Blizz makes more money on event crates.
Events are fine and dandy the first year. But people are going to notice "Hey. Why is most of the Overwatch content locked behind events?" Sooner or later.
I am pretty sure now they see a drop in their player base when there isn't an event going on because there is no point in getting normal loot boxes anymore.

The problem with this mentality is that even if you could get a grandmaster to queue with you, in theory the MM should just gimp your team with bronze players (or give the enemy team better players) to compensate and keep both teams at the same average SR. The only way to boost that would actually make sense would be if you played with somebody who was a lower rank than they were supposed to be, aka a smurf.
Not that boosting would actually give you a better experience, it would just make the MM think you're better than you are once you're not boosting anymore and you'd get a long slog of losses.

It did give me enough coins to buy roadhog's skin, but damn I really wanted his highlight intro.

As for the cooldown increase, I find it well justified. At least when people say Zarya can be a good counter to the hook, they can mean it.
Having it share the same cooldown as that ability is pretty key to its nerf. Previously, Zarya was only a counter once, and then Roadhog got the 2nd one for free. (6s cd vs 8s cd will do that)
Since this game encourages death balling there is no punishing roadhog for missing a hook in higher play, he just stays in his deathball and tries again.
Zarya can now shut this out, at the very least.
That said, from the video here I find it very odd that it seems Winston is taking even MORE damage than he does on live usually from this combo.
Which is really the last thing he needed.
So your self sufficient carry machine will still most likely still function until you run into a good Zarya.
I have my own issues with the way this nerf was handled, but I still find him perfectly playable.

Theres also the issue of heroes who actually have the mobility and then the DPS to actually punish roadhog is pathetically small.
Even more so if you count his self healing, feeding ultimate or not, its stupid as fuck that you can run into a roadhog healing himself and not be able to do jack shit about it because your hero isn't capable of 600 burst damage in 2.5 seconds. There is no punishing an out of position hog. Ironically enough.
Currently, I can only think of Tracer who is even capable of anything remotely close to that level of damage.

I think the only instance of that is Reaper.
I remember McCree had a reload cancel regarding his m2, but all reload cancels have been fixed I think.

It's never an advantage to cancel the reload animation unless you're doing it with an ability you actually want to use, ie healing/hooking as roadhog, meleeing to get some extra damage in, etc. I'm not sure if the last one is actually an advantage DPS-wise, however.
That doesn't stop a lot of Reapers from trying, though.
