Lmgs wreck helicopters, but can't be silenced of course [editline]27th February 2017[/editline] Probably vehicles too, never bothered shooting cars
I didn't get a very good impression from the beta. The graphics are alright, but the performance is a bit choppy (100% CPU usage bug like was in Division?). The shooting mechanics seems to be alright and there seems to be a vast amount of guns and customization in the game. Vehicle physics are just shit and "exploring" the world with that handling is just lame. Gameplay overall seems to be very repetitive and dull. Also small stuff like the radios on cars/street (only way to mute them is by manually closing it or shooting the radio, music volume does nothing to it), blood overlay when you get shot looks awful (not to mention the redundant "FALL BACK" text when you get low enough) and no jumping. And the character creator seemed quite lacking in my opinion. I might pick this up in a year or so if I can pick it up for 10-15€. I just don't think it's worth more for me personally.
I've cleared bases with a silenced pistol and I honestly couldn't tell a difference. You can technically clear a base undetected with an unsilenced gun too.
Yeah, with a silenced pistol you can shoot it as much as you want and guards won't hear it, but they definitely will hear silenced ARs and especially sniper rifles if they're too close. And yeah you can clear a base with an unsilenced gun, no shit, I'm talking about stealth.
I played on the third hardest difficulty and felt it was a little too easy at times. You could just flat out take out a whole group with no noise with very little effort through just a wee bit of planning. The AI should be better if I would invest in this.

In other words, if you've got an unsuppressed weapon, as long as you're quick enough at snap-shooting that they never spot you, you're good.
I feel like this game would've been so much better had it been developed by Ubisoft Montreal rather than Ubisoft Paris. I'd rather have a stealth game from the makers of Splinter Cell Blacklist or even Far Cry 3/4 over a studio that's made 12 Just Dance games, a couple of Rabbids games, Michael Jackson Experience, and Ghost Recon Future Soldier between 2009 and now. [editline]a[/editline] Unfortunately they were probably waaay too busy working on Rainbow Six: Siege, Watch_Dogs 2, and For Honor for that to even be considered.

That convoy I linked last page took me and my friend five attempts before we finally got it down.

gained a lot of respect for special forces for having to deal with these scenarios

There is just a lot of polishing to be done, AI improvement to be done as well. They should've released this far later than March 7th.

The first time you fire a unsilenced weapon, the whole base will go on alert and will sound the alarm and will send reinforcements.

Cars work untill you go slightly offroad (or pick a fast car) and helicopters seem to have a mind of their fucking own (seems like the game is trying to "help" flying it way too hard, I've had my heli slow down while holding w on occasion). I've not flown planes myself so I can't give any comment on that.
Man, only got a day out of the beta, was hoping that would keep going until release. Felt like a rather strange game actually, to me it was like if Just Cause played as a tactical shooter. It's kind of a fun concept if you take it at face value. Got it for free with one of my 1070s so I guess I can afford to do that though. Hopefully the full game doesn't get too repetitive overall.

Despite the awkwardness of it, I actually really enjoyed my time with the beta, as it seems to have worked pretty flawlessly for me. I think the strongest aspect of it is the map, it is interesting and I want to explore more of it.
I'm missing the game already. Damn, I had fun even with the AI. I love using the drone.
I did have a bit more fun in the open beta than the closed beta, but I'm very reluctant to spend more than $40 on this still as towards the end of the second province in the beta it already started feeling like a chore getting around the country. It was kind of fun in co-op but it's still overall too janky for me to be able to commit a full $70 on it.
Am I unable to uninstall the game? It's not on my Steam list and when I try to uninstall it from the control panel, it just redirects me to Steam.

That's what I ended up doing. Crisis averted.

Wait so it gets unlocked earlier on Steam than on Uplay in Europe? That seems weird, don't Steam Ubisoft games launch Uplay anyway?
It'd be nice if they gave times in GMT instead of CET. It's not like the conversion is difficult, but it makes no sense to me to not give a base level standard at least.

Sooo... hey. This game is out now. Anyone at all playing? :v:
Sooo... hey. This game is out now. Anyone at all playing? :v:
I am.. or, well, was. I'm away to bed. Just trying to quickly solo the crap in Itacua so I can move on to the surrounding areas. I think I'm noticing an increase in difficulty, bad guys seem to respond quicker to sightings of you, and reinforcements come in harder/faster. (Unidad is scary now, which I don't remember them being in the Open Beta). The map is goddamn gorgeous.
Still a few hours till its out here, but looking forward to it! Biggest question: Can you still only have 1 save/character? Or was that just a beta thing?
is there a Facepunch Task Force?
Still a few hours till its out here, but looking forward to it! Biggest question: Can you still only have 1 save/character? Or was that just a beta thing?
iirc you are allowed to have 3 different saves
iirc you are allowed to have 3 different saves
Oh sweet, I thought for sure that wasn't the case but you have to start one before the option even shows up to switch saves/start another.
Just cleared Itacua. There are a number of UI differences and car handling feels better but that might just be me. Helicopters still handle like ass. Difficulty feels like it got a small boost as well. Getting weird graphical lock ups and hitches that I didn't before though. The CPU usage bug seems to still exist but annoyingly you can't set the game to Normal priority anymore as it is already there and still causing CPU usage to hit 100%. On the plus side, reviews are better than I personally would have believed.
