Honestly S76 is the only skin in this event I'm not sold on, but I don't think it's THAT bad.
I even like Cyberian (though I wish her skins would stop covering her face)

...Which were part of the game's advertised upcoming content. The game was sold to people that all upcoming content would be free. It was disgusting when they suggested Ana was a gift back in the day

The only golden icon worth is the Pachimari and that's it.
Boy, I sure love when Mystery Heroes gives the defensive team a competent set-up that's got healers and is tank heavy regularly, and gives our offensive team "xD symmetra and tracer and genji" while making me play DVa 6 times in the same match.
I'd be less poopy if the ultimate didn't get reset when it keeps you on the same class.

There are no real important references really. Torb is a dwarf, his ult is the name of a raid, and rein has gigantic power armor reminiscent of gigantic fantasy armor also found in WoW.
Aside from that in a few places there are murloc signs.
I feel like I'm just being pushed to not care about new skins by Blizzard. Crates are slow to acquire, and even if you get one the odds of getting the fun, advertised unlocks inside seems miniscule. Like, what's the point in trying to get them? Might as well just play solely for the sake of playing, and consider skins a bonus once in a blue moon. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it's a bit weird when the skins are advertised as big parts of the events.

So the story of Jetstream Sam and Raiden are about two guys who are practically brothers who get trained in the art of swordsmanship come to blows later in their story, with the climax of Sam disfiguring Raiden by cutting off his left arm due to a personal disagreement.
The story of Hanzo and Genji are about two brothers who get trained in the art of swordsmanship who come to blows, with the climax of Hanzo disfiguring Genji by cutting off his right arm due to a personal disagreement.
So in short it's a story about a different arm.
