Ghost Recon : Wildlands V1 - Some are Soldiers, We are Ghosts.

There's a free 'weekend' starting on the 12th.
The AI team mates are a mixed bag. If you don't tell them to fire they won't fire. If you get into a full on firefight it can take them a while to figure out that they need to shoot shit. When they do shoot they're accurate enough and put enemies down about as quickly as you. That said I recommend getting the sync shot ability maxed out as quickly as possible so you can make and execute 3 targets instead of 1.
On sync shots, your team don't normally shoot if you open fire, so you can pick enemies off without starting a fight, but it they have shots lined up your next shot will trigger them.
The biggest issue, in my opinion, is the command wheel. It's fiddly to use and I keep spinning my mouse wheel in the wrong direction.
Also, you can call rebel support in the form of marking an area, mortaring an area, going to a place and causing a fight/distraction (or used as extra backup who hold a line), they can drop off vehicles, and you can call in a group of rebels to just follow you around and shoot stuff.
I just played the DLC and although it was nice to see Ironside back it wasn't all that great.
Let's start with the mission itself. Sneak into the base without getting noticed or killing anyone. The enemy AI is pretty bad in this game compared to other stealth games that really want you to sneak. Wildlands is more build around the idea of quiet elimination of the enemy base in my opinion. It wasn't as fun but manageable.
Next defend Sam while he hacks. Are we really going to start defending without any preparation in the middle of an enemy base that we were forbidden to clear beforehand? And against fucking Apache helicopters? Thank god I'm carrying an anti-material rifle on my character. Pretty bullshit scenario they throw you in.
After that you just need to exfil which is always fun, trying to find a vehicle and an exit while the whole base is on your ass and helis fire rockets at you.
So yeah, the mission started okay but got pretty annoying soon after.
Now let's talk about Sam. As far as the performance goes at times Ironside sounded like he was trying too hard to sound tough. It didn't help they are continuing with the hardass Sam from Blacklist instead bringing back the sarcastic Chaos Theory one.
Finally a visual complaint, I always hated the default outfit they gave Sam in Blacklist (there are better looking ones you can unlock in Blacklist). It looks way too sci-fi and without much utility features. It doesn't help I learned to appreciate real life operator gear over the skin-tight super spy costumes.

It's been a while since I played Wildlands, but if you have a grenade launcher on your rifle then helicopters ain't shit. Unless they changed it, you can one hit a helicopter with a single 40mm grenade
HTI can down helicopters in 1 or 2 shots. The Tier 40 version has been one hit every time thus far. The way I snuck into the base was just parachute from 1.5k out from helicopter and land right on the second floor of the building. EzPz

Pretty nicely timed screenshot
Playing the game reminded me of Mercenaries, can i expect the game to play similarly (with less bullet spongy players and more free-roam, target apprehending, vehicle dropping goodness)?
Not really. Calling in vehicles just spawns them 'nearby' which is a road, or field, somewhere on, or just outside, your minimap. There are target capture missions but they're easily the most frustrating missions to do, thankfully there are only a small handful. It's more like MGSV with more of a focus on using realistic gear with light squad mechanics.
Ah right, I'll try the free weekend out either way. Cheers mate, I miss useful.
The AI customization thing is kinda whack. The way people were going on about it, I was expecting being able to change everything about the AI Ghosts(gender, skin color, weapon loadouts).
My dreams of roaming the countryside with a squad of crossbow wielding chicks have been crushed like tiny packing peanuts.
Has anyone else had Unidad troops directly spawn ontop of them during the Operation Watchtower mission?
On the bright side, you're not a bullet sponge on Advanced or Extreme difficulty. And at Tier 40 or so (You start at 50 after you hit the level cap of 30 in-game and turn Tier 1 mode on) You basically can't get hit but once or twice, and the AI Aimbot more and more the higher you go. Free Roam is as free as it gets, vehicle dropping is there, but it's just spawning, no dropping. You can grab anyone and knock them out instead of shoot them, only some specific targets need to be interrogated/talked to. Some people need to be extracted so you shove them into a vehicle and haul ass
haha that's a pretty funny video
how do i get my account back
i ended up finishing the splinter cell mission and the predator mission today
fuck both of those missions.
I just finished up the Splinter Cell mission as well, and holy shit that Solid Snake reference on the last cutscene lmao
Is Goat Recon Wildhams worth buying at 67% off? I'm mostly only interested in the SP but might give MP a go too
I'd say it is, yeah. It's a solid game. Haven't tried the PVP MP yet, but coop is pretty fun too.
Just nabbed the game. If anyone wants to play with me, I would love to play with them. Here's my steam!

The game's having a free weekend, and it's on sale. I just picked up the $40 season pass that includes the 2 expansions for $5.94, also

Made a poor financial decision, but dat aesthetic. Totally worth it!
Gotta say, couldn't care less about this game, but heard Ironside has a cameo as Sam Fisher and started reading up on it.
Smart, Ubisoft, smart.
Uhhh, did anyone see something like a meteor come crashing through the atmosphere during a storm at some point? It looked like a flare, but it was from too far off for it to be one shot by NPC's. And it was during the day time. Little weirded out.
And load times. I don't understand the load times. 40 seconds, off a SSD, to fast travel to a spot I already have loaded up because I'm a whole 40 meters from the place. 40 seconds or so to respawn after being knocked down, though SOMETIMES, it'll respawn me INSTANTLY with no loading at all
The hell is this game's deal? It's like it sits and waits for Ubisoft's slow servers to give my game permission to do anything and THEN loads for all of 3 seconds
Did buy the correct cratew? IIRC R6S icons are GW crates.
Operation Watchman is such fucking bullshit. Some of the worst game-design I've seen in a long time.
Anyone got a good cheesing strat for it?
We were thinking of clearing out the base before 21:00, but I'm worried that it'll reset our position and spawn the enemies.
Another plan is to steal an attack chopper or two to keep in standby over the base until shit hits the fan.
Parachuting out over it can do the trick. I just fired a flare off away from the building and let everyone go to it, then snuck in that way.
Yeah, Just parachute in. Land on the roof right next to the door Sam is sitting in. Then when shit kicks off you sit in the room, crouched, watching both sets of stairs. They're lined up for you. Then when it's time to extract, Get your Grenade Launcher or HTI for helicopters, clear bad guys around you if there are any left. Then you just drive off all done
I ended up driving Sam to the extraction point in a tractor
it took a fucking while
Jesus Christ and I thought the Predator Fight was bullshit, this Watchman shit is a load of bollocks.
