They may have said they would add modding early on in development, but that was long before it became a 2 million players peak game with a somewhat large cheating problem. If they believe that giving the people writing the cheats access to the devkit would improve said cheats, they should hold it back for now. Yeah, it's a bitter pill to swallow, but you should never buy anything in anticipation of what you want it to be in the future.
Like...it's an early access game. It was never going to be fully representative of the finished product and everything claimed on the official site was still largely up in the air as every developer has dream goals they'd love to have but find they either cant or don't want to implement them any more.
If modding was such an important thing for you that you'd be petty enough to refund a game you've already played hours of over it. Perhaps you should have waited until it was in the EA branches rather than just buying in?
Nothing against the game at all, enjoying the base gameplay a lot but one of the sale points for me was the prospect of mod support.
From the way its told, it honestly sounds like we're never going to get actual mod support and we're gonna be limited to "custom games", which if stays as it is, will be absolute shit because not everyone can create them and even those who have access to it, don't have the same level of access. So this shit either needs to change or the game is going to get very stagnant in the future, people will only play the base game so much and what they've got here is something perfect for building off, just imagine fortwars, rp or even epoch style mods coming along, those would only be possible if access to the game for direct modding was allowed, and if they release a public server client (great joke this one).

I agree with you. I was looking forward to it as well, but I also understand their reasoning to (at least for the time being) reverse the plan, no matter how much of a shame it is. Though it would also be nice if they'd roll out the custom server thing to more people and equally, as you say.

My thoughts exactly, the base games fun to play and all that but I was also pretty hyped for the whole modding thingy..
Not planning on refunding the game or anything but I'd say that I'm rather disappointed that it sounds like they've ditched the idea.

Also you shouldnt have to expose your engine to allow mod support.
Does it takes seven minutes to load the main menu for anyone else?
[editline]21st December 2017[/editline]
Clocked it at just under nine minutes this time.

Yeah and it's fucking abysmal.
ue4 itself is kinda bad with this and you have to do a shitload to have modding without the editor/etc (see s&box) and even then its extremely hard to secure it
their reasoning is valid but they shouldnt have promised it in the first place imo
But i mean making a plugin/scruot interface with your engine is not impossible and is perfect if you want to keep your engine secure

Im hoping someone comes out with a pubg killer because this is a joke
Yeah and it's fucking abysmal.
I'm reinstalling the game due to a crashing issue that's plagued me ever since that patch where they added the fog map. I updated my drivers twice since then but alas it did not help, even though the current drivers are the PUBG 'game-ready' drivers. Haven't had this problem in any other game.
stop trying to force this game as an e-sport jesus
They are so busy right now, as the game exploded, just give them time.
they need to develop things step by step now, focussing on the most important things (Like an actual good game since beta was horrific). The new release has been pretty okay from a basically indie ish developper.
mod support will probably come in the future, wich might take a while, but just don't forget it's not an AAA game. They're trying their best, might fuckup on the way, but they are trying
My game is in infinite loop of downloading finishing starting again and that keeps going on

This has been going on 10 hours

I don't get this, the key is what was made more widely available, if anything this crate will go up even more in a while after people have opened a large chunk of them.

Nowhere does that image say that modding would be available at launch, and Bluehole is just saying modding won't be available in the near future. Being able to make custom gamemodes is a good starting point.

Good times classic hits,
dude, you're not going to get it refunded as you don't meet the criteria.
Also, 8 hours of playtime and you think you know the games problems that well? I don't really think so.
Family sharing, got over 200 hours in total which isn't a lot but more than enough to actually give this game the criticism it needs.
Why do so many people pretend that this game is flawless. Is this really a new standard for games to have terrible servers and bugs all over the place and still be accepted as a "masterpiece".
Nobody is treating this game as flawless in this thread though.
Where'd you get that idea?
I mean the entire pubg community, mainly the one on steam. Over there it feels like thats the one and only game for them and all other games are trash.
I'm glad that the issues are being discussed here at all but still I personally expected better. Should've delayed it and added more stuff to make it worthy the 1.0 number.

Are you serious? Because neither do I see any of this on the steam community, nor does pubg have flawless reviews, as a matter of fact, as of right now it's at mixed reviews. While no one is pretending it's flawless, you know what people are saying? It's fun. It doesn't need to be perfect or even finished to be fun. Do I and many others have issues with the game? Sure, of course we do. But just because that is the case doesn't mean we can't enjoy the game regardless.

ok
I think the game gets more hate than it deserves to be honest
yes it has it's flaws but at least the developers don't shove micro-transactions up your asshole

Oh, that's coming too, don't worry.
Purely cosmetic microtransactions are coming. The systems are being tested and boxes work as a very good way of keeping the income flowing into the game. Which is also pretty obvious to me, as when people already buy the game, it will still need funding for the development. No room for game changing, pay to win skins, items or anything of the kind. No blending/camouflage outfit either. It's an internal rule.

Oh, that's coming too, don't worry.
Yes, but are they advantageous pay-to-win bullshit? No, actually they're the opposite as they'll probably make you stand out more in the environment. Cosmetic micro-transactions are fine, AAA pay-to-win transactions are not.
Oh, that's coming too, don't worry.
No camo items? I'm okay with that.

The developers are dicks, and that brings the game down. As well idk if they are being lazy or the engine genuinely has problems. But either way it's a fun game, despite it's many flaws. It's almost a guilty pleasure to play this game.
This update has been nice, I feel like the game overall gameplay wise feels more smooth. But christ almighty the servers are a hot garbage. I load in and the first game I play the servers are rubber banding for a good 2 minutes before half the pop dies. Once half the pop dies the game server runs fines, with all this money they're making on PC and Xbox you would think that server performance could get investment.
The game runs a lot better for me. I'm getting better frame rate and I can actually shoot at people now without the game turning into a flip book. I haven't seen much of the issues people are talking about. It's overwhelmingly better than before.
I haven't seen much of the issues people are talking about. It's overwhelmingly better than before.
It is, I'm getting 60-80 frames with a GTX980, I5 4460 and 8gb of 1666mhz ram.
I think the biggest/most annoying problem isn't the performance itself but how it is inconsistent as hell, people with far better getups do a lot worse and there is no real justification for that.
So it's weird.
Unrelated to the new update, me and my brothers ran into two guys who had the EXACT same kits. AK, k98, level 3 helmet/backpack, probably armor as well. They whooped our ass. Is it possible they were cheating or were they just extremely lucky to run into the same rare items?
