I just played tf2 with some buddies and it was an awful experience. Hadn't played it in a year or two. I am thankful for Overwatch.

I'm starting to give up hope on getting to gold this season. Ever since I started playing competitive I actually sunk more than I ranked. I tried being communicative, I tried filling the roles that needed to be filled and I perfomed well for the most part but apparently it wasn't enough.
Like this one match where I actually thought I fitted well with a group of players just for them next game to be completely out of sync and just throw themselves at one another. Sometimes I had to teach people how to play the game because they didn't even know what made a good team compostion. I ranked up hours upon hours of playing Ana and doing save after save but it wasn't enough in the end.
Solo-queue is just hell to actually be able to ascend in ranks.

I'm gonna try an experiment next Season and only play characters like D.va during my placement matches.
I primarily play Zenyatta, and I do a great job, but there's no medal for getting assists. Hence why I've decided to play all of my placement matches as characters who are supremely good at getting medals; with some luck, I'll be able to pass on to the hallowed halls of Platinum Tier.
Winter Break fucked me but good, solo queuing with that massive influx of schoolkids made me drop from 2500 to around 1700 at my lowest.
Hey guys I know this thread is full of really well-performing overwatch players (or people who complain that they should be ranked high and aren't), but
Am I the only person who plays their placement matches, gets placed in silver, and goes, "If that's where I belong, that's okay" and goes back to arcade?
I try to group up with at least 1 or 2 people rather than trickle in (usually everyone is, at different times so it's hard to even get a group of 3 going before someone dies). I don't do mic chat but if someone else does I listen. I play every hero at least occasionally so I'm familiar with what they can do. Granted on the rare occasions I play ranked I stick to character's I've often done well with. I don't have any single "main" really. Then again I'm a real casual compared to a lot of people here, I only really play enough to get the arcade loot boxes each week, and often I don't even play enough to get all of them.
I'm just curious if there are other people as casual and low-skilled as me in this thread who just really appreciate the game nonetheless. If not for high-level strategy, than for being a fun time with fantastic visuals, great music, and very polished gameplay.

I still play it and it's as fun as ever even after a 4-year hiatus (from pc gaming in general), tho I give credit to Overwatch for also being able to serve as a salt harvester and a toxicology degree
god is cruel, offense hero player is useless all game and gets potg because our zarya did a perfect ult for his pharah ult. But I was gonna throw out my d'va ult anyway so he was just at the right place at the right time
I'm starting to considering dropping Genji from my hero picks altogether at this point.
I've been playing him since launch and, while his gameplay remains as challenging as it was back then, the multiple nerfs he recived means I recived less of a reward when I do things right, so at this point I could really pick any other offensive class
Overwatch's map design is so garbage compared to other shooters. Not even just the chokes but there's so many useless areas in maps that no one has reasons to go to. But they have health packs there like Blizz thought it'd be a heavily traffic'd area but nope. One that comes to mind is the hotel to the right of Volskaya. Like wtf, there's a health pack here and a whole other floor? Why? Why???

this is a consistent theme in some overwatch maps, which suggests that blizzard didn't playtest them very well to work out where the fighting takes place
numbani could have 70% of the map taken away and it would still play in exactly the same way

In a weird way this does create an appeal to actually go in to an unpopulated game and roam around looking at the environments, but yeah, a lot of random unnecessary stuff thrown in to every map :v:
