Played on Survival RangerHard core, really goes to show still how blind they are even on Ranger hardcore
So fucking dissapointing.
Anyone know if the stealth & armor suits can still be purchased in 2033?
I just passed the Armory part and there were no suits to be bought anywhere. Putting on the overcoat that Andrew the Blacksmith gives you also changes your hands/gloves, but it doesn't seem to do anything other than be cosmetic.
But to make for this, they made everything more expensive. I had about 150~180 MGR's in both the original and Redux version, where in the original I could get 1 suit and buy a decent gun, but in the Redux, even after selling all my other ammo I only managed to buy a Helsing with a 2x scope (the other stuff wasn't worth it for me, at least).
I've found like 3 keys but no locks yet.
I've found two so far. There's one in a [sp]side tunnel you can check out while first walking with Bourbon (before your first encounter with bandits)[/sp] and another can be found if you [sp]go down the ladder and into a side room in the area right before you enter the Market[/sp].
Also, maybe it's just cause I played through 2033 about 4 times beforehand, but does anyone else still prefer the original to this version? I've only just reached the Dead City, but the original felt much more like a survival-horror game then this, where it feels a lot more action-y, even in the Survival mode.
The lighting looks a lot brighter in 2033 Redux from what I can tell in the screenshots, so it probably loses a lot of the horror vibe that way. Maybe a SweetFX or something can turn it back down?
Global Illumination would be the cause of that.
Global Illumination would be the cause of that.
But there's also some sections where they added lamps/lights/etc where they weren't before. Dry Station [sp]has a light in the main room that gets turned on if the Bandits find out that you're there.[/sp]
It's not an important spoiler, I just want people who're going from the original versions to the Redux versions to enjoy the changes in level design on their own.
Game is literally running smooth as butter maxed out, I'm so surprised at the performance.
Good to hear, where did they say that?
Said on the steam forum, would be released today. So we just got to wait until its updated.
I'm having an issue. Artyom seems to have forgotten how to pick up guns, so I can't progress in 2033 redux when I'm supposed to get my gear at the armory. I've restarted the game and started from scratch, yet Artyom still doesn't understand how to pick up guns

Press and hold "e" or whatever your "use" key is. It used to be you jut press use, but now for some reason you have to hold it.
Was loading screen music in the original 2033? They're in the Redux and I don't remember since it's been four years.
I just got out of the metro for the first time and why is everything so... bright and shiny? If it is because of the global illumination I really hope they patch an option in the game to disable, or at least mod it out it looks like shit, it gets rid of the gritty and dark feeling the original had.
And even on survival mode ranger hardcore the stealth is a joke just like in LL, I remember 2033 being way harder other than stealth wise. Even the HUD is still complete shit on hardcore with even QTE being invisible, I liked the hardcore in the original because of how hard it was and it got rid of the HUD but you could still check all your supplies by holding down a button. They also even apparently removed a bunch of graphical effects as well.
Fuck I'm disappointed with this, I guess the new textures and lighting is nice? Sucks I really can't say much good about this.
I never played the metro games before, and I recently started playing 2033 redux on my PS4. Damn I was missing out. This game is damn good.
What is the update? are there any changelogs?

was this in the original game?
Wasn't it said somewhere that you'll be able to pick whether to use the old watch or the new watch in 2033 redux? The new watch is fine, but it clips through the sleeves on the viewmodel arms you have at the start of 2033.

Survival Mode - Old Watch
Spartan Mode - New Watch
What's up with this 2 weapon limit? Is it only in survival or something?
aww what? I can't choose what watches to use? I was thinking of replaying the game but the old watch is so cool, I would constantly look at my watch to see it tick away.

That's a ranger thing.
What's up with this 2 weapon limit? Is it only in survival or something?
you could carry more than two weapons? :v:
Is there some bug in 2033 redux or something that causes viewmodel sleeves to not change? I'm at the outside part and I still have the same basic green sleeves with no watch from the beginning of the game and I'm certain that you didn't have that anymore at that time in the original.
you could carry more than two weapons? :v:
Yeah, I played 2033 on Ranger Normal and you could carry a revolver, an automatic weapon, and either a shotgun or a pneumatic or a crossbow.
Starting from Metro Last Light being on a Ranger difficulty limits you to 2 weapons.
Starting from Metro Last Light being on a Ranger difficulty limits you to 2 weapons.
Alright, thanks. Kind of gives the revolver the short end of the stick, but that's just my opinion.
Another thing - didn't they say the Redux was meant to run better than M.2033? It's running significantly worse for me.
Is it me or the game looks like an ass when SSA isnt at X2?, it looks VERY blurry when its disabled but as soon i put it on X2 everything looks very defined, it hurts a lot my framerate tho

Is your SSAA turned off or on 0.5x? If it's on 0.5x it's actually lowering the game's internal rendering resolution by 50% in relation to your display resolution (0.5x is there mostly as a performance boost option without making players actually lower their display resolution). If it's only turned off it should render the game the same as your display resolution. SSAA is Supersampling and is pretty much an spatial anti-aliasing method multiplies the game's internal rendering resolution proportional to your display resolution. Let's say your playing at 1920x1080, and you put SSAA at 2x, this basically makes the game's rendering resolution to something like 3840x2160 and downsample it to your current display resolution. So yeah it's a pretty demanding setting and requires a bit of a beast rig.
If it is just turned off, I'm gonna guess that's the 4A Engine's default post-process anti-aliasing method (which was something similar to FXAA iirc) and guessing you notice the blurring from the post-processing more. Looks fine to imho @ 1920x1080, are you running on a relatively low resolution by any chance e.g. 1366x768?
Several days since the game launched in US and now in EU and it still aint working. Just tries to launch and nothing happens at all. Reinstalled three times, reinstalled driver, reinstalled windows. Nothing works..
Played 2033 Redux up to the first bandit encounter with Bourbon, very very pleased with the game so far!
Got home from work and fired up my pre-loaded metro 2033 for my metro marathon.
I'm seeing nice additional detail in the intro, I hope there is more to come. I'm also playing on Russian with Eng subs and I'm disappointed to see that only the 'main' dialogue has subs. Most of the background chatter, which makes up about 75% of all the game's dialogue is not translated. Kind of a major flaw for me.
But I can now check my inventory in hardcore. Don't know about ranger hardcore though.
