Yes. Events come back same time next year.
You can upgrade later at a much reduced price. There's occasionally sales on the Origins Edition.

They said that the seasonal/holiday events will repeat. Or at least that you can get the respective items at the same time next year; they probably won't bring back the Olympic theme of course but you should be able to get the items some time this summer.

I played a comp match where one guy sounded like he was 13-14 and he played a horrible Tracer, then switched to Sombra, then Widow, then Hanzo. For reference, everyone was plat. We lost really quickly.
Then literally the next game, another guy in my team sounded really young so I asked him. He said he was 12. I didn't have high hopes.
Turned out he played a good Mcree the whole match, and someone on the other team even said "that Mcree carried you guys".
EVERY FUCKING GAME.
I'm about to break 2300 then BAM!!! First game stomped by 6 stack, second game had a fucking aimbot on a 5 stack. This is the 17th time I get to 2300 and fall this season.
I want my fucking solo ranked damnit!

Just call the guys who make HotS skins. Apparently they love NGE because there's like 4+ color variations that are EVA 01 for different characters.

If by 'worked', you mean pissed off a fair amount of the HotS community by bringing in people who don't give a shit about the game at all just to lose games for skins, then sure it worked.
