Is it a revival or reboot because if it's a revival im so far behind lol
Revival moving forward in time as far as I know
I vote Orbis just so I can participate.
Would prefer a reboot so I can sorta start on par with everyone else

If you're gonna reboot it at that point might be better to have a different map or start on the other side of the world
They way Orbis works, nobody really has advantages for existing for a while. Player countries rise and fall.
I'm starting to read the original Orbis now so I know what I'm getting into :v:
ORBIS ORBIS ORBIS ORBIS ORBIS
After reading a dozen turns of Orbis, I think I'll back the "continuation a few centuries later" over a full reboot. I'd like to create a civ with a culture already in place rather than have to develop it through the stone age. Just a preference, though.
But that's the entire appeal of Orbis
orbis it is
the turn will be out between now and the end of the universe, or potentially later than that
My only hope now is that I'm online and here when the game starts :v:

Don't you dare touch the existing Dwarfs of Southern Jiuan.
I would honestly much rather create my own dwarven civilization.
If not Dwarves, then definitely Orcs. If it's going to be "post golden age/middle ages-esque", then my Orcs would definitely be modeled after the Mongols.

Dwarves should work together to end the First Age of Man and create the Age of Iron & Stone :v:

Man never really kicked off that much imo. Goblin controls the world's markets, dwarves their resources, and the orcs are easily the strongest militarily. The only advantage man has at this point is being numerous.

Soon
Delshor stronk and no other Mongol allowed remove other Mongol Delshor only Mongol
Human strong Delshor strong Human forever

Dorfs are the TRUE master race, don't let any Jewish goblins or the dep1's tell you otherwise
If you make a Dwarven civ, me, you and Damian should chat. We've made a bit of a creation myth. If you're based in Jiuan, I'd be totally up for writing some lore about the new Dwarves. [sp]And for squashing puny humans.[/sp]
anybody who was a player in the last turn of orbis should send in their saved turn now (or rewrite it)

we're entering the middle of the middle ages:

guess you fascist bastards will just have to wait
And here I was hoping to give a rat nation another go. Ahh well, it will still be nice reading Orbis again.
fallout rp :(
So, I posted this idea I had for an RP in the Discord so I can see if people are interested and hopefully to get some advice/crituque on it. I wanted to do a RP where the players would be gangs fighting for control over a future-ish city. A bit different from Nation states RPs, but not too far from the norm.
Here is what have so far and keep in mind it's still WIP.
It's in, lets say, 2055 so people can have a bit more room when creating their gang. Maybe they want it to be cyberpunk, maybe they want classy mobster types. Up to them. The city is gonna have 3 types of zones. Red, yellow and blue. Red is gonna be crime infested since the police force won't come out that often. Perfect for recruiting, but don't expect the cash to come flowing from there. Blue zones are generally almost free of crime. High police pressence. It's high risk high reward for any gang activity. Yellow zones are in the middle. Now there is no limitations to where your gang can start. You can start right next to city hall if you want, but you will be playing with the odds stacked against you in that case.
The police will play some role when writing the turns, cracking down on the gangs and such. But I'm thinking of setting a limit to that because I don't want a player getting wiped out by the police by turn 3.(edited)
The players themselves will have 3 atributes they can look to improve. Manpower, money income and gear. Manpower shows how how many recruits you'll get per turn. Money income explains itself. Gear, I'm going to leave this to the players to improvise a bit. Of course will be on the lookout on them not going overboard with it and making shit overpowered. "My gang has worked out a deal with a Korean arm smuggler for nukes." None of that unless its waaaaay late into the game. Diplomacy, expansion etc. should work the same as Nation state rps.
And the last bit I have is these 'world events'. Every five turns something will happen. A new police chief gets brought in. Maybe he's corrupt as hell, maybe he's a hard ass who will crack down harder on the red zones. Maybe the government will block any way to enter or leave the city untill things calm down. I'll be trying to skew these in the players favor, but they will be picked at random.
Tell me what you think is good, what you think is bad, that I suck etc.
Recruiting for a player for Shifting Sands Redux
We have a slot open, it's now 1966:
The forces of Egypt & Syria have defeated Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea War
Israel unilaterally invades and occupies the Gaza Strip
Oman and Yemen in a state of civil war with communist rebels, slowly gaining the upper hand
Kurdish nationalists are slowly gaining political control of Iraq
Islamic outrage in Persia over the Christian marriage of the Persian princess to an Ethiopian infidel

Sounds interetsing, I'd be interested in joining.
Man, when I started Starpath, I didn't expect to receive Steam messages constantly nagging me to update the thread. It's not like I've forgotten about the game, it's just that writing major updates (combat or not), takes several hours out of my night, every night. I like to work most when I feel comfortable and everything around the house and in my personal life is taken care of. It gets worse when I get contacted and bitched at for not being a good enough GM, which surprisingly has happened during this last week. I know that the player who sent me those messages was off-base in his attitudes but it still doesn't take the sting away. I work hard enough on this shit. I wish people would be respectful or at least stop nagging me.
I know it's not for a long time, but after Starpath, I want to do another RP that's more free-form, involving the occult and witches, two of my favorite fantasy subjects. No more battle system, just loose rules and simple D10 rolls like SSCRP. I'd want to focus more on the flavor text and the atmosphere of the story, as I'm constantly worried that Starpath is becoming too bland/generic.
Yo, you shouldn't worry. I think, alongside most of the Starpath participants, that you've done awesome work so far as the GM.
And while it's a tad complicated, the battle system you developed actually makes sense since a standard roll more or less ignores all the other variables such as skills and training of the characters.
Besides, we all know RL stuff comes first. Don't worry.
Okay so.
Poll time.
I'm going to head up a new roleplay. Not a nation style but something sort of like Sega is doing. It will probably use some form of D&D rules or something, with stats and all that jazzy jazz.
The poll is this. I have the basic framework, and I have artistic elements laid out for two different takes on a rough theme.
Scenario 1: Futuristic, party will play members of a group of colonists headed to a new planet, running from the destruction of Earth/Sol System. Sole survivors among 15,000 people aboard 3 ARK ships. (Vote Agree)
Scenario 2: Steampunk alt-world, party will play members of a group of colonists headed to a recently discovered landmass across an ocean. Fantasy/Steampunk theme, mid level industrial age. WWI era technology bordering on inter-war period. (Vote Zing)
