG won't be mag or stam exclusive. Cleansing Ritual: If you don't use this you are worthless as a healer, removing debuffs is the biggest reason templar is great Channeled focus: Honestly I don't see the point. It doesn't protect other teammates.
So you have 3 solid things out of templar but its a really good reactive healer. However t doesn't have many abilities that make for defending yourself or your allies, its not preventative at all, its purely reactive. You do have one of the most solid passives that makes the warden weep, which is a bonus to reviving teammates. I'm pretty sure I forgot something though since I've not played it in a while. Templar is objectively better at being easier to play. You basically can't fuck it up. Now you have Warden which has a much more broad list of stuff a healer could use
Blue Betty: Only thing I like is removing debuffs. But 3555 over 22 seconds sounds basically worthless Enchanted Forest: A spammable ult ability that's just as good but not as indiscriminate as remembrance. It's good, but only if your team is close together. Enhanced growth: A solid frontal heal that increases stam and magic recovery a decent bit. Better than the rest staff version Budding seeds: A wicked strong AoE that you pretty much need Leeching Vines: Heals and protects at the same time. it doesn't seem that powerful though. Lotus Blossum: Turns your heavy attacks which you're going to be using constantly into a healing ability, this is insanely helpful Natures embrace: A stupidly OP insta-heal that can allow you to basically teleport to any teammate, making other abilities range less of an issue Ice Fortress: A shield that can protect allies as well as you, good for assisting tank Shimmering Shield: A personal shield that is a gateway to spamming your ult Polar Wind: It's a heal over time version of breath of life but doesn't heal as many people Frozen device: Can reduce damage a boss is dealing, making it pretty effective at assisting your tank, alternative morph brings people to you
I'm playing through Morrowind and I swear outside of Seyda Neen I know literally nothing about this game, and somehow within the first couple hours I've stumbled on to multiple extremely expensive artifacts. I literally just waltzed in to a random tomb, pick a lock, turn a corner, see THIS FUCKING CRYPTID SHIT [t]https://i.imgur.com/UfdOF7Z.png[/t] Cue Gunny reaction, but the thing doesn't even attack me, it just sits there staring. I even looted the area around it. But I decide I'm not about to be stalked and see this fucking thing staring at me from the woods every night, so I attack it, it goes down actually relatively easily, and what does it have? A fucking EBONY HELMET. Worth 15,000 gold. On this random cryptid fucker. I have played this game maybe 3 hours. This is not counting the 8000 gold valued ring I found in another tomb. I've heard Morrowind has a strange approach to difficulty, but, what the fuck
Im thinking of playing through morrowind the first time. Is there anything I should keep in mind in order not to have a terrible experience? What is a decently easy class to try for my first run? Also, any general tips to deal with the old gameplay style?

Since it's your first time, I don't recommend any magic skills because you can just buy/steal/find scrolls and potions, or enchant items to cast whatever you want. Read everything and keep stamina high(highly recommend you walk most of the time when in dungeons). Most important, patience. Beginning is veeeeeery slow but after you reach level 20 or higher. You'll start to become godlike and soon be flying and teleporting all over Vvardenfell.
It sounds like there's a whole crafting system I'm going to have to wrap my head around.
Magic items are a lot more common and have a lot more varied uses than in other games. Expect you carry around extra enchanted armor and weapons that are pretty situational in their use. Another cool thing is that enchanted items recharge over time but it's still handy to keep soul gems. Enchanting items yourself is more accessible than Oblivion but less than Skyrim. Alchemy is cool too and can get dumb overpowered but poisons aren't a thing, avoid negative effects at all costs.
...avoid negative effects at all costs.
Oh, always carry one of those [del]cleansing[/del] restore strength potions. I remember my first and only try to play Morrowind and I ended up with no carry weight after being attacked by something. Couldn't move even if I dropped everything.

Though honestly it occurs so frequently that you might want to look into getting a spell that you can use whenever instead of carrying a limited supply of potions.
Im thinking of playing through morrowind the first time. Is there anything I should keep in mind in order not to have a terrible experience? What is a decently easy class to try for my first run? Also, any general tips to deal with the old gameplay style?
In my (early) game experience, try to make at least one weapon attribute 40 to start, so keep at least one as a major skill. This will mean you actually hit things fairly often. Exploration is half the fun so far. You should give most tombs and such at least a peek as they tend to have valuables. Get an enchanted or silver weapon ASAP. It may not have the best stats but they can hurt ghosts and shit which is SUPER important for early game exploration. Fatigue affects a LOT. Your chance to hit is influenced by your fatigue but plenty of other things, like your ability to successfully brew potions, are as well, I believe. The game only autosaves when sleeping so be sure to save FREQUENTLY. Especially before entering a dungeon. Speaking of sleeping, with DLC enabled you will be attacked in your sleep by Dark Brotherhood assassins. They're very dangerous but provide very powerful and valuable armor for early game. This is a bit of a designer error as this was probably designed for more powerful PCs so it's up to you whether you 'exploit' this and become powerful early on. Robes can be worn over armor. Lastly, pay attention. The fun of Morrowind partially comes from Michael Kirkbride's insanely good writing. And a good portion of the writing is reflected in the world design. Even the shape of a doorknob can have meaning in Morrowind. Ask yourself why something is and you'll usually come to a rewarding answer. Don't just see a darkened landscape with blackened ground, no vegetation, dead trees, and wide pathways, and assume that's 'just how Morrowind is'. Stop, think, and ask yourself why the landscape is this way and if the realization clicks you'll appreciate it all the more. Or why some towns have more normal names like Pelagiad and Caldera, and others are named shit like Hla Oad, why that would be, and what that can tell you before you even get there. Or whether the various ancestral tombs are really meaningless dungeons, or if they have a real connection with the rest of the world and culture. As much as people hype getting godlike and what a sandbox morrowind is, and it is well worthy of that praise, it's the writing that gets me the most excited. A lot of games (even in this series) make you turn your brain off, never think about why things are, and just take them for granted. Morrowind is a constant series of rewards for keeping your brain turned on and paying attention.
So far so good, except I cannot for the life of me figure out how Im expected to keep my health up. I have no healing spells and seemingly all I can find in the starter town is some random alchemy ingredients that grant health. I already used my Mara gift.

It's kind of a holdover from Arena and Daggerfall where you rested like every 5 seconds to restore health, as opposed to the later games where it's mostly used to pass time. You can even rest in dungeons as long as there's no enemies in a certain distance. Enemies don't follow through doors so don't be afraid to high tail it in the middle of a fight you can't win. I can probably count the number of health potions I've actually used on one hand (though granted I have healing magic) [editline]e[/editline] Bonus tip: get some fancy clothes when you can. Wearing a fancy outfit will improve NPC's disposition towards you.
If you have the expansions enabled expect to get [del]free money from[/del] harassed by assassins when resting though.
yeah while I usually say "don't get mods" for a first time playthrough, except for fixes and unofficial patches of course. That's a mod you'll want, because it's practically a fix, the one that disables the Brotherhood assassins from popping up until a certain level I believe.
