OVERWATCH DEV NOTES FOR PTR:
We have a new build coming soon that has some Roadhog and Winston changes to test out.
Roadhog
Scrap Gun

Spread decreased by 20%
Chain Hook
Targets are now pulled to a location 3.5 meters away, up from 2 meters.
Cooldown increased from 6 to 8
Winston
Critical hit volume reduced by 15%
The Roadhog changes overall reduce the power of his hook a bit, but his gun is now more effective when not using the hook.
Winston's head hit volume was just abnormally big, making him take more damage than he otherwise should. This change brings it more in line with other heroes.
Yes, I can snipe more guys now. This is good.
still no dva buffs lol
From what I've heard, follow up oneshots are pretty difficult on Mei, Sombra, Ana and Lucio now.
With the PTR nerf, hook actually has a lot of counter play. An attentive Zarya can hard counter him due to the longer CD; ofc though requires her to use her projected barrier for nothing else since they have the same CD. Also since Road Hog's gun fires projectiles with a slow travel speed, the the 3.5 pull distance means heroes with invulnerable states like Reaper and Mei have a fighting chance and Genji potentially has a chance to activate deflect though I haven't seen anyone testing that.
That doesn't work.
Im pretty sure the hook is coded with a stun to guarantee hog always gets first move.
Reaper is still terrible against him.
I still think this nerf hits too hard, but I guess time will tell.
Two things:
1. Sombra's tele will probably never get fixed at this point. Which is stupid, that tele is how you get good positioning and escapes to/from EMPs and hacks.
2. Oh my fucking god this nerf is a mistake.
The spread and the additional length is just narrow enough to make fighting tanks with a hook, and specifically Roadhog v Roadhog, a pain in the ass, while also giving classes like Ana and Mei more leeway when you whiff a shot/get Kaplain'd over you. This is ridiculous.
Personally I think they should give Hog a Symmetra tier rework.
-Nerf the fuck out of the combo damage so that it only 1 shot squishies and only if the hog has faster reflexes.
+Make his heal also heal allies in a short radius for a reduced amount.
+make his hook able to grab teammates so he can pull off saves.
+Give his M1 a huge amount of knockback so he can push people off ledges and off points.
Boom now he has massive utility and doesn't hinge entirely off of one obnoxious combo.
Accidentally hooking teammates will be a real ball ache though, I imagine it to be a similar frustration to trying to heal with ana, only to have a team mate run into your sights and block a life saving heal

So basically make him like a more inconvenient pudge. With a lucio boop m1 that defeats the purpose of the hook.
Personally the only thing I would do is give the hook the ability to pull in Roadhog toward the person. Would make capping points and stopping gimmick rushing much easier
reaper and mei being able to survive and get away is fine, but if the sombra, ana and lucio thing is true then thats bs.
200hp heroes should still die, i dont get why they have to give ana practical immunity again, she was finally a bit less annoying to fight against when roadhog could reliably pick her off.
Except Reaper doesn't survive, and is one of the easier heroes to oneshot.
Honestly this nerf feels like a bandaid to a poorly designed hero in the first place.

I think HotS actually did something with Stitches' hook where they separated friendly hook into a different ability. If we're talking rework, it wouldn't be terribly difficult to give Hog two separate hooks
I'm still not even a fan of hog getting a rework, though. Sure, hook/one-shot combo isn't amazing, but upon further thought the PTR changes aren't that bad. If Blizz is to go further, though, I'm afraid they'd make hog irrelevant
I want to try some gamemode ideas but nobody enters my lobbies ;_;
I want more support heroes.

hooking teammates would be terrible, it'd be like mei trolling teammates with ice walls magnified by 100
God dva is so annoying

nice
I want Blizzard to start ignoring the balance opinions of everyone but top teams

I still can't imagine what Bastion would've been like if they acted out from the thousands of complaints they got nearly daily at launch.
If maining Ana for infinite SR is wrong I don't want to be right
They afraid to take down meta-grandma yet are totally fine to ruin two other characters.

The only nerfs Ana needs are heavier nerfs to the biotic grenade.
i actually just went through the B.net thread, the amount of cancer is unbearable
its really quite funny how people love seeing heroes they hate get nerfed into the ground but as soon as a hero they like is nerfed blizzard is a shit company and should hire people who know what they're doing
i feel like some people here would fit in better over at the b.net forums :v:
TBH I don't care about the recent d.va nerf because it did nothing really. As for Ana, she is my main support, and I still think she needs nerfs.
I don't give a crap about nerfs to some of my mains because I know some of the shit is BS, like the biotic grenade. All I care about is the game being balanced. Roadhog needed nerfs, and I thought that was obvious, and is a step in the right direction.
Fuck yes. With this rate, however, there might not be any top teams left to give them advice soon.
A game can't hope to have competitive integrity if the devs listen to the lowest common denominator. The balancing of this game is reaching TF2 tier.
Tf2 is more balanced than overwatch could ever dream to be.

P sure most pros wanted the cooldown increased.
Tf2 is more balanced than overwatch could ever dream to be.
I think that's simply due to age. Overwatch can be balanced if Blizzard actually cared.
Roadhog needed nerfs, and I thought that was obvious, and is a step in the right direction.
no but ult battery
Tf2 is more balanced than overwatch could ever dream to be.
2 Scouts, 2 Soldiers, 1 Medic, 1 Demo is really balanced
no but ult battery
Ok so we need a new hero that can kill everything around it in a 30 mile radius but if you poke it you get instant ult
2 Scouts, 2 Soldiers, 1 Medic, 1 Demo is really balanced
I wasn't aware you were a pro 6s player.
Because the actual TF2 doesn't follow the heavily modified 6s ruleset in the slightest.
That said, if you think Heavy, Sniper, Engineer and Spy don't have their place in 6s you clearly don't even watch it.

TF2 tier is releasing a bunch of pointless changes only a couple times a year without any community testing.
While I agree they shouldn't be listening to every joe schmo I still prefer them actually giving a shit and changing things at a healthy rate like proper game developers should.
I think Ana needs to be centered around actual burst healing instead of consistent heal rate. Lower clip and reload speed, but still a fast fire rate should make it so she can 1-100 a tank if she needs to, but she has to be supplemented by another healer to keep her team topped off. She should have a faster healing rate than mercy in a very short period of time, but past 2 clips or so Mercy should come out on top in heal rate (in a vacuum anyway). Right now a solo Ana can take care of a team essentially, not really efficient but it's entirely doable.

Even casual TF2 isn't balanced, Heavy is a meatbag most of the time. Remember the Half-Zatoichi? How about the Quick Fix, or how the spies disguise is basically useless on anyone who's played the game for 2 hours. The Ubersaw is a straight upgrade from stock melee. Axtinguisher being thrown in the garbage, and was once an upgrade like the ubersaw. The pyro is useless most of the time, especially with the nerf to his afterburn. How about the time you could pretty much live forever as the spy with the dead ringer, and to fix it they just made it useless also.
TF2 has a lot of problems beyond most classes seeing little action in 6s
