immersive armours is beyond terrible.
I'm trying to figure out how to script a mod for Oblivion and I have no idea how to achieve something or even if it's possible so I'm wondering if anyone knows how to do something like this:
I want a mod where items receive permanent debuffs based on how much damage they have taken over time so you can't just keep repairing the same weapon over and over until it's back to 100%.
So say you've just found a dwarven short sword and it does 10 base damage and it's health is 100%. After using it for a bit the health is at 75% and damage is at 7.5, so you repair it back to 100% and 10 damage. This happens a few times after holding onto the sword for a couple of levels, but when you go to repair the item back to 100% health you find that it still only does 8 damage. Turns out temporary repairs doesn't fix long time wear and tear and it's time for a replacement.
I feel like it'll add a little more value to things like trading and crafting (via mods) as in the vanilla game, once you get an high level item you have very little reason to ever buy/pick up/make a new one.

Is there a good alternative equal in terms of scope? Armour compilations that I've seen seem to be barely distinguishable variants on thick-ass shirts.

I haven't seen anything that amounts to the scope and ease of use of Immersive Armours and honestly I don't think there ever will be something that goes as far as that mod did, which is why I use it, if I had an alternative I'd switch, but it just adds so much.

That's what I was afraid of.
Bought Oblivion and Morrowind during the Steam Summer Sale.
I've played Oblivion before back on the PC long ago, but have never played Morrowind.
So are there any reccomended mods that I should use (Other than essential mods such as bug fixing mods), or should I play it vanilla the first time through.

I recommend getting OpenMW. It's not a mod exactly, it's a ground-up recreation to make Morrowind's engine smoother and more modern. The project's not finished but the whole game is playable and in a better state than the normal Morrowind client. Not all mods work in OpenMW but I would otherwise recommend just playing vanilla anyway. I don't think you need to bother with any bug fixing mods playing with OpenMW either, but I'm not sure about that.

Wish I could give a bad reading and late combination rating.
I said there are armors in the mod (which hoth gives credit for so finding the individual mod or model won't be hard) that can fit the criteria that he is looking for so he can add them. Everyone is aware of the issues surrounding immersive armors dude.

Brigandage?

That's what I was thinking of about the thick shirts. I honestly don't like the armours in this mod. They seem thrown together for the sake of being thrown together. Like wearing all your tops at once.
Does anybody know of an armor like this for skyrim that isnt the knights of the nine mods
[t]http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/yy327/Adamant19/25332-3-1245730475.jpg[/t]
Or even a helmet mod thats similar
If you want something somewhat similar but a lot more fantasy themed there's Gifts of Akatosh, which was one of the paid mods during that old fiasco, but it became freely available afterward.

If you want some good ol' fashioned medieval goodness though, you can always go full deus vult.
Otherwise, grab literally any mod that makes use of Witcher 2 or 3 models and mix/match them with the aforementioned mods. A lot of medieval-themed armor sets on the nexus are actually from the same few games (the witcher and medieval warfare, basically).

I haven't used it much, but what is exactly wrong with immersive armours?
I haven't used it much, but what is exactly wrong with immersive armours?
If I remember the old complaints correct it's bloated as fuck, and the armors are made by like putting a couple of different ones together then making parts invisible.

Don't forget the hilariously inconsistent quality due to it just being a bunch of random armor mods slapped together
its also incompatible with my nude gay body mods so it's automatically shit

What is NOT wrong with it.
Here's an egregious example I was introduced to in an earlier thread.

isnt it a hack job with multiple complete armor models just slapped together with the unused parts textured invisible

to be ENTIRELY fair that's honestly the worst and only garbage outfit on there. the rest are MEH.
I mean there are like 3 other outfits that look like garbage model/texture wise but in terms of AESTHETICS its fine.
The good stuff in there is quite available from the original authors, most of it in non-fucked format.

It seems like a lot of people are saying this, but what is nice about "Immersive X" is that it's all one package. It may not be the best quality but there's next to no mods that offer that volume of stuff, with a relatively lore-conforming aesthetic.
It isn't great, but it's convenient.
I've not had problems with immersive weapons...
The influx of elder scrolls memes recently convinced me to play Skyrim again, can't believe the last time I played it before now was in 2012

It's easy. It's not convenient, it if was convenient it wouldn't fuck your long-term performance and take up a billion gigs of space.

I went back to Skyrim after a long hiatus. I was immediately greeted by two claw pussles, two fetch quests and a shrine quest involving going through a dungeon filled with undead dudes. I think I'll go back to Oblivion instead...
Been playing Oblivion, looked back at my saves and realised how many times I tried getting into it.
Finally can say I have, it's charm has overcome me. For example, I'm doing the quest "Two Sides of the Coin" in Bruma. I talk to the jailer and say I want to see a prisoner, he gets angry and says "ugh what a bother, I'll have to stay with you the whole time".
he opens the door and goes back his seat.
what a great guard 10/10

Gorefast or Fleshpound, I wonder.

A smoking hot ebony lass in a swashbuckler outfit is a pretty compelling argument...

Oblivion has some of the best quests of the series, bar none.
