Trying to become a better support, had a pretty nuts round during placements and decided to upload it. If anyone plays Mercy mind skimming the video and offering any advice that might help? [sp]Aside from stop playing the console version ;_;[/sp] Starts near the tail end of the enemy teams round. We just barely got to the end on ours and then we got steam rolled pretty bad.
General: Maybe I'm just a ballsy support but I'm noticing a lot of time where you're in a position to heal people but you don't go for it. Exploit your flight more often when getting out of situations. General: Try to prioritize targets currently in combat. 2:31 - you should've kept healing pharrah. it's tempting to pistolwhip a winston but you could've done a lot more if you kept healing the phararh 3:37 - Again, you're using your pistol too much when there are teammates with low health within range of you. While you've had some moments where it was good to use your pistol, it would've been better to heal other heros since they do more damage than you. 5:55 - Don't be afraid to 2 man res people, especially when being attacked. Your ult actually gives you invulnerability for a short period. 7:20 - When you get stuck in a mei blizzard, check if there are people behind you that you can fly to escape 13:00 - <pistol complaint here while 1 of your teammates was at critical health>. It's fine because your teammate didn't die. Also congrats, while watching your video, my ear infection cured itself and now I finally ear with both ears after like 1 week. Try to make rounds around your teammates, making sure everyone's health is topped up while mostly sticking to your Pharah for air support. If you see an enemy ambushing a teammate, don't pull out your pistol and shoot 'em, just keep healing your teammate to extend their vitality and let them take care of the enemy. If they start targeting you instead, don't be afraid to fly away to another teammate to escape. You can always fly back to the other teammate when your health has recovered. The pistol's really only there as a last resort if you end up alone with no way to flee.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/2NqFvvq.jpg[/t] FUCK YEAH [editline]3rd June 2017[/editline] I know this is pennies compared to some of you diamond+ players, but as someone who literally just bought the game, even being above curve means so much more.
I've been grinding 2-3 levels a day for the event lootboxes and it finally payed off, got my favorite event skin(soldier)! Not pictured is the Mei beekeeper skin I got a few days ago, forgot to screencap when I unboxed it. [t]http://i.imgur.com/wltgjRX.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/K93m1Rq.jpg[/t]
I had the strangest dream the other day. It was a normal match on Dorado, and I was playing Mercy for god knows why. But as it turns out they merged Mercy and Symmetra. Caduceus staff could now damage players (and had ammo, even while healing people.) She also could fly to enemies to just melt them. But by far the strangest thing about this dream was that Orisa was French instead of Widowmaker.
Lost a game because we had a bastion on koth. Despite our team working hard to play around him, he continuously refused to play around our barriers and didn't use voice comms. Why are people like this?
In competitive, we had a torb on attack on Numbani. He picked torb because he just wanted to lose and 'get it over with'. Everyone gave him shit for it. We ended up winning.
Yesterday in comp I had a team on Gibraltar (defense) where some guy wanted to play Hanzo and people kept asking him to switch. So instead what he did was switch to Sombra and just hid behind the enemy spawn for the entire round and stayed AFK, occasionally moving around in place to avoid getting kicked. "You won't let me play what I want, so I'm gonna' throw the game." :unimpressed: We somehow ended up winning the round without him and he finally decided to jump back in for the second and third rounds because I guess he didn't like feeling left out and we won the game. :v:
I don't think arcade actually has its own skill based matchmaking. It's just a free-for-all on all the people that are waiting in queue.
somehow i doubt this. ive waited 3+ minutes for a queue in random hero and got placed with the same fuckers I had tried to get away from minutes before. I highly doubt it was just us 12 people playing at that particular time.
when i say "dead" i dont mean in player count. when was the last time valve added anything meaningful to it outside of hats? the only thing ive heard is a competitive mode that somehow was made to be worse than overwatch's. valve dropped adding TF2 content in favor of the bigger cash cows (CS:GO and DOTA) [editline]2nd June 2017[/editline] they also had something special going with MvM, which was a way better PvE mode than overwatch could ever hope to do. but again they dropped the ball and havent added anything to it since two cities. i used to admin a MvM server that had tons of community maps and would get lots of people. it was the most fun in TF2 i had in years, and im sure some additional official MvM updates would have been great too.
TF2 is almost 10 years old. The amount of support it has gotten over the years is astonishing and not a single developer comes close to what Valve has given it (when you ignore the hat/lootboxes stuff). Already 3 Years in, back in 2010, the game had received 4 times its content than it had on its original release. It continued to get more content till 2015.

