Metro Series Megathread - "The Dark Ones will kill us all."

I don't know if there's been a fix for this yet or not, but I can't find anything about it.
When I try to load the 2033 Redux, it gives me a "missing executable" error. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling (it only installs 150mb), verifying game cache, and deleting the appcache folder, but nothing's worked. Any help?
I wasn't expecting much from the beginning. But after seeing the same crappy shadows I was like "MY GAWD Y THEY NO FIX THESE?" I mean if graphics were the "only" thing they improved then I would expect them to actually fix stuff that was broken before.
They really should have made the REDUX later. It's not that 20€ for both games was a bad price just a bit unnecessary purchase.
To be fair, its obvious the Redux was made for the next-gen consoles in mind, the PC version is really nothing more than a bonus; while I am not happy with everything, I am very pleased with 2033 Redux, as it does feel like a very well done upgrade despite some issues that I personally have not noticed.
I think they should have waited a bit, but I think its also obvious it was for next-gen; why wait to cash in on that?

I think the one of the things that pisses me off graphically though is that no one has any facial animations.

yeah, it was definitely intended for the new consoles. it's the only thing they showcased as well. I just wish they'd have taken the time to refine the existing game play rather than just tossing new stuff into the mix. proper facial animations would be a thing that'd be very appreciated

Yeah, it just surprises me that somethings like that weren't a focus, or like how 2033 intentionally only got a small handful of weapons from Last Light. Its small things, but they keep adding up. I hate too that they said something like "Full body animation" but there was no full body, like now I know they meant that two non first person cut scenes are now first person in Metro 2033 but that is some really bad wording.:zoid:

Yes, of course. Redux was indeed a great decision from the console perspective.
So I decided to play Metro 2033 Redux and, being the first time i'd ever played it, I decided to play on Ranger Hardcore mode, because I ain't no pussy.
Nobody told me it removed button prompts during QTEs when monsters jump on your face and shit, so it's a 50/50 whether I die or not when that happens because I just sort of mash V, E, C and LMB to try and use/melee/shoot it/knife it, since i'm not really sure what i'm supposed to be doing.. Anyway, i'm stuck waiting for the gate to open at Riga station when you have to fend off the monsters, I have 6 shots in my revolver, and that terrible double barrelled shotgun which doesn't reload fast enough to be viable in any way.
Did I make a mistake starting on Ranger Hardcore?
not for nothing, but the game tells you that there are no hud icons or anything because muh immersion.
What bothers me the most in Metro Redux... is that, they didn't bother FIX the DAMN conversations.
You can hear Soldiers from entrance at the end of the market. Or If you quickly pass everyone and go to specific place, you can still hear them, through the fucking walls!
Some of my complaints when it comes down to both Metro 2033 and Last Light Redux.
They haven't bothered to change how the player casts shadows, it's jumpy and usually looks weird, sometimes when you're holding nothing your shadow has you in the gun holding pose, while there's no shadow of a gun, meaning even your shadow is holding nothing.
Very High and High settings differ in how, Very High has some disgusting over the top phong effect to everything, I mean seriously, it's really noticeable in Last Light Redux, namely at the start when Khan is talking to you, regular Last Light on Very High didn't have this, they only added it in the Redux, for some unknown reason.
Little nit picking one here but when the camera is going down the subway when Last Light starts up, in the regular version, the logo for Metro Last Light wasn't really visible until the big light switched on and shined on the door, in Redux, it's visible and the light pretty much does fuck all, it just switches on and you barely even notice a difference in the brightness.

Oh and then there was this that only ever happened in 2033 Redux.

Just got through the big battle area with the Reds and Nazis in 2033 Redux. I think I may have snuck through it too fast, already on the armored car part after, feels like I missed half the level. :v:
So can you check your ammo and stuff on ranger hardcore?

Open your journel and look at it, your inventory pops up. I would have liked some sort of more interesting method of it, but that would be a lot of work. Being able to some how see it on your person would be awesome but that'd be a tough job to integrate. Basically it's just a grey inventory overlay like normal.
Was the Hunter entrance super ugly for anyone else? The background was blocky as shit and made Hunter look like a PS1 model with him being blocky as fuck.

That looks like a problem with the volumetrics rather than the model itself.

Same happened to me. Tried both high and very high settings, but it was shit on both.

Yeah I know he looked normal when not in that scene.
No idea why it happened, have had no other problems.

Christ I don't remember them being THAT bad.
Finished 2033 and now playing through Last light, and fuck me I'm a little pissed that I didn't play this previously.
The atmosphere in these games is fucking fantastic. Although that being said the illusion of atmosphere keeps on getting broken with dodgy bugs and ragdolls.
I want to know why exactly Artyom feels the need to put on the night vision goggles anytime anything happens.
Getting into a turret on a car? Better put on night vision goggles! Who cares if I just turned my flashlight on.
Going to pass out due to anomaly winds blowing past me? My night vision goggles will save me!

Wait, what? Arytom never put on NVGs in my playthrough.

I'm having the same bug, the only way to play the game and understand what's happening in cutscenes is to drain your battery before starting a cutscene.
Hopefully a patch will be made soon, and I won't be buying it until then because holy fuck these are ridiculous.

Eh, I wouldn't let that kinda stuff scare you off. They're still FANTASTIC games and these are still the best way to play them, just gotta deal with a couple hitches for a bit, I still think they were worth my money 100%.

I think its specific to certain people, because aside from the crash on start bug that was fixed day 3 of release, my playthrough was damn near flawless.
has anybody here played it on the next-gen consoles?
has anybody here played it on the next-gen consoles?
Yeah, I got it on PS4. It's 1080p and a very stable 60fps, and it looks pretty fucking good.
The main problem is the fov is lower than all fuck, so if you get bad motion sickness it might be unplayable. I can somewhat get used to a low fov so it's okay for me but it would be a major deciding factor on whether you like the game or not.
I might do another 2033 Redux playthrough on Hardcore or something after I finish up Ranger Hardcore. I like the idea of Ranger mode, but in practice it's annoying to not be able to tell if I can pick things up or activate them, etc. Does Ranger Easy leave that stuff in, or do you just have to go down to Hardcore?

Ranger normal leaves the QTE buttons in. Except for picking things up and all the rest no hud.

Xbone here. Obviously PS4 has better resolution than the One but other than that I only came across one problem and that was Khan glitching out on the car ride in 2033 for less than a second and I haven't had a problem since.

Never had an FPS drop either.
