tumblr users are generally idiots especially the ones who try so hard to stay on their high horses
well I went and checked the D.Va tag and all I found was a bunch of police d.va fan art and people getting salty that people are getting salty over police d.va
as usual this seems to be a case of people making broad assumptions out of tumblr users because a few people on the website were stupid or trolling

A -lot- of people complained as soon as the skin came out, then after a while all of those people got buried by others calling them idiots. There's still a couple of posts with a lot of attention here and there.
It happens essentially every time anything gets added to the game, be it Lucio sprays where people somehow see them as being "whitewashed", or the last two Symmetra skins that came out.
It's best to just ignore them, though.
I love waking up and finding gold in my sub box.

That somehow happened to me.

what the heck is up with the japanese words spelled out in korean (and also mixed in with the korean)?
[editline]27th April 2017[/editline]
anyways, from googling the japanese words, i can fill it out to
"was it you that hit my little bird" approximately.
do you guys ever actually play the game or do you just complain about it 24/7
I try to keep my complaining towards the game itself to a minimum, but it's mainly the waifuing I can't stand.
except you don't need to worry about microtransactions at all unless you want every single skin every event but literally never play
majority of updates are to balance, add FREE maps, add FREE heroes, and add FREE events. they add skins so people can get them, and it's someone else's choice if they want to pay for a skin instead of playing the game for less than 5% of the time the event is actually active or just fucking playing the game the last 2 months of non event time to save gold
i am able to buy every single skin from the event and i've played maybe 9 hours total since the event started
you are complaining about them trying to run a game where they have expenses and trying to get money to pay developers, host servers, electric, hardware, testing, quality assurance
you guys complaining about a company who has had more than a quarter of a million people playing it monthly trying to make money to keep up with the demand of their game and it's fucking dumb
you can complain about microtransactions all you want but overwatch does not hinder you in this game at all for any reason whatsoever if you don't have a fucking skin
[editline]27th April 2017[/editline]
explain what is so bad about paying for lootboxes you can get for free
Your whole argument is negated by the fact Overwatch is not a free to play game, but a retail game.
The same applies about your talk about FREE (using capslock to make my arguments appear more substantial is cool) maps, the FREE heroes and the FREE events.
I think this is an important point to make because, when people were revolting about the summer crates case, Jeff Kaplan himself basically countered their argoment by saying that players recived a free hero (Ana) and a new map already out of the kind heart of the developers, so they didn't have any right to complain. Which, as much as I like Jeff, is total bullshit
[editline]Today[/editline]
I'd also like to add that I'm not in the camp that would like all the game's items to be awarded to players automatically, but one must recognize that Overwatch's RNG loot system does get infuriating at times, not to mention limiting the access to certain items only during certain small period of time, with very questionable reasoning behind Jeff's "I want to make certain items feel more rare", which is highly debatable
I personally love the fact that there exist actual rare skins that not just any random player can get ahold of, it feels more exclusive and while it can suck getting that Tobjorn legendary over and over when all you want is the Genji Blackwstch skin (me ffs) I don't at all agree with players who feel like they deserve the skin without spending gold/using RNG and get lucky
While you paid for the /initial/ game, that doesn't necessarily make you automatically entitled to anything new free skin that gets added in top on the game
I paid 40 god damn dollars, those heroes and maps were not free.
"But but you were only buying the base game not the updates!!!!"
Okay so D.Va is in Heroes of the Storm now, but in the Overwatch universe isn't she canonically a professional Starcraft player?
So now she's fighting with and alongside characters that she has played as in a game? Does she tell them at any point that they aren't real? Are the stacraft characters from a universe inside the game that d.va has been playing or from a whole different coincidentally similar universe?
[editline]27th April 2017[/editline]
this is like when one show will have characters watching another real life show on their television, and then later they have a crossover between the two shows and the in-show universe stops making sense
I don't think things that happen in Heroes of the Storm is canon.
"But but you were only buying the base game not the updates!!!!"
Is that not a valid argument?
Besides, it's not like they're lost to you, you just have to earn them through XP and if you really feel like you must have it, buy it with gold. It just means you're not as easily entitled to them as a lot of you seem to think you are
Come on guys, we are talking about the guys that made World of Warcraft, of course they won't push the grind-to-death-or-buy style! :v:
I'd rather skins not tied to a holiday be one's added to the general game content. Especially if they tie right into the lore of the game. If they keep like this you'll have like 20% of skins be gated. Kind of sucks buying a game knowing you're forced to luck out at the right time to get most items in said game.
I don't see how people are connecting "we don't want event tied items every update" to "give me all new items unlocked" We just don't like the idea of having more then half the items only being able to be unlocked during certain times of the year while base content is already starting to be lacking.
Someone release a blackwatch logo wallpaper if anyone wants
just let me buy coins? ? ? ? ? ? id happily pay like 5 bucks for 3k coins, not this gambling garbage
Why would they do that? Then you wouldn't buy 50 lootboxes to get the skin you want!
Yeah, he very rarely whistles the song from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly when he spawns. It's not new, but it's neat.
Limited events pay for free maps and heroes.
And there are a lot of free maps (three) and heroes (also three) that came out within a year since the game's release.
Yeah, it sucks that you can't really get everything without investing a lot of time and/or money, but that's reality. Personally, the fucking lore-related cosmetics shouldn't be available for a limited-time.
There's no reason for them being limited-time, and there's no reason Uprising should be a limited thing as well. It lays out groundwork for future PvE endeavours since that's actually the canon game-mode since it's re-living past experiences of Overwatch.
People wouldn't care about limited run events quite as much if it was balanced out with non-event content updates. Wouldn't it be nice to get 100+ new items and gamemodes not tied to an event? The standard lootbox pool has gotten stale because mostly everyone has gotten everything they wanted out of the non-event items. We are almost a year after release and the non-event lootbox pool has grown very little outside character releases. Lootboxes earned not during an event shouldn't just be "box to get coins for next event"
We only got like, two new permanent skins for Reinhardt lmao
It was two Rein skins and a laugh/sit emote for mostly everyone. Compared to the 500+ new event items.
On that note, they should really get around to making the laugh and sit emotes for Sombra and Orisa, but I guess they need more loot box money to do that.
I am expecting Blizzard to make them event locked items at this point.
I don't even care if they make every lore skin legendary and cost 1.5k as long as they are permanent to the game. Regular loot boxes would at least feel worth it and not just money farm for events.
I'd rather skins not tied to a holiday be one's added to the general game content. Especially if they tie right into the lore of the game. I really doubt these items are locked permanently.
What will probably happen is events roll around again, some new stuff is thrown in, with the old stuff available again.
Uprising is weird but there'll be more omnic events most likely.
No it isn't reality, it's arbitrary.
And they're not free. People paid for the game in anticipation of updates. If they sold it with the phrase "This is the game. There will be no future updates or patches, this is it." The game's sales would have died.
I feel bad for the people buying the game now and seeing half the game's content isn't unlockable.
