Any ongoing DnD sessions or character RPs that I could join? Thought I might as well ask here.
More the merrier in Mr Faces DND campaign I'm sure.
Welp I sent him a PM. Not sure how I'll do if there's voice chat, but I can probably build a character around my awkwardness.
Don't worry about it. RP is text anyway, as we rather not talk over each other all the time. You should be fine. I'll catch you up with what we have. Lawful good dragonborn paladin. Neutral good halfling bard. Chaotic good aasimir rogue. Some sort of good tiefling cleric. Basically, if you're evil you're fuckt
I'm sure you can still be lawful evil :v: hell, it'd add a neat dynamic to the group, as otherwise we're all goody two shoes [editline]12th October 2016[/editline] Also hit me up on steam if you want me to fill you in more
Christmas is coming up, and FP is sending out Christmas cards again. Same as last year, I'm gonna buy a card and put all our names on it. Rate this post agree if you wanna be included on the card by next Friday.
What do people generally prefer, fixed territory fill-in-paintable maps, or geographical maps with no fixed political borders?
I prefer fixed territorial fill-in so I can know at a quick glance what I own and what I border. Though, I think that applies more to real world maps. For fantasy maps where what is in a specific region can be made up on spot and so strict territory isn't a mandate to know (For example, can't start digging for coal in central London and discover coal, where as in a fantasy map, "go looking for coal in place X" can easily be exploited if the GM permits).

I was considering using something like voronoi or perlin noise to get some semblance of organic-looking sub areas, but they wouldnt match up with geographical things like mountains and rivers, so i'll have to spend a few days trying to match everything up for a better overall geographically based sub-territory map

I concur
i raise you from the dead as i wrote a lore for a scary as fuck human society
Âshërzer Deep in the cold, uncharted northern lands of the Hôrafolc Empire lie the Âshërzer humans, a supermassive tribal society of humans living near the cold north of the poles, renowned and feared for their extreme disregard of honor -- Often in war, the Âshërzer employ vile tactics, such as using their recently defeated, gored enemies as a means to terrorize future victims, impaling them on pikes and using them as sacrifice for their Giant-god Sîgmar, an amalgamation of long-dead Âshërzer warriors and giants living in the coldest peaks of the northern realms. In their hardest times, the Âshërzer call upon Sîgmar with a massive ritual known as the Scaterkrîe, or the Shadow’s Warcry. Calling upon all citizens, the dark shamans pray to a massive pile of bones, flesh and armor, whilst acolytes use large panels, orbiting the central platform and spreading skin shavings across the plateau. As the chants intensify, the acolytes drop their pallets and impale themselves with ritual daggers, surrendering their souls to their god Sîgmar, as the ritualistic crowd chants in unison to lure the ancient spirit forward -- With success, almost all of the time, their god answers with a loud screech, echoing through the distant plains, mountains and forests, shaking the earth, freezing over rivers. With this response, the crowd calls for Sîgmar to manifest, asking him to ‘awaken, take his axe and bring their brothers back from hell’. With the crescendo, the shaman himself commits suicide to call forward Sîgmar, who would let forward a second screech, raising all the bones, shaved skin and flesh to create a massive, 15-meter tall vessel to control, finally responding with a single phrase: ‘To war and to death, we fight and we die!’ With graves rumbling as the dead rise to fight for their people, Sîgmar and his soldiers would go to war, almost always overwhelming their enemies before the Giant-god returned to his frozen home in the ethereal plane. The Âshërzer are known to send their teenage-children out into the northern lands, completely alone, with the single order to bring back the hairs of a giant -- something which can be done peacefully or painfully. These hairs are then rolled up tightly against a horn which would be pierced through the successful teenager’s shoulder-skin to signify their strength. The Âshërzer absolutely despise Elves and consider their ability to harness magic heresy, citing that their giant-god Sîgmar would not allow such atrocities to be made. Currently, the Âshërzer control a large pocket in the northern area near the north pole of the world.
i also wrote a full ritual chant for this
Let it be known that on this day, I became golden.
All bow.
From now on, I'll have to get suggestions on what RPs should gain their own turn page. So, suggest what FPRP should get its own turn page.
It's that time again! With Fallout: The Old World finally receiving its own turn page, it is time for me to ask for your suggestions. Any FPRP with 5 or more turns can be suggested, whilst ongoing FPRPs need to have a decent amount of activity to be suggested.
I just came onto here for a quick peek from the HL2 RP on the Screenshot forum and ended up looking on the wiki Holy shit what the fuck is this? This is glorious! Where on earth do i start? Facepunch is gigantic, theres so many communities and activities

If you're looking for a game to join, Behind the Iron Curtain has openings, and I'm sure some others do.
I took a look and i'll start having a look at each thread to see what catches my fancy.

