Overwatch - It's Actually a Trick To Make Everyone Play HotS, also BUY

The last few days I've been telling myself "Oh I better play some Overwatch, gotta get those new skins before the event is over" and now I couldn't give less of a shit
I just have no interest in playing anymore, at least until the next event comes round and I get back into it and then subsequently get mad at it again
I really do believe they fucked with drop rates for this event. And this one specifically the most because they knew people wanted lore skins.
Like with past events if you got a legendary it was almost guaranteed it would be an event skin. But this event seems like you have a greater chance of getting a non-event legendary instead and an even greater chance of it being a duplicate. They even padded the items list with more voice lines then normal to make it less likely the legendary is going to be the event item.
I kept tabs on what legendaries dropped for me over the course of the event as well as loot boxes opened.
I started the event at level 178 and finished it at 229, that's 51 loot boxes opened.
In order these were my legendary drops over the course of those 51 loot boxes:
Ironclad (event torb)
Punk (non event tracer)
500 coins
junker (non event d.va)
combat medic (event mercy)
undersea (non event winston)
vigilante (non event mccree)
null sector (event orisa)
arctic (non event zarya)
combat medic (event mercy)
null sector (event orisa)
500 coins
Out of 12 legendary drops, 5 were event related. Out of those 5, 2 were dupes. It's also worth noting that I never got the event bastion or reinhardt skin drops either.

I seem to be noticing a trend about this game. As great as Overwatch is. It seems like the devs have made the game to where its not really worth playing when there isn't an event going on. On top of nothing new in the non-event loot boxes ever. People get so burnt out on playing Overwatch during events because of grinding for lootboxes that they don't even want to touch the game for awhile. And that "for awhile" usually means not till the next event where its worth it to open lootboxes again. And then the cycle continues.
I love the genjis who refuse to switch despite getting roasted on by a Winston each and every time
It's must be frustrating to Blizzard knowing you created a game "balanced" around the idea of changing classes constantly to gain the upper hand to only have a good sized group of people spend their 1,000 hours playing a single character.
I know it means literally nothing but I just find it funny that you can do a get 4 gold medals, a full 6 man team kill PotG complete with some sort of fitting spray or emote, steamroll the whole game for your team, and Mercy gets the commendation just for being healer 'cause ya gotta upvote your healers :v:
Hey guys, anyone want to group up for the HoTS thing quickly?
I figure I'll do some last-minute grinding tonight/tomorrow morning, but man I'm disappointed. I only got a single Event Legendary and maybe 3 Purples, (compared to all the last events where I made out like a robber-baron).
Really thinking they messed with the drop rates, it's a bit too coincidental that we're all having the same brand of shitty luck.
I guess i was more lucky this event than usual - i got all 2 epics and 4 legendaries (OR-14NS, Ironclad Torbjorn, Talon Widow and Combat Medic Mercy. Blackwatch McCree i'll buy on last day, so this can be counted as 5th), thanks to my brother with some help. I don't want to throw my money at my monitor, so i've got what i wanted and i guess i'm fine with this event. Maybe one-two more boxes tomorrow, but enough is enough.
I don't really care about my rank, but I play comp because I want to play full matches where people actually try to complete the objective and don't leave in the middle of a match.
I agree but because I'm in Bronze Hell people are still likely to leave or throw because they're "just messing around ;)" like idiots so I'm probably going to mostly sit out this season.
I'm fine with being low-ranked because I recognize I'm not that good but at least Silver isn't ELO hell

Just boot up HOTS, there's tons of people lfg in the main chat

I'm a hanzo main now
I did manage to get all purples but the Rein skin (Which adds to my suspicions of them making the lore skins harder to obtain then the nonlore items).
I wish the Young Hanzo skins kept some sort of facial hair. Everything about those designs is fucking 10/10 (in particular the bows) except for the heads.
anyone knows how many hours left on the event?
anyone knows how many hours left on the event?
I'd say 17 hours at least, that'd end it at 10:00 AM pacific time. Might go as late as 4-5 PM though, which would put it at ~24 hours.
Someone in comp thought I was a smurf. Should I take that as a compliment?

I put maybe 40 hours since the event. Yet to get a single event skin.

this is actually a question fit for a philosopher
it can mean that you're average and he's trash
it can mean that you're good and he's average
it can mean that you're in a lower skillrating than you should be
it can mean that he's in a higher bracket than he should be
it can mean that he thinks you have shit ethics but good at video games
someone get zenyatta on this please
I put maybe 40 hours since the event. Yet to get a single event skin.
I don't know how much time I wasted on it but I managed to get every one except the Widow one, which I don't really care about anyways.
Just gotta unlock all the voice lines etc with coins before the end, but some things like d.vas highlight intro are friggin expensive.
The rarest thing I've gotten from the entire event was Hanzo's emote. :excited:
Can we remove Roadhog from the game yet

stop fat shaming

Sadly the reinhart one was the only one I got :|
I put maybe 40 hours since the event. Yet to get a single event skin.
I've only got one so far from under a day or two of playing, and it's young man torb.
an ana player asking roadhog to be removed from the game is like peanutbutter asking jam to be removed from the sandwich
an ana player asking roadhog to be removed from the game is like peanutbutter asking jam to be removed from the sandwich
it's more like cancer asking for a cure for diabetes

This is so silly. There are plenty of people who play the game and just don't care for the skins. This particular Facepunch thread tends to center pretty... obsessively around skins, but consider that the vast majority of people aren't playing just to grind for lootboxes. Seriously, I've never met anyone outside of this thread that does that. All the power to you, you do you etc, but like... What do you do when you finally get the skins you want?
My latest loot box:

Maybe if I keep getting duplicated items I will eventually reach enough gold to afford Blackwatch McCree!
Also, I have been playing Uprising for too long as support that now bothers me not being able to see my team health in the corner of my HUD in the other modes :v:
-snip, wrong-

I like to say a big part of it is many of us are completionists in a game that they are purposely making it impossible to do so. But, we still think we can try anyway. Which makes us grind and grind and grind till we no longer even want to look at Overwatch anymore till the next event.
