As long as it's on attack, I don't see the problem, tracer can be amazing for the team in the right hands

This happened to me once but I'm not sure if I did it right or if people's instinct is the reason why this works.
My team tried killing the people on top so they kept on kicking our ass. I had a Zenyatta moment where I thought "I don't have to kill the enemy team" so I went on the payload, going past their defences.
Next think you know, we reached the checkpoint because they were too scattered trying to reposition their 4 defence heros.

tbh i think all the maps are ok and id call them all 'fun' at one point but hanamura and watchpoint have been grinded to death for me that theyre just kinda like oh this shit again

After months playing with a friend I came to the conclusion I can't no longer solo in this game. Always in quick-play someone refuses to choose a tank or support or even just straight go for offensive/defensive heroes only. It can be fun yes, but I don't like being yelled by the game with a bit red box telling me what is wrong with this team.
Also I'm trying as hard of possible to not care about the limited timed event items since I can't play often this game, but every time time I see white/blue only items it makes hard to ignore the fact after the event I wouldn't be able to get those items until next year.
I hope at some point the team finds a roundabout way to make a reference to "Wrestle with Jeff, prepare for death" in-game

It really sounds like you need a break, maybe play something less stressful for a little while.
I find a bit of minecraft, or runescape, or civ, or cities skylines, or whatever, really helps with that.
