Overwatch - It's Actually a Trick To Make Everyone Play HotS, also BUY

Is nice to the game to decide to update being to close to the win of the day to reset and losing your extra experience for not playing before.
I might be in a damn car that entire weekend shit
It's almost like that couldn't have already been a thing since the start of the event
Or prior events for that matter
Just finished my placement matches and I was placed unusually low, like the 2100's. I've never had that low of an SR before, so what gives? I've placed in the 2500's or higher every single season 'till now.
Back where I rightfully belong.
Double XP events are PR speak for "Player numbers are slightly down oh god please play our game."
Double XP events are PR speak for "Player numbers are slightly down oh god please play our game."
You mean that isn't a major reason behind the events?
You mean that isn't a major reason behind the events?
i'd imagine the events are like candy
during the time its like a sugar rush, so many people.
then after its just a crash

this double xp weekend is most definitely because of the backlash blizzard's been taking because of the anniversary event, not to mention there was a top post that made it to /r/all on the overwatch subreddit that was asking for a double xp weekend about a week ago.
Why can I not for the life of me wrap my head around how to play Genji right
I feel like I need to be doing three or more things at once, at almost all times, and there's always something I forget to do (like use deflect or dash)

That's what happens when base game lootboxes are never updated. Why waste your levels on normal lootboxes with stuff from a year ago when in 3 weeks another event will start

So that way you can stock up on meagre amounts of coins to buy a skin with, good customer!
a quality of life improvement would be to add daily missions like HOTS has. play a tank for x amount of games, play a healer for x amount of games, play an offensive/defensive hero for x amount of games. itd be a way to get more coins along with getting people into roles that people usually dont like to play.
Don't make it like most games with challenges where it actually hinders your ability to play and therefor hinders your team's ability to play.
"Fuck off guys I need to do this daily challenge where I get 10 fatal headshots as widowmaker, i don't care if we're on offense and we don't have a tank"

As much I like the idea I would rather not, game like Hearthstone and HotS already have daily quest and I have to look for a free time to complete said quests, I don't want to another game to "control" my life and ignoring a quest also makes me miss an opportunity to get closer to an item I want.
Want to make the events require less grind? Give us an option to re-roll, duplicated event items should give more coins, event loot boxes should give at least 2 event items. Put that all in there and you will have coins faster to use in events plus being able to re-roll those pesky "3 white 1 blue" loot boxes when you have spare coins to burn.
Alternatively make the loot boxes cheaper to buy because $40 for 50 loot boxes is a bit silly but who cares since only people with money will buy it and won't care and that would mean less money for Blizzard, which means less free content, which means less events to "celebrate" what a great community this game have by grinding more.

Rainbow Six Siege has an alright way of doing it. For the most part, it's "get 10 kills on defense" or "get 10 kills on offense."
They just have to make challenges broad enough to where they can't change the flow of gameplay in a negative way. Like
Play 8 games
Level up 3 times
Have 5 mins in objective time.
Capture the objective 10 times.

Siege challenges are mostly easy but at least it's a way to get the in-game currency without having to buy their loot boxes.
And even still, on the test servers they're already doing their loot better than Overwatch, by allowing loot to be dropped based on how many games you play and if you win the game. PLUS you can buy them with the in-game currency. At this point Blizzard is either stupid or simply just milking the cash.

That would be good to get people to practice on rolls outside of their norm.
More examples of things like this that would help would be dirty bomb's "mission's" or whatever you would call them.
I dunno, I'd be happy with the ability to just select what type of lootbox I want mine to be, and the pool would just be the basic stuff plus whatever event you select.
They could make weekly missions more specific and elaborate if they only require you to complete some of them to get some kind of reward. Like, say, you're assigned the following five:
- Get 10 headshot eliminations as an Offense character
- Perform an emote while on the objective
- Shut down three ultimates as a Defense character
- Use your ultimate to assist another ultimate
- Surpass your career best blocking as a Tank character
Each one you complete gives you a sizable EXP reward right away, and in addition to that, completing three before the week ends gets you a free loot box, and doing all five gives you three of them.
[editline]6th June 2017[/editline]
Even if you can only manage one, you still get a good chunk of EXP (2000+), so it never feels like you're putting in effort and getting nothing back; you always get something for your time, as long as you actually try.

the problem with these specific objectives is that you're just telling people to fuck around in-game to selfishly complete their own missions instead of you know, playing as a team and winning.
[editline]7th June 2017[/editline]
that's why if they do put in missions into the game it has to be general, like "get 3 eliminations" or "play 5 games"
I'm fine with the overwatch characters, setting and dialogue (most of the time). No idea where all this sudden hate came from
its the facepunch Overwatch thread. All it takes is one person to go off about some aspect they "hate" and then everyone else hops on the train regurgitating the same rephrased ideas. Happens all the time which is annoying because it turns from 70+ posts of discussion to 70+ posts of I agree but let me word it my way

for eliminations, it could be something along the lines of "get 3 eliminations or 5 assists" that way it doesn't prevent people from playing support.

Careful with that though. Make them too generic, and people will start seeing them as a punishment if they fail instead of a reward if they succeed.
Sounds counter-intuitive, but missing out on something deemed "easy" because you're too busy this week feels awful. It fuels dependency behaviors without actually being satisfying.
[editline]t[/editline]
Devs often miss the psychological ramifications of systems like this, how they make a player feel if they succeed or fail, and mishandling of reward systems is one of the biggest sources of game dependency.
Overwatch already has some serious red flags in this regard, it doesn't need more of them.
Why does 1v1 say that only Lucio isn't allowed yet there is a lot of heroes that are not allowed.
Like it seems like the only tanks are Roadhog and Orisa.

because 1v1, especially with the new system, is garbage.
This game really isn't built for 1v1 at all

I thought the new 1v1s were an improvement.
I thought the new 1v1s were an improvement.
there's no reason at all to NOT pick a self-healing hero, not to mention the sets of 3 heroes are pre-determined sets, not randomized, and it's entirely possible to get a single hero every single round.
[editline]7th June 2017[/editline]
3v3 was an improvement, but 1v1 went down the drain.
