Wes Johnson and the others give the game a wacky sort of charm that is kinda nostalgic
I recently started Oblivion back up as well :v:
My only real required mod is Franscesco's Leveled Item and Creatures mod. The amount of well-done content it adds is always a requirement for me. As well, the Bane's Guilds United mod is pretty good because it gives every guild a proper uniform, and of course an alternate start mod. Other than those It's pretty much your standard graphical mods.
I just use oscuro's oblivion overhaul if I want a nice amount of new content, though obviously Francesco's leveled items and creatures mod can be used in conjunction with OOO.
It's just a bit of a pain in the ass to get either to work.
I always use Oscuro and Qarts Texture pack.
Although, I don't think I've touched Oblivion in about 5 or 6 years now. So I hope there is some better texture packs out there.

Ah that is true. Still one of my favorite moments in a game ever is walking out of the sewer for the first time and hearing that peace of akatosh song. So fucking good. Ah shit I'm reinstalling too
I love my dagger stabby cat thief, it totally changes the entire game for me
but holy fuck the guards in this game are an absolute pisstake
1. Make guards not immortal, make the bounty penalty for killing guards high
2. Make them less retarded. The moment you're out of sight for like 1 second they forget.
3. When you get caught in a home the owner should run away and a guard should come in after a reasonable enough amount of time to escape
4. Fuck off with the 20 different auto-grapple abilities that you can't dodge
[editline]30th January 2018[/editline]
I kind of wish there were players that could hunt you down if your bounty was high enough too :v:
Sadly the devs aren't nearly that creative

They were going to do that but shockingly decided it was stupid to mix pve with pvp (even though they shat out IC shortly afterwards and all of the worthwhile pve achievements force you to enter pvp).

There's a skill in the Alliance War skill tree that makes you immune to those grapple/lock-down effects for 20 seconds and removes any that are already applied, all while giving a speed boost.
The what skill tree?

Looks like PvP exclusive crap

I always use Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, Oblivion Character Overhaul, Supreme Magicka, Unique Landscapes, and Better Cities
it's 'minimal' compared to some set ups but it's all I need to have a good time
Who needs Skyrim for Switch when the greatest Elder Scrolls game is already portable?

Blazing 9FPS gameplay and a brand new non-original soundtrack taken from Morrowind, remastered in lower quality. Perfection.
It has co-op dont forget that
why are people making openmw and daggerfall unity when what we really need is a shadowkey remake
I'd certainly give it a go with a friend if I could play it comfortably on my PC at 60fps with mouselook and widescreen.

Why was the thieves guild / brotherhood even added as DLC without fixing this shit.
cast that one invisible ability when you're running, you lose them faster that way
cast that one invisible ability when you're running, you lose them faster that way
but that's the one time I didn't have it
when I use that they're basically amnesiac and you lose them like nothing
The guard are designed in the most erratic and frustrating way
That and that autokill hit was such bullshit
I've never even seen that one hit ko. Maybe it only happens if they catch up to you while you're caught in that trap?
[editline]1st February 2018[/editline]
use roll dodging to escape it

I gave up at that point because the guards are just too frustrating. As a note too, they do have an anti-invis spell but its short.
The way they're set up makes it feel like Zenimax doesn't want you to collect any bounty or make cities a fun stealth area
I like the ideas they have, but its so unbelievably easy to avoid guards without even leveling anything, at least with the cloak ability, they're practically not even there. You can just walk into any building steal as much as you want, NPC's just stand, no one comes, and that's without stealth.
but on the other hand the guards are so OP that it doesn't feel like you're being caught, it feels like you're being punished. Running away is usually easy until you find that one lucky guard. Getting cornered is literally death.
it basically means that there is zero risk or reward. You can run around, pick pocketing people and then killing them for additional loot, loot a home, take it to a fence, and then swap characters so that you don't really have to worry about the bounty. You can stay on that bounty'd up character, but now you'll just have to sneak around guards.
I've been 1HKO'ed by a guard's crossbow, but my character is made of glass. Granted, the attack still did ~20k damage. Also, I've figured out that they don't chase you as far if they take damage, so I either try to lead them into an aoe-over-duration attack or hit them with a damage-over-time ability before running, so that they break off sooner.
Arrows are pretty wild in this game as well
I know its an MMO but archers have this ability to shoot you through spacetime itself
[editline]1st February 2018[/editline]
its a bit uhhh, wow
So you can't manually order your mod plugins anymore with the new Nexus Vortex mod manager.
And of course the owner of nexus and Tannin is like "don't knock it till ya's able to try it :)" and I feel that's kind of completely antithetical to modding.
Modding offers almost complete control to the individual user to customize their experience the way they want to. So removing any sort of control that was previously in the modding utility, no matter how trivial, feels like the person making the utility doesn't understand what modding is about, or seems to have lost the definition during the process.
If they feel their new rule system makes it easier, then I trust them that it does. After all I think that is sounds great, and will make it easier for casual mod users to sort their stuff to have less conflicts.
However, not providing controls that were provided by the previous mod managers is a shitty thing to do to power users, seeings how all support for NMM is going to go down the tube and I don't know if Mod Organizer 2 will have consistent support. I hope they change their minds.
Especially with the way bethesda games work, edge cases where manual load order sorting is essential, will not be possible with the current Vortex scope that they have.
At the moment, my expectations now stand at a resounding meh, happy that there's going to be a mod managing system similar to Mod Organizer that will be supported in the future, but sad that features from previous managers may be neglected.
So I think that Tannin and Dark0ne's statements do have one small nugget of truth: We won't be able to know how good, or bad, Vortex will be until full alpha release.
[editline]1st February 2018[/editline]
Redacted last part because I did some more reading on it, and saw that Dark0ne said it was Tannin's idea. Weird idea, that.
The best part of this is the admission that Dark0ne doesn't even play Skyrim and this pretty much has no idea what he's talking about or why he's being pelted with concerns and complaints, and the fact that the "rule" system doesn't even have operants for keywords or definitions yet, making dependency mods completely unusable until such time as a ruleset for those specific mods is incorporated, IF it is incorporated.
Guards OHK after getting enough hits on you so tanks don't afk in the city with like 3 on them. The best way to escape em is to not sprint and save your stam for rolling out of the roots.
But otherwise yeah they're annoying as hell, I don't even bother trying to pickpocket anymore.

Wouldn't the culprit be Tannin, the lead programmer of Vortex? After all, he's the one who came up with the idea to use the rule system.
