Overwatch - It's Actually a Trick To Make Everyone Play HotS, also BUY

I'd like it if D.Va could DM Symmetra's shields. Might make that whole shield wall and ball combo less annoying.
While brainstorming a few random concepts for potentially fun mechanics in another game, the thought of a very interesting one came up at about the same time this group and I started playing Overwatch tonight...
... What if there was a character that had the ability to phase through solid objects? Not EVERY solid object, mind you, but let's say they can use their ability to walk through any wall that A: is less than the equivalent of about 18-24 inches thick, and B: has a floor on the other side, so you aren't just walking into the void or off a cliff.
The way I picture it, you can always tell when a wall can be phased through because these walls are always highlighted with a specific color or effect when you get close to them (like, say, rippling subtly like water), so there's no guesswork involved and you know your potential exit routes by sight alone. The ability itself would likely last between one and three seconds, so if tactically needed, you can walk through multiple walls in a row, or even pass right through an entire building like the ones on Route 66.
My question about all this is twofold: Do you guys think this could be a fun mechanic? And if so, do you guys think there would be a passive ability that would synergize well with this?

Functionally a character that could do this seems like they'd make for an incredibly effective scout or choke-breaker, since they can literally just bypass a portion of the enemy's defenses uncontested.
I mean, imagine being able to just casually stroll right through the barrier wall in Hanamura A, or Volskaya A. Due to that fact, they might have to be given one or more substantial drawbacks.

fuckin Jeff
I placed in Plat for the first time in two seasons. I do not have it in me to do that climb again.
120SR doesn't seem like much, but that fucking 2900 bracket feels like goddamned medieval dentistry.
Having a second account you play on is fine. New accounts very rapidly adjust to play at the proper skill level.

This is very exciting
It's refreshing to see a developer take the same "Yeah fuck those guys" stance that a playerbase majority do, and on non-obvious issues of play morality like throwing and boosting.
Unlike cheating, it's very hard for a developer to see the effects of poor sportsmanship without very, very closely monitoring the community and their views on it.
I see all these jokes about how easy it is to get to grand master as a Mercy without even trying. I must be worse then not even trying because only playing Mercy can't get me out of gold. :v:

They probably placed in diamond to begin with so they're not stuck in the shit-tier gold we're in.

To continue this idea, as brainstormed by another friend, what if this character was a sniper? Instead of standing in your own backline like Widow, they have the tools to position themselves behind the ENEMY.
Let's say, they have a hugely powerful, single-shot (lengthy reload between shots) railgun. It can only be fired while scoped, and has a visible targeting dot the enemy can see if they're looking for it, but when fully charged (hold LMB to charge, release to shoot) it can penetrate multiple enemies in a row, and even penetrate walls just like this character themselves can, though damage falloff applies and "wallbang" headshots aren't a thing.
That would IMO be a really interesting character to play, both in the freedom offered by the ability to, you know, ignore walls, and in the unique tactical options open to a character that works best when operating from far behind enemy lines.

That doesn't sound as fun to play against though.
I mean can you imagine the frustration you will get when you stand behind a wall, thinking you are safe and then BAM - you are dead.
Hanzo's ultimate works the same way you described, only it is very slow, has a noticeable sound and gives you enough time to react and hide.
Another thing is how would you even counter this character? He's hiding behind his team members AND behind walls, so there's no way of dealing with him. Widow at least needs to be visible for both the attacker and the attacked, but this character could be hiding throughout the game without any penalties by the sound of it.

I've played enough ctf that there are way too many cheese stuff to get the flag by just solo abilities, not including teamwork.

Sombra teleport > primal rage because it can be done at any point as long as you have someone to block incoming damage (winston, rein, mei wall, etc) and is instantaneous capture if done right.
Winston is by far the most obnoxious character in this game to fight against if I'm playing anybody but Reaper or Roadhog (and even then, if he's being healed it's just game over for fun). You're jumping around me? That's okay :) my weapon locks on. You're shooting at me? That's okay, bubble shield. You've almost killed me despite my obnoxious jumping around? Lol! Primal rage, I instantly get 1000 health :). Oh no! I'm almost dead again? That's okay! Jump away, haha.
He's just horribly annoying if the player is even halfway decent.
That's the whole point of Winston tbh. Bonus points if he's spamming SORRY ABOUT THAT

Get Junk's golden grenade launcher.
Go all golden balls or none of them.

i love booping him out of his shield as dva and then just constantly chasing him down with my guns till hes dead or running away and being useless
Tracer and Sombra are way more annoying than Winston to be honest.
At least with Winston, i feel "Yeah it's not bad getting some ult from him" since he's a big target but having Tracer bleeding you to death as well Sombra with her hacking\emp just makes me wish i had a 100% headshot rate against them.
Just finished played a game of competitive, our team lost and I went down 20 sr. Okay, no big deal.
So I start another game and we're on Eichenwald. Almost EXACTLY when the countdown reaches 0 my connection craps out. I come back on when my connection is back up and I've lost 50 sr and I've been suspended.
This sucks.
Nevermind 6v6 is worse than i thought. Instantly team splits everrlytime and now we have 3 elimination modes, great
I'd really like the next hero to be something anti-dive
The next hero is gonna be able to capture objectives even when its contested .
The next hero will immediately win the game when selected.

still not as good as prime Ana

What if doomfist has the ability to knock heroes back in a straight line or something. Kind of like a reverse hook.
