I much rather lose all day in comp then play QP. At least most people there are actually trying.
Dang maybe I should try comp. I'm level 39 and I've not touched anything but quickplay.
People who hold onto their ults and never use them until the very end of a round in a last-ditch effort to win are the fucking worst. Like, it is one of the most simple things to avoid, it's so fucking easy it hurts. I'm genuinely exasperated because the amount of times I've been in games where we lose because 4 of my teammates have their ults the entire fucking round and only use them when the enemy team is just about to cap is genuinely infuriating.
I know what you mean, far too many people either getting greedy or trying to go for that sick POTG. I've seen far too many Mercy's fuck up because rather than reviving her 2 fallen players, she waits for the others to die not realising people don't die at the same time and by the time they do, the others will respawn One of the best in game 'tips' Overwatch gives is when playing Pharah, ''Don't miss good opportunities to use your ultimate while waiting for the 'perfect' one''
Dang maybe I should try comp. But other times, it's goddam fun; yesterday I had one that lasted 5 rounds and it was intense.

Man this is competitive in a nutshell, i wish people wasn't so obsessed with the meta. It would allow for people to actually get creative about their picks.
Honestly, I don't mind Sombra at all. If the guy that plays her is good he can reliably shut down most of the annoying Meta tanks like Roadhog and Reinhardt. My beef is with people that use certain heroes at the wrong fucking time. Like that one guy in one game that left me to heal the entire team as a Lucio just to switch to Symmetra in Koth when we didn't even had the point yet.
Just play what you like in comp and fuck everyone else
Just play what you like in comp and fuck everyone else
Ok, let's not get too wild. Playing what you like is fine but you need to put the team in first priority. You don't see me playing Reaper on comp when we already have a Soldier and a Genji on the same team just because I feel like it.

People actively complain in competitive if you pick the "wrong heroes" in the correct role too.
Oh, no, you got it all wrong. People actively complain in competitive if you pick the "wrong heroes" in the correct role too.
That is what happens when the game is as balanced as well as this.
That is what happens when the game is as balanced as well as this.
Yep. I actually tend to agree with most of the comps I see on my team lately, unless someone is trolling of coarse.
There's no question about it when it comes to Overwatch not being as balanced as it could be, but I think people looking at tier lists too much is also to blame in this case as well. Tier lists are mainly for the highest level of competitive play where both teams are expected to play each hero at it's best. You rarely get that in your average ranked and quick play game. Just because you're playing a certain hero, like say Tracer in the offense role, doesn't mean you're going to automatically do better then a good Sombra. I've seen so many times where Widows and Hanzos absolutely own the enemy team, but the community labels them and others as bad because high comp says so and that just sucks the fun out of the game.
I think its per hero more than per player. A team who's running a Reinhardt will ususally beat out a team that is not. A team who is running S76 will ususally beat out a team that is running a different DPS A team who's running Mercy will have a very hard time against a team running Ana. that sort of shit.
I misclicked competitive while starting overwatch this morning only to instantly get matched in at least we steamrolled the enemy team

That's per hero, but in your average ranked and quickplay it's more per player. Imo the only exceptions are indeed Reinhardt and Ana, but even they can be bad if the player doesn't know how to play them well enough.
I don't think any of the meta heroes (or any heroes) are hard enough to warrant the meta being entirely absent from lower ranked play.
Imo, the meta changes depending on over all skill level of players. I'm talking about gaming in general, but I'm thinking of fighting games specifically.
I hate this meta. So much.
Well, at least its an improvement from what it was before the D.Va buff: [t]http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/overwatch/images/0/08/Icon-portrait-hexagon.3CV6U.png/revision/latest?cb=20150805195531[/t][t]https://u.cubeupload.com/ILeU3g.png[/t][t]https://cdn.wiki.denfaminicogamer.jp/files/attachment/000/159/357/thumb_upload.png[/t][t]http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/overwatch/images/1/17/Zarya.png/revision/latest?cb=20150306191239[/t] Who am I kidding, it's the same exact thing :v:
I believe there's something to be said for unconventional picks and comps. I've been in plenty of comps where we stomped and everyone was like "weirdest comp ever but it worked" and I think that's partially because everyone is so obsessed with the current meta, and fighting Soldier, Ana, Roadhog, Reinhardt, Lucio/Zenyatta, and D.VA over and over and over, that when suddenly they're faced with a Sombra or a Winston they have no idea how to deal with it. Hell, I've seen so many teams get stomped just because of a Pharah they can't cope with.

But apparently at low elo where the meta is probably at it's highest is such a alien concept that the Soldier on your team much rather prefer shooting at the shielding Rein than the Pharah that's constantly harassing their healer. I had one game where I pretty much stayed on the cart as Lucio while the enemy team tried capturing. I was standing right on top of it and nobody even bothered to attack me. Even the Genji that had he's ult decided that was better wasting he's ult on my team that was almost miles away from the objective than me. The person that was literally on the way of their team winning.
i just got gold in eliminations as ana in ctf
"Play as heroes, not classes!" :v: And then proceed to make some classes dominate roles for that extra sub-imbalance

So I just went and did that thing where you improve your aim by creating an enemy team of ana bots, setting it to headshot only, and spend time practicing headshots. Also I lowered my sensitivity to 5. I started with a headshot accuracy of 11%, and after an additional ~hour of practice I was up to 26% headshot accuracy, which is pretty fucking good in my books. I went in to a competitive game and I could definitely notice the difference. Small targets like Zenyatta were easy to hit, and tanks were child's play to follow. I feel like if you practiced this for like a week you'd be insanely good.
Every match I have is a two tank, Ana and Lucio meta team. Been dripping into Arcade and QP now. It's getting really boring, thinking of just quitting until something changes cuz I don't find the meta at all interesting to play as.
I don't know, at my level I don't see off picks work THAT well. Roadhog being the universal counter to everything doesn't help. Only certain offpicks seem to work, Pharah is one of them oddly enough. Never seen anyone make Attack Torb work.
Pharah is still not that "off pick" as people make it out to be honestly. She can work much better in certain maps. Junkrat on the other hand... :v:
