I wanted to find some 3D models to make something with, but literally every single one I'm finding is some shitey MMD-thing that's been frankensteined from like 10 other models. My only hope, not being a character artist, is to just download the best and most available ones I can find and try to salvage them into an ACTUAL rig that works in an actually GOOD software with actually GOOD shaders and an actually GOOD render engine.

It's not much, but it's a start. It had/has all of the issues that trademark MMD models. Double-skeletons, broken skinning, overlapping geometry, duplicate materials, godawful rigging and the worst crime: Barely actually looks like the damn character it advertises itself as. I've done what I can so far and I have some other fixes in mind. I'll give the other characters the same treatment and then probably release all of them. No ETA tho, lol.
Looks sick. Definitely the best one I've seen yet.

Will do! I've just ran into some, uh, issues with the MMD community. For being a modelling community made mostly out of people who haphazardly frankenstein characters out of bits and pieces from multiple (usually uncredited) authors, they sure take the idea of respecting model distribution guidelines very, very seriously. :dogwow:
Apparently the author of the face, a guy called "TDA" has/had pretty strict guidelines that prohibit people from [I]porting his work to software other than MMD[/I]. But it's all very unclear and there's a lot of exceptions to the list. At this point I'm just mass-DM'ing the people in the credit-list to check off who is and isn't okay with my intentions and we'll see what goes on from there lol. So far 2 people have responded and given their blessing. I mean I guess technically this is just a formality, it's not like porting models from one thing to another is a new and foreign concept, but I'm starting to feel bad. :vs:

- Fixed the neck-bow-thing
- Added details to jacket & vest
- Resized collar on jacket & shirt
- Resized waist & hips to be more accurate
- Shirt now has a texture.
This picture has some harsher shadows, the nose is a bit more prominent. Anyway yeah.

This is a great game. I saw that a guy was streaming it in a group I play with and sort of laughed at the idea of him playing one of these anime dating sims. Saw a bit more and saw the direction it was going, so had to try it myself. I'm not into anime at all, definitely not a dating sim, but this game really threw me a curve ball. I don't think I've ever had a game get an emotional response out of me before like it - specifically [sp]whenever Sayori kills herself. I was totally thrown off by the sudden change in tone from all of the sickeningly cutesy buildup beforehand. I even tried reinstalling the game to see if I could accept her love confession to save her - seeing that I couldn't, it went from a feeling of guilt to a feeling of despair. Really knocked me off my feet when that happened.[/sp] I bought the fan pack to support the devs, they did a heck of a job with the tone in this game.

So I went into this sunday night with two of my roommates thinking we would giggle at "anime titties".
Oh god I was so wrong. I feel awful and regret everything. The disturbing content warnings tipped me off that something was gonna be up but I wasn't sure. I very promptly quit and uninstalled after [sp]Sayori's suicide[/sp]. My roommate looked the game up while we were going, and after I quit he told me there was more to it. At the time I was a little distraught, and decided that while I absolutely didn't have the nerve to play anymore, I had to know what happened so I read the wikipedia plot summary. After seeing this thread and skimming it over and seeing how well liked the game is, I regret reading the plot summary. I think this weekend I will try and play through to the end.
Fuck i just played through this game with my fiancee over the last week, me voicing the MC (who we named Valentine because we started it on the 14th) and narrating, while she did different voices for all the girls.
[sp] This game really got me. I dont know if it was because of my fiancee doing the voicing, but by the end I genuinely cared about the girls and wanted to have a happy ending somehow. I watched the good ending on youtube, but i dont know. Somehow it doesn't feel cathartic. Even when Sayori thanks you for helping everyone, the game still deletes itself. [/sp]
This is a game that really occupied my thoughts, and I think Im going to need some time to get over it.
Has anyone here seen the game theory videos? The guy has super annoying presentation but the information he digs up is really interesting. I hope team Salvato's next game is connected to [sp] the third eye or project libitina, [/sp] whatever that is.
I know Dan has come out and said that their next game will have nothing to do with DDLC, and I wouldn't expect them to make any direct references or callbacks or anything. Still, having anything to link the two games even quasi-universally would be really cool.
[sp] I mean, the decoded monika.chr even talks about this not being her game, it being her turn to be the hero, and mentions 2018. What is up with that? [/sp]
