but "you're fighting McCree at the wrong range" is an inherently shit argument because he can kill at all ranges, and you can't bait flashbang because of it's high aoe.

You guys are seriously overestimating Roadhog. While I also don't think he should be able to one-shot other tanks, he is easily dealt with if you use at least some communication with your team. This is especially important for Zarya, who can use his high burst damage against him.

Focus fire implies you require the majority of the team to kill him. All you need is one or two people to bring him down.

I don't know why you're acting like Zen killing Roadhogs is impressive. Zenyatta is actually a pretty good counter for Roadhog, to the point that I'm pretty sure Roadhog got measurably less usage under the Zenyatta meta.
His discord orbs have always been a pretty good anti-tank measure and Roadhog's the one tank with no way of defending himself. Zen is also effective outside of Roadhogs hook range, so unlike heroes like Reaper you can still kill him without putting yourself in harms way. If anything Zen is one of the best Roadhog counters in the game right now.

Focus fire can by any number of your team.
2V1s aren't a "counter"
they're just a basic strategy that can be applied to anything.
A counter to roadhog would be a hero who can effortlessly avoid his hook and fry him.
Which from the look of meta picks, may not exist.
Ana's 100% meta, and she's a big big hog counter. He's the easiest thing in the game to sleep dart, Ana's small size make her hard to shoot and hook, she can kill him in well under one clip, he's a slow and extremely easy to hit target, she can stop him from healing altogether, and she completely outranges him.
I mean hell, in general anything squishy enough for hog to be able to one shot is also small and fast enough to require a lot of skill to land hooks on. You could argue d.va, but it's really not a one shot at all and she's definitely the exception, not the rule.
I still feel like the hook has a length of a whole map. Seems like there is a lot of situations where I swear I'm out of the hooks range but get hooked anyway.

Roadhog pretty much one shots everything except most tanks though. Even with tanks he leaves them hurt bad and generally in a position to be finished off by the rest of Roadhog's team.

That really depends on the other enemy. You can easily do one (Sombra, Reaper, Mei) but like dealing with all tanks it's best if you do two.
