Overwatch - It's Actually a Trick To Make Everyone Play HotS, also BUY

You know, if they would make that event legendaries cost something like 2k - i would totally okay with this. Dunno why they decided to triple the original price of items (and leave the duplicate prices for some unknown reason).
How come some of you dislike event exclusives so much?
I'm imagine those that stopped playing Team Fortress 2 because events became entirely crate based with maybe a weapon or two are upset Blizzard is making events entirely crate based.
At this point, it feels like it's only worth playing when an event is going on.
You only play the game to get items? I play it for fun.

man, I admire your enjoyment of difficult quests
I don't know how old this news is, I think it just broke yesterday, but figures I would share. Sources tell ESPN
Multiple sources said Blizzard is asking for a $20 million franchise fee for the league featuring its popular 2016 title, with prices escalating from there in larger markets such as New York and Los Angeles. However, following the $20 million buy-in, teams are not guaranteed revenue sharing until after 2021 and only if Blizzard meets certain criteria that sources did not disclose to ESPN. Additionally, sources said if a team sells its spot to another party, the league would receive 25 percent of the proceeds.
That would explain the bomb out of teams the other day.
Thought my old winstreak was complete luck, went and played on my main today and went up 137 SR in about an hour..

(note the loss where it dips, was the result of alcohog)
Sounds like Blizzard really shit the bed with that one. Or is this common with esports things?
A spot for League of LoL goes for about 2 million. From the looks of it, Blizzard is trying to woo big sports teams instead of competitive teams, which is why the first two teams are supposedly linked to the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots.

They are designed to tempt you into spending money or to grind, both of which things I hate.
You only play the game to get items? I play it for fun.
I could focus on playing for fun if trying to get the new items wasn't so stressful and demanding.
They make the items awesome for that reason specifically. I would have to stop wanting the items personally to be not tempted. I shouldn't have to deal with such dilemma in a full priced game.
Even if the game is fun and items good, this practice leads to frustration towards the entire experience.
I am actually using the coins on the voicelines and the sprays, i think i am getting coins faster when i get dupes.
I should've done that when i was at lvl 1. I'd most likely get a lot of coins by that point.
I play it for fun.
Must be playing a different game then.
There was really no logical reason for the Uprising skins to be tied to an event. Holiday skins make sense, lore doesn't. Blizzard boasts about understanding what their players want, but I have a hard time believing it when they do shit like this.

It's kind of tiring that the only ""content"" that we've gotten the most are skins and dumb shit. And this is what people get mad about the most. We've gotten like what??? 5 actual content update that affected the game?? 2 maps and 3 new heroes in a span of a year??
Just let us buy coins

and a server browser, and temporary horde modes, and CTF, etc. But that's not helping the core of the game.
The speed at which they're adding new heroes is fine to me.
What really sucks is the number of maps.
In TF2's first year they added 5 maps, 3 of which were made by the community.
I really wish we had mapping tools for Overwatch.
let me buy the uprising skins again god damn it, it wasnt a fucking holiday
they're doing just barely enough actual content patches that players feel they're not buying a gambling simulator
we've had 3 events in the last 4 months that had actual content, not just skins
what more do you want?

I would take less of an issue with the "content" if you were allowed to access it after the event has concluded. If you did not participate in those events and started an account today, all you would have is capture the flag and the two game modes on Ecopoint.

I don't know, actual good maps that aren't choke fest?
blizzard have already confirmed they're working on a bunch of new maps
in a year we've had 3 new maps, 3 new heroes, new gamemodes, custom games with a browser
I don't know if "barren" is the word i'd use to be honest

How about playing the game for fun?
How about playing the game for fun?
I get so burnt out on events I usually have to take a month or so long break due to how tiring it is to try and utilize as much time as possible to get the most out of said event, and next thing I know I see an event is about to start up right when I get the itch to play again.
Uprising was a major case. I got burnt out in the first couple weeks and got nothing out of it. It's fun, but it really can get tedious.
People saying "just play the game for fun" are not looking at the issue that everyone has a problem with. Yes we play it for fun. Or else we wouldn't be playing this game. Would we really be playing a game we don't think is fun just for cosmetics? The issue here is that we don't get enough base content to balance out the cash grabbing lootbox events. Playing in between events shouldn't be just to build up coins for the next event.
You just can't expect people to stay happy with the base game for long if mostly every major update is just a way to sell lootboxes.

Id agree if the game didnt launch this badly content lacking. The game launch felt like an incomplete product and they are being oh so slow right now which will only hurt them *edit* also it's only been 2 new maps a dropped and seemingly forgotten custom games browser a weak competitive play and oh yeah capture the game mode that doesnt fit with overwatch

I was replying directly to someone who said they don't feel like the game is worth playing if it's not an event.
new gamemodes
I mean calling Overwatch's ctf a gamemode is being generous.
We still don't have replay mode. That alone would keep me occupied for awhile cause I love taking screenshots.

Sorry. I didn't mean it to sound like I was talking to you specifically. What you said made me remember that I see it used all the time on other websites to try and shut down people who have a problem with the events.
