Their whole thing about the master skins is that it kinda 'forced' people into wearing it to prove they know what they are doing with that hero. They instead made taunts be more boisterous with hero level.

Play 5 Heroes of the Storm games with someone on your friends list starting May 1st (I think?) and get Police D.Va.
i feel a better system would be items from a event cost normal vanilla item price but when a event ends they can still be brought but for three time the cost. but alas that would cut into the lootbox sales

The new system is good for new players but affected many veteran ones in a bad way. Still looks better so far.

HotS 2.0. Nexus Challenge, unlock a reward for every 5 matches played. Oni Genji first, Police D.Va second, spray and icon third and finally 10 loot-boxes.

Play (not win) 5 PvP matches in heroes of the storm to get her officer skin.

With at least one person on your friendslist on your team, and only the first 5 matches that go towards the Genji skin can be versus AI.
Gotta beat the Genji quest before you can get the Dva quest which unlocks May 1st/May 2nd for Europeans.

There's countless people wanting to do the challenge at pretty much any time, plus you can also just add randoms in-game.
Apparently that #BlueLivesMatter skin will be released in regular lootboxes eventually.
How hilarious would it be for the overwatch devs to release an incredibly rare lootbox that contains all previous event items that players can trade for 3 normal lootboxes.

I know :rolleyes: They really should've made it clear, everybody I've talked to doesn't know about it. Gonna make a mess next week when people try to get the D.va skin.
At least it's only 10 games total if you just want the D.va skin, rather than the 15 it was last Nexus Challenge for the single skin.
I am one of the few people who is fine with how Overwatch's monetization is handled, aside from two minor complaints that are necessary for funding. I like the barrier of entry to deter hackers/smurfs/retards, and I get constant free content.
If people could get every item easily they would have no need to spend money. Players who are lazy, under time constraints, or have no self control basically fund the continuation of development. If you don't do loot crates like Overwatch or make gameplay/cosmetic content hard/impossible to get for free like TF2, then you either:
A) sell maps, characters, modes, gameplay advantages like CoD, BF, Xenon-developed games,
B) go F2P and lose the benefits of an entry barrier (hackers and more smurfs/kids) and then include other direct microtransactions like limited play time without currency (Spiral Knights, which later got rid of that I think), level caps, or and chop off most of the game content behind a paywall,
C) ads between loading screens or on menus like smartphone games, or on levels (BF2142 had ads on billboards completely ruining immersion), or skins/sponsered game items (Dewritos weapon skins, movie tie-ins),
D) stop updating the game and work on a new game (RIP Tribes),
E) push e-sports and charge the shit out of organizers while pushing "support your team" microtransaction crap, which in the end will probably not fund the development entirely and needs to be combined with another method like DOTA2 or CS:GO does,
F) go subscription based like MMOs
Believe it or not there comes a point where everyone who wants your game owns it, and you stop generating money through game sales. Devs don't develop out of the kindness of their heart, they need to make money. Valve barely develops shit because the community does it for them (and Steam funds everything without them doing shit either!). Honestly Overwatch's method is the best way to do it from a non-whale's perspective (and for now they haven't pulled a TF2 and abandoned non-whales).
However, I think gaming companies need to offer the same resources and have the same limitations as casinos. Gambling addiction help resources should be visible in the game menus, and minors should be prohibited from gambling (meaning players need to be over 18 to buy crates without parent's permission, and reasonable effort to stop minors from doing so). Additionally any bought currency should not be a loophole around these two rules (not relevant to Overwatch but relevant to other games). Companies based in the USA or doing business with the USA would need to comply, and ideally other nations would have similar rules.
A long post, sorry I couldn't condense it, but tl;dr be happy Overwatch isn't made by Valve, Xenon, EA or High-Rez because the gameplay stuff is free and we get constant content.

Literally just look in the chat box. During the nexus challenge every single person was looking for a friend group for the challenge
I know half of you must think that legendary is a cakewalk by now. But I managed to get the achievement for 80% health on hard with randoms. It made me happy.
Random heroes should be custom game, not arcade. I'm fairly sure nobody actually wants to play it and it's luck based anyway.

Worst is when you die, and then get the same hero but the charge doesn't carry through.
