makes me ashamed i just looked up playthroughs of this game cause of that

Yeah. THATS the biggest selling-short of the game due to the [sp]sensationalist horror[/sp] spin that a lot of youtubers are putting on it, they miss a ton of the nuance behind the writing. The stuff that really makes the game is the characters, poems, themes, etc. [sp]The horror is good[/sp] because you're already invested, but the game is hardly just a pure subversion of expectations and nothing else.

I have to admit, [sp]I can talk about all the fucked up shit in this game casually and make hanging out jokes and what have you, but act 2 and 3 of the game F U C K E D me up the first time I played through it. It's easy to get through when you know what's coming when, but my first time around had to be one of the most stressful experiences I've ever had with a game since I never knew when something was going to happen and whatever it was.[/sp]

Now this game sure seems to be inspired by how Ar Nosurge and Ar Tonelico do their things, down to how it breaks the 4th wall, and the characters having social media account.
In those games, you play as yourselves with the characters addresses you as a gamer who is behind the TV screen, pushing buttons. They answers questions in a forum of their own too (Toukosphere). Different settings, but same method.

This game made me play katawa for the first time. Hanako Good ending was a very nice change of pace from this game. (this game is still amazing tho)

It actually got me to go back and play through the Emi (best girl, best route) and Shizune (not so best after Act 1) routes. I hadn't played the game since it came out like 5 years ago when I did the Lily route and was lukewarm about it. The art wasn't as good as I remember, and you can tell it's running on an older version of Ren'Py, but it was still good overall.
Say I COULD play the game anyway, the playthrough I watched [sp]went only throught Yuri's route and got the bad ending, I could do Natsuki's and Sayori's routes and get the good ending from the get go[/sp]

Lili's route is best route for Hanako, and Emi is definitely best girl

Likewise. I can't go into the details but I think in the end that game [I]changed me as a person[/I], and for the better.
The only route I can say I didn't like was Emi's, but I can't still decide if that may be because I simply "didn't get it" (like many people say) or because its writing is just subpar conpared to the rest

This game also made me play katawa shoujo. I'd been procrastinating it for a long time but after finished DDLC I was hungry for more...100% KS the next week. That game broke me for a few days, especially Rin and Lilly's paths.