But that won't stop people bitching that Valve abandoned it.
TF2 has had an unprecedented amount of post release support as far as multiplayer shooters go. At some point you gotta come upfront and tell people when support for the game will stop. They got themselves into this the moment they decided on this business model, and I hope Blizzard is better than Valve on this regard (although that's setting the bar so low it practically touches the ground)
Thank You Nidhogg and ROFLBURGER. Will take what you dudes said into consideration next time I play. I guess part of the reason why I pistol so much is that I got it in my head that I should be saving teammates that way as well due to my lack of mic and being unable to do call-outs. Still though, noted.
I'd kill for Overwatch to have something like Forge for custom games
So far I've only had 1 event skin and 1 dance emote drop, the rest have been player icons and sprays out of about ~14 boxes. Seriously, tying this to be "event exclusive" is a huge dick move for an anniversary.

It was super late, light on anything substantial, and was also mega broken. With it came the promise of future updates to balance the game (In a year, there's been 0) and that there will be future 'packs' for the classes... again. They went out of their way to skip yearly traditions because "A big update is around the corner guys!!!" And nothing. The game needs substantial balance changes, and you can't hold them off for even a fraction of the time they've taken, which, you know, should have been a fucking priority after releasing a COMPETITIVE MODE. I would not mind if they fixed up TF2 and 'retired' it, but they've done neither and have only sorta pretended that it's alive, especially with a team of well over a dozen people. It feels dishonest and gross, especially when it happens to a game I used to absolutely adore.

Got Genji's Sentai skin after earning a quad kill PotG with the dash alone. Guess I'll be playing more of him. :v:

Why the dances, blizzard? Why tie the dances to the event? You didn't tie the sits or laughs to the event, you fuckers. "For the fans" my ass.
Valve never abandoned tf2. There's been a dry spell but this summer they're releasing, in their own words, "one of the biggest tf2 updates ever", including big balance and quality of life improvements for pyro, new weapons and maps, improvements to the (admittedly quite garbage atm) competitive mode, and possibly a new animated short. I'm not going to pretend like there hasn't been a whole lot of nothing in 2016, but that doesn't mean it's been abandoned. Anybody actually paying attention to what valve has said should know that it's anything but abandoned. I will say that I think the whole attempt at a competitive mode was a mistake. It's pretty clear that they're not able to support something like that with the team they have working on it.
Arcade modes in general are starting to get on my nerves, to be honest. And it doesn't help that I play Overwatch far less often than what I was used to, so the few times I do I'm farming Arcade matches with my posse because we want to unlock the extra boxes. With the sole exception of Mystery Heroes-like modes and No Limits, all these modes have a strong meta of their own, to the point that i find myself playing the same heroes over and over again without respite (the first examples who come to mind are Roadhog as far as 3vs3 is concerned and Winston, D.Va and Torbjorn for Capture the Flag), and get stomped if I don't. Honestly, I'd really prefer to hang around quick match every time I log into the game: since I nearly play all the heroes, I pick up the first hero the game offers me for selection and have a blast in the following match (unless I really need to switch for something more practical or a hero I actually know how to play)
I feel like weekly missions similar to that of TF2s contracts would work better instead of arcade lootbox rewards

Why are you talking about TF2 in an Overwatch thread? I thought people stopped compairing them already.
I may lag a bit
I defeated Mercy Also first time I've had someone pop off for me :v:

Finally got a legendary event skin, and it's Jazzy Lucio, hell the fuck yeah
i wish i could actually quit but i like the idea of a team based shooter too much to do so. TF2 is fucking dead and left to rot by valve, and overwatch is the closest thing that comes close to being in the same catergory. [editline]2nd June 2017[/editline] i also sold literally everything in my backpack when i quit TF2 and made like $100 so
Dirty Bomb is a gr8 team shooter. It has replaced overwatch for me for quite some time.
FINALLY got an anniversary skin, and it's the Lucio one I've been wanting! Woooo!