Where on earth do i start? Facepunch is gigantic, theres so many communities and activities
Keep in mind that this circle/group is separate from the screenshot forum RPs (even if some of us participate in both) and unlike the aforementioned subforum RPs listed here are purely forum- and textbased, not imagebased. RPs you can find here include nation RPs, character RPs and other mixes of the two.
Yeah i understand that, the only images used are ethier for the image-RPs Images of characters for profiles or country/faction flags etc. I've RPed before thankfully
I have never heard of an image-based RP before, what is that?
Oh my word, its really, really fun. Basically, its like text based RP but instead of walls of text you show your actions via gmod screenshots. https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1542226 Heres the one thats currently running. If you're more in the mood for something more realistic or at least not HL2, head to Espionage Wars.
I have never heard of an image-based RP before, what is that?
Currently we have Espionage Wars (not really related to espionage though) and Lambda Wars (check Piggo's link), both of which center around global conflicts (former in a near-future world populated with PMCs etc. while the latter is set in the Half Life 2 universe) where each players has their own faction(s) to represent them. You interact with other player by going to war, sabotaging, making alliances etc. (You do this by creating scenes in Garry's Mod/Source Filmmaker which you then turn into screenshots that you post.) It's really up to what you want to do based on personal preferences. There's also some other dead threads which followed the same concept such as Interstellar Wars (doens't need explaining) and World Divided (post-apoc).
To my MS Paint brothers who have lacked a home since 2015, rejoice! Creationism Corner is coming back!
So, in my free time I thought I'd try to set up a Hybrid RP to try and bring both Nation and Character together in one thread. Rather ambiguously. The Premise so far: The world has been affected by an even known as the "Great Shift" Land has sunk and risen as well as a dramatically risen sea level This event has turned land based technology back to the late 18 hundreds whilst seafaring tech has been turned back to 16-17 hundreds with most of the worlds border rendered obsolete with the shift in land new empires have risen, representing the continents Africa, Europe, America, Asia (this isn't entirely worked out yet and can be expanded or modified) How ever a new archipelago known as the Atlantis archipelago has risen out of the Atlantic ocean the empire from around the world use their now equalized playing field to lay claim to the riches of these new islands and territories boom, the second golden age of sails The playing would be, each player can opt to serve either as Loyalist, Sympathizer or independent to the powers meaning in the Service to a specific Navy, privateer or pirate / otherwise independent this is very much on the drawingboard, but I could envision the sea battles, traveling, news spread and intelligence would be divided up into turns which the gm has control over whilst the thread could otherwise be driven along with personal interactions of the ships captains if docked or negotiating Each player will take control of their own captain as their character if they are privateers or pirates they would fly their own colors and if they are navy they will fly their navy's color Example the object of the game would be something along the line of controlling trade routes and harrassing opposing players and their factions to master Atlantis As I've said, it is VERY much work in progress, but I wanted to hear your thoughts. More importantly, I'd like to hear from each community what parts of their respective RP they like the best and would be interested in seeing implemented in Masters of Atlantis: A Second Age of Sails RP
For those unaware (I mean how would be), posts in Fast Threads no longer count towards one's post count. Whilst the reason why this was done is understandable, it has unfortunately hit our community in a big way, as we generally work on our content quite heavily to make sure it is of the highest of standards. However, our cries of being lumped in with the shitpost threads, Hezzy has moved some select number of threads.... to Games in Progress! Going from FT to GiP means that we'll be squatting an effectively dead sub-forum, sitting alongside the server threads. This has been a public service message.
What does post count matter in RPs? I don't understand what's going on
What does post count matter in RPs? I don't understand what's going on
It was mostly a matter of principle. The mods treated the new policy like it was a penalty against junk posts and the shitposters who post them, and even though everyone knows that the RP community is better than that, some of the staff still wanted to treat our work like it's junk out of sheer convenience. Postal actually described it as "collateral damage." Hezzy actually went through the trouble of moving our threads so that we'd be exempt from the policy, which made the policy a lot more fair.
Shouldn't this thread be moved as well, then?
Shouldn't this thread be moved as well, then?
With our move to Games in Progress, we have effectively moved to a less-frequently visited section of the site. The presence of the General Chat thread here will allow us some visibility, though I personally think the title should be changed to say "Roleplaying in Games in Progress" instead of "Let's Talk About Roleplaying".
