Overwatch - It's Actually a Trick To Make Everyone Play HotS, also BUY

I like the new version of 1v1 more than the old version, but it still has some issues. Like, if there's a hero who has a self-heal you're basically obligated to choose them, because otherwise the other guy will, and then they can chip away at you from across the map and self heal any time you damage them. Mei is a straight up necessary pick, her self heal and guaranteed win once you get into freeze range are ridiculously overpowered in 1v1. It's a lot better than being forced to play widow vs widow in the antarctic every match though.
So wait, the player's portraits you can find in the event's lootboxes are just golden version of already existing portraits?
They are doing on fucking purpose.
So on my first day of the event, I got Lucio, Hanzo, Tracer And Bastion's Legendary Skins. Off to a good start. But i still need Mei, Hanzo and D.va's. As for the others. I don't really care.
Y'know, I miss that Blizz adding some extra recolors of new event skins. They haven't done that since Summer Games. D.Va's Cruiser really should be a hot pink.
I agree they should do more but Mei had 2 colors during Rooster Time.
Events piss me off because 1v1 is a horrible gamemode but the most efficient way to grind lootboxes.
Everyone's buzzing off the Dva skin but it's all about that Pharah Emote
I'll take classic car over air guitar any day.
I just love my Symmetra skin. It looks pretty similar to her original design with the giant obscuring visor, so I wonder if they'll still add that.
The new 1v1 is still atrocious. Blizzard could implement the flip coin to 1v1 mirrors whenever both players pick a different hero.
Then the hero who gets picked will not be available next rounds.
Think of it similar to Mortal Kombat/Injustice games with selecting a stage.
hey daddy-o
Is leveling really the only other way of getting lootboxes once you've maxed arcade out?
More party pics! Some folks were actually playing music over the Mic so it wasn't as awkward as the earlier dance parties.
Found some Sombras dancing in perfect sync.

The Winstons and Pharahs were in perfect sync here.

Sym's Shield Generator works well as a disco ball.

It only just occurred to me, this is the first Blizzard game I've played since either Starcraft or Diablo.
After that my parents got a better PC and my first game for it was Half-Life. If it had been Diablo 2 instead I might've stuck with Blizzard over Valve.
I have to say, they really massively improved 3vs3 mode with this udpate. I mean:
- The whole "You can't pick this hero a second time" mechanic punishes team trying to relay on the same, OP composition over and over again, and force people to adapt to the enemy line-up and/or try new combinations.
- Using a capture point switch to break a stalemate was designed specifically to screw over people who used high-mobility heroes and loved to drag the match on as long as necessary, even if they were bound to lose, just to get a draw.
- The addition of three new maps for this mode makes queuing for it a less tiresome experience, to be honest.
Regarding 1vs1, I still think it's just not worth it, being basically a russian roulette mode where, if your enemy, by any chance, gets to pick either Soldier:76, Roadhog or Mei and you can't, or he just happens to pick the counter for you current hero, you are basically screwed
I'm going to find Kaplan in person if I don't get the golden pachimari
And I'm going to force him to add it to my account
I missed out on a lot of WC and the entirety of WoW so a lot of references this game makes to it fly right over my head.
Like, I know Torbjorn is based on a dwarf, but that's pretty much the only thing I actually noticed.

Well, you know. There's always

I get the feeling I started playing at just the right time, reading about how the loot box system works.
Apparently if you're really high level the only feasible way to get a lot of them is buying them? That blows.
Yeah if they were going to lock everything behind events they could at least give us the old leveling back.

Overwatch 1v1 is bad because there's no reason to play aggressively or move around the map. Hard CCs and stalling for self heals just makes it worse.
I really want to play more Zarya and Zenyatta but I feel like every time I do, I'm just playing them wrong.
Like, I KNOW how they're supposed to work, but actually playing them is so overwhelming. I forget to do half the things I need to do and end up dragging the team down, so I just stop. :s:

So far the ones I'm doing best with are D.va, Orisa and (for some reason) Reaper. Yeah I know.
They seem like they have the least to focus on while still being interesting to play moment to moment.

That was really shitty though. Players getting more or less lootboxes than others depending on which arbitrary level they were at.

You're right, it's so much better now that everyone gets them at a snail's pace, forever.

iirc the average rate is the same? it's just uniform across all levels. Plus there's the arcade now.
A system that encourages players to stop playing and wait for an event because they've reached some magical number just isn't good design.
Plus there's the arcade now.
Wow, three whole lootboxes. I can hardly contain my excitement.
Can't believe I never noticed the blood on Reaper's Wight skin. :v:
Speaking of Reaper, it's a real missed opportunity that they didn't bring back "Time to reap" as one of his Anniversary voice lines.

Soldier 76's anniversary skin is ugly as sin
why can't they make any good skins for him
